An unexpected surprise, I'd never heard of this show before, but found it really funny. Sadly though it's not available on dvd. You'll not find this on any list of top sitcoms of all time, none the less it has a certain charm about it, and the writing by Roy Clarke is brilliant. Although it beats me why any man would willingly be a doormat to a miserable, ungrateful and messed up trollop like that dowdy Melissa.
Don't remember this but been watching later ones when his wife was different person & no canned laughter etc 😊 & This doesn't make sense she didn't know who he was untill into series two or them both knowing about affair etc etc
The laughter wasn’t canned, it was filmed in front of a studio audience and any location scenes played to the audience in sequence and their reactions captured.
