Although...I feel the need to point out ...those of us who do not have a ton of money yet still lead exceptional lives....or, idk, have amazing tales to tell...are so often just labeled "creative" at best.... but often dismissed as ....... Thx for this wonderful adventure ♡♡
I think back as to the young woman I was at 18. It’s scary to think about what I’d have done having a mansion. All kinds of messes! Probably would have ended up with, unbeknownst to me, all types of criminals under my roof. Yikes!
Extremely interesting! Well done, I've just stumbled upon your channel and it's majestic. So original ! And even your quote ,,then you're just mad". Keep up the good work!
Interesting tidbit: Amy's former home in New York (46 West 56th St) still stands! It has a chain restaurant on the ground floor but still rents apartments upstairs. The facade is still quite beautiful! I think of her as I walk past sometimes.
I love how you distilled her “essence” into a beautifully woven tapestry of her life! I have been following you for over 5 years and I LOVE your artistry! I always feel like I’ve taken a magnificent journey as I listen to your historical accounts!
What an utterly amazing, adventurous, trail blazing and ahead of her time lady She’s truly an original spirit, so fearless as very few women dared to live the life they desired let alone the eccentric, bohemian ldaring lifestyle she did… really enjoyed this
This was just such inspirational story, bless her. She had good karma! She was a rare case of someone who just had a party all life through, not only because of money (the helps!) but because of her exceptional personality. I am inspired by her, thank you for sharing this story ❤️🙏
Oddie! You’ve outdone yourself again! What a life she had. I’m in Sacramento right now. I’d love to see her final resting place. We have the Crocker Art Museum here and can’t help but wonder if there is anything inside about her life. Or was she to ‘wild’ and Bohemian to speak of. I’ll let you know of course. I do wonder about her massive art collection? What happened to her adopted children? The photos are stunning. So are the olde post cards. I’ll bet that mansion in San Francisco most likely burned in the aftermath of the big earthquake in 1906 Well thank you very much for this treasure of her life’s story. I’ll bet she had all of high society in New York abuzz with her unusual lifestyle. Oh well we have but one life to live. Might as well make the most of it. Oddie when are you going to do another thrift, junk, or antique store deep dive into their depths? Love you much say hello to Oddette for me!
So very glad you enjoyed it Karen, thank you so much for your great feedback! Yes, let me know if you find anything out or if you visit her grave. Hoping to find another junk/thrift store as soon as the weather starts to get a bit warmer, it’s been really grey and cold and rainy for ages now. Thank you so much for your kind words and wishing you all the best 🙏😊
The Crocker name is still well known in Sacramento. Aimee's parents began to collect art before she was born and their mansion eventually became a well respected museum and is still very active. Housing subdivisions carry the name as well. When I moved here there was also a Crocker bank, but I think they were bought out by Bank of America. Sacramento, despite being California's capital, is a very working class, unremarkable city. It's funny that such a wild and uninhibited person should have sprung up out of a city better known for being the tomato and camellia capital of California. Very interesting video. I'll make a point to check out her grave the next time I'm downtown.
Sure with 250 million dollars i also would go all the way in and out enjoying a wonderful adventurous life to the fullest. Thanks Oddie, very interesting story, and you conveyed it so freaking elegant, top notch, as always🌟
Wouldn’t it be something! Oh yeah, even at my age I would have a great plans lol Thank you so much for your really nice feedback, very much appreciated 🙏😊
@@ObsoleteOddity I'm also not a young man, i'm about 50, but still optimistic to get wealthy to allow me to live a fulfilling adventurous great life. If i make it then it will be inspiring too for others, that it's ok and possible to starting at old age and become successful :) Blessings to you 🌟
A great story Oddie! She was just an adventurous women that enjoyed life. I had a brother in law once ask me how many times are you going to marry? I said until I get it right. I didn't tolerate liars, cheaters, etc. They were gone before I could slam the screen door. Lol 😂😂😂😂😂
In the Rosalind Russell movie Auntie Mame, the quote from her book is Live, live, live life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death..this incredible woman certainly never starved and wow did she live. What an amazing story Oddie, thank you for your brilliant artistry , superb!! Take care my friend, best to you and Oddette!!!!
The quote is very apt! With us feeding on the scraps. Very glad you enjoyed it my friend, thank you so much for the lovely compliment and wishing you all the best. 😊
I think many working class and poor women, out of necessity lead some risky lives . She still would have been into the occult and had a lot of lovers to spite being of modest means. The money just drew attention to it from the press. I knew she had to have had a hookup with Crowley. Two people of that same temperament would find each other irresistible. I wonder about the women she loved. Do we know anything?
