Serious question (no kidding): Is Uke trying to roll - and not capable ---- or is it really impossible to roll after these throws? Uke is brown belt and should be able to roll (generally). I find it quite hard to roll after kaiten nage uchi or soto tenkan, but I think it is because of my poor mae ukemi skills. (I am still learning.)
Thanks for the question. Uke cannot roll forward (mae ukemi) during the variations because the head is turned to the side. That's why he falls to the side uncontrollably. A well-trained uke might be able to roll backwards (ushiro ukemi). Try it.
