My friends and I have just had a perfume party last weekend. We had some of earlier Guerlain’s works, including Apres l’Ondee from 1920s. Absolutely beautiful.
You and I would get along really really well! Jicky is my signature scent and Heritage is a close second. Never met another dude that could feel and relate to fragrances the way I do- but you seem to have it down! Awesome video, can't wait to watch your others.
Great Guerlain talk…Enjoyed. I love my Shalimar and L’Heure Bleue. Getting to know my newly acquired Mitsouko… Best of luck in your “Return Of The DJedi” quest!
@@RamseytheRam I've noticed more and more collectors offloading some of their collections as a consequence of the times we are in now. Probably the only positive if I can put it that way. Keep it on the radar.
First time I can say in many years I have found the best (for me) fraghead YT channel, this chapter in particular adds passion, emotion, focus and knowledge; not shaked by the sway of novelty, should be seeing also as a lecture? Thank you so much Ramsey. Greetings from good ole’ Spain.
Another great vid my guy. I love that you’re doing this series highlighting perfumers. For so long so many brilliant perfumers never got the recognization let alone the praise they deserve for there art. The amount of time, energy, head and heartache that goes into a composition is vast. As a struggling starving olfactory artist i understand.
Oh I’m working on three leather compositions rn btw. I love leather too. And chypres and leather chypres haha. Perhaps I’ll send you them when they are done. Not to review or anything just cuz we love leather and I’d love to share them with you.
Your right my brother Of all the houses that could make some some incredible high end stuff Guerlain could do it. Just make crazy good stuff and charge good money for it. Heck o people will buy em
They could beat Roja or Creed or these other super high end niche houses at their own game and actually have the history and clout to back it up! Instead they are doing stunts like this ugh 😒
What a line about l’heure bleu. First time I tried it I was reminded of backpacking in India in my youth and the joy of the Holi festival there. Olfactory memories.
😊 Wonderful video! It's easy to feel the passion with which you describe perfumes. As a fellow fragrance aficionado I immediately subscribed because I adore Guerlain, I am a Guerlain woman at heart and my collection is 85% with their creations. My signature scents are L'Heure Bleue, Mitsouko and Insolence. I recently discovered L'instant in the first formulation and because it's Spring I will start wearing my beloved Chamade, Jicky, Nahema and L'Heure Bleue and Shalimar edt. I'm going to binge on your videos. 😂
Jicky has always been a quizzical one for me. Some days I love it, some days it reminds me of the Batusi. 🦇😆 Very bizarre. But yeah, Shalimar is just a masterwork. A pillar in the industry imo.
Enjoyed so much ,great vid, even better wind down after a long day , here’s the thing only a year ago I thought Aime Guerlain was a daughter ,shock horror lol in my defense my daughter is called Aime so there’s that ( poor ass excuse ) so Rams I so so need your expert tutorials, my perfume peasant persona needs these gems 💎 cheers buddy always a pleasure 👍🙏✌️
@@RamseytheRam hahaha oh yes indeed, however back in the day I thought Stevie Nicks was the male singer in Fleetwood Mac ,true to my still to this day embarrassment.🤪😖🥺
i just bought a 1/2 full 1980s bottle of jicky for $45....very excited dude. i cant wait to smell it. i got the ralph lauren monogram but they messed up and only sent me 1 sample. first thing it reminded me of was older amouage with the incense and whatnot. i also got an early 90s eau de guerlain edt and it basically instantly replaced eau sauvage as my favorite of that style. unbelievably good, they (guerlain) literally cannot do wrong. i wish i could go back in time and hadn't bought 80% of the fragrances i got and had just bought old amouage and vintage guerlain haha, seriously. if it wasn't for you i'd probably never have checked out guerlain at all...so thank you.
In case of Habit Rouge (and vetiver),maybe you should try edc concentration too because it's what they was originaly came from.I for one prefers edc concentrantrion for both Habit Rouge and Vetiver😊
@@RamseytheRam Hey Ram! Have you smelled the perfume called Guerlinade made by Jacques Geurlain? Here’s a link: www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Guerlain/Guerlinade-23568.html I wonder if this perfume is something totally different from the “Guerlinade” accord?
I don’t know what to think about Shalimar being my signature scent since I was 16 or 17… 😂 I have branched out since then but I still wear it quite a bit.
I found a bottle of the extrate of Vol De Nuit at my local salvation army for $10, there is only like 8 ml left its near the top of the N, but wow is it amazing, and the bottle is beautiful as well, I may have to go to a few of them to see if anyone else gives away frags like that, there is an old Hermes ( for got the name of that one )
Please Santa get me a full bottle of Guerlain Metallica. One of Jacques creations. I nabbed a vintage bottle of Heritage. Now I anxiously wait for it to arrive. I waited for the Armani Stronger With You With Oud last week. OMG way too much oud for me.
Yeah I really despise that line.. the stronger with you line... i think its shite... no offense to anyone who likes that line... its just not for me... and a bottle of metallica.. even a half full bottle would be a dream come true 🙃😂🎅
Hmm well maybe Guerlain going down the “Eau de toilet” 🚽 is karma for being sexist and racist 🦕 dinosaurs. Just a thought. Shalimar is amazing and only one I have atm. Need to sniff Vol de nuit and Apres l’onde for sure.
@@RamseytheRam but seriously, I don’t believe in holding up anyone or any institution as a sacred cow. JPG was an amazing perfumer but a very flawed human being.
@@RamseytheRam oh definitely we’re all (hopefully) works in progress but I’d also understand why people of color or his niece, Patricia de Nicolai might feel differently.