Wonderful Oddie. This lady was very interesting and I intend to look on Amazon to find either her book or one about her. Marvelous job Oddie, just love love love your vlogs. I think I am addicted. Thank you so much. Stay safe my friend.
Very glad you enjoyed it my friend, I do hope you find the book that you are looking for. So happy you’re addicted to my channel, that’s a lovely compliment. Stay safe also 😊
The Crocker art museum is a hidden gem in Sacramento and absolutely stunning. The home is a art museum but they still maintain the original mansion with artifacts
Thanks *Oddie* luv your selection of musical soundtrack & the photographs ...excellent presentation as always. *Aimee* certainly did know how to enjoy life
Another gem Oddie, you must have thoroughly enjoyed researching this Exotica-Seeking wealthy woman. They say money can't buy you love, but it can bag you a 26 year old Russian Prince.
Thank you Dorothy, very glad you enjoyed it! I’ve never been afraid of snakes, not keen on spiders though - although I have reached a certain understanding with them. I am respectful of poisonous snakes, though, coming from Australia, it’s wise.
Sorry, this comment was for someone else, I thought you were the lady with the snakes. Apologies! Russian princes, now I’m on the right topic - to be fair I don’t think they were that hard to come by in those days, after the Russian revolution. Lol
Oddie, this is the most amazing video! You captured her essence and personality in the video perfectly. She was an inredible human being. I would have loved to meet her.
What a great story loved it i got my first tattoo at 50 the 3 more and will be 60 next week and got another 1 .would loved of 2 meet her sounds like she had a wonderful life ❤
Oddie, YOU DID IT AGAIN!!! This was an Amazing story about Aimee Crocker. I loved it. Thank You for sharing Your talents with Us again. I hope that You are doing well. I am having some serious health problems so I am sorry for not keeping up with You. I was very happy to see this on UTUBE though. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.✝️🙏🏽❤️😊👍🏼👋🏼
I’m happy it was to your liking Dalaine, thank you so much for your kind feedback. I’m very sorry to hear that you’ve been having health problems, I do hope that you are on the road to recovery soon. Bless you.
@@ObsoleteOddity Thank You. Not yet but I will be. I was diagnosed with a very small amount of Breast Cancer. It is treatable and curable since it was found very early. I will have surgery and maybe chemo but I will be good after that.
Well presented as usual with compelling music and visuals. Ayn Rand's head would have exploded at this bio: a perfect Fountainhead villain. And the lady had charm and verve, but I suspect she significantly depleted her fortune. Not that her father was exactly John Galt; he was a good lawyer who grabbed railroad stock at precisely the right time. An oversexed, imaginative rich girl whose every whim was indulged? No wonder she was willing to do it again. Out of 100 billion human souls over 200,000 years, she was one of the 10,000 luckiest. She'd have ranked higher but for the fact that the richest and most pampered vintage 1864 human would have encountered excruciating dental pain at some point over 77 years of life.
Rich, Bohemian, and loves attention...hmmm...she'd be giving the Kardashians a run for their money in today's world, no doubt! I do wonder, for all the entertainment people like Amy give the everyday world, what kind of people they are. What did those who knew them up close see and feel? What sort of friend was Amy, what kind of mother was she? You know, the things that really matter. She loved her drama, that's for sure. Thanks again, Oddie, for another fine video! 🙂
Yes, I think the fundamental difference is that Amy was truly eccentric and not just plastic bores like the Kardashians. Who are created celebrities. No doubt investors decided that the concept would bring them a great deal of money, and it did! Very glad you enjoyed it, my friend, thank you so much!
I always check your channel on Sundays to see if you’ve uploaded a new video. I must have missed this!? So I’m late but at least I’ve got a new Oddy video to watch! You are my favorite crime/history RU-vidr. Hope you’re well!? 👍♥️.
This video just appeared … I can say I would of been good friends with her … this video must of been a lot of work to make , so much detail ! A lot of interesting names mentioned in it. Great job. Must have something to do with my art.
OMG?!?! Snake oil treatments, 15:34, 🤨 Fairly early on I was thinking she was quite the storyteller and 18:31 verifies some of what I thought. Imagine if she had lived in these times of social media. Great story Oddie.
What an amazing woman!! It's refreshing to hear of a woman being able to live as freely as she did. I do wonder if the actor Nicholas Galitzine is related to her....? Fantastic storytelling as always
Oddie you did a wonderful job as always I read through the comments and everybody thinks she’s so wonderful so adventurous just an amazing woman. To me she was a selfish person it’s not like she worked hard for her money she inherited it yes it was her money to do with what she wanted I was hoping that near the end her life she would have done something to help her fellow citizens. She wasn’t a nice lady to actually throw her adopted child Out that was wrong. But I am not here to judge God judges other comments said that they would be her friend I wouldn’t wanna be her friend not me I don’t like selfish people such a sheThank you Again for all your hard work May god bless you and your family 🙏🏻
Aimee Crocker, quite ahead of her time, would have blended in in the late 1960s, 1970s. She led such an interesting life of freedom at a time when women were considered 2nd class citizens. I have one thing in common with her. I am a snake keeper as well. Gentle creatures. Thank you Oddi, I would love to read her book.
Thank you Karyann, very glad you enjoyed it! I’ve never been afraid of snakes, not keen on spiders though - although I have reached a certain understanding with them. I am respectful of poisonous snakes, though, coming from Australia, it’s wise.
What a splendid life, and woman Oddie, thank you for sharing her story so beautifully. I suspect, that had I been born into her circumstances and time…I might well have taken a very similar approach to life. How wonderful to be able to effectively live as she wished, not weighed down by the social constraints most women of wealth were hindered by. I believe her issue with the adopted Daughter, was that the child she gave birth to was sired by Aimee’s current Husband. I think he was the first of the Russian Princes, who she divorced. I have nothing but admiration for women like her, who lived life fully, and by their own rules. She must have also been intelligent and witty, to have caught and held the attentions of so many men of note. To die with no regrets, having done and experienced everything she wanted to, rubbing shoulders with interesting people, regardless of their social position, religion, or race cannot be said of many people. I hope it will be said of me. Much love and light…🖤🇨🇦
So glad you enjoyed it Tamarra, thank you so much my friend! She was really blessed to be born with such a spirit for adventure, and to have the means to fulfil her inclinations. Quite a few in the comment section saying that she was only like that because of her wealth, but there were many people just as wealthy as her who were not adventurous souls. She would’ve been exactly the same if she was poor, but perhaps her adventures would have not been so exotic. The fact that she had no regrets at the end of her life, shows that she thoroughly enjoyed her time here.
Perhaps we will get to experience a life like this, or perhaps we already have done? Love and light to you both, Odette sends her regards - today, the Sun is blessing us with full brilliance, and a high of 20° - the warmest temperature of the year - spring has arrived!
@@ObsoleteOddity I agree, the money didn’t make her who she was, it simply allowed her to fully explore herself and her world. We know there were lots of bold spirited women back then, but it was harder for those born with less resources to live their desires as Aimee did. She got it right.✨🖤🇨🇦
@@ObsoleteOddity I’m sure we have lived some aspects of life in that lane before, and likely will again. My Gods, just looking over the various stages of this life, I have had a splendid journey, and I can’t say I’d change any of it. We are having every kind of weather you can think of, but March has that tendency here. Our worst is over for the year, and signs of Spring are all about. We are developing a system here at home for Richard, and it is working pretty well so far. His mobility is pretty impaired, but we are just taking a day at a time. Many thanks for your lovely blessings, and know that we wish both of you much love, light, and happiness ahead.💖🖤🇨🇦
@@tamarrajames3590 I certainly feel that I have in previous lifetimes, but it’s nice to experience both ends of the scales, to learn appreciation and acceptance. Still, I wouldn’t mind some of those millions to live it up before I discard this shell. 😄 We’ve also had very strange weather, one day beautiful sunshine, the next pouring of rain and cold winds - but I definitely think spring is trying to assert its domination, and I’m very happy about it! I’m so happy that you have a system for Richard, and are enjoying every moment together. That’s all we can ever do. Sending you both much love and light. Take care and please stay in touch. ☀️
I ha e the privilege of living close to Aimee's birth place in Sacramento. It's the Crocker Art Museum now. I can spend absolute days there with the art collection. ❤
I find it very interesting that she was born on December 5th, which makes her a Sagittarius. My Mother was born on the 3rd of December and a very good friend of mine was born on the 9th. It seems a wild side does go with this sign, and we always seem to land on our feet, and don’t get too worked up about things that happen in our lives. We can always rebuild! And love adventure!
