I first heard Sam sing this song at a concert with John McCutcheon at the Laurel Theater in Knoxville, TN last Friday night, May 6, 2016, and was frankly blown away by it! Such wisdom in such a young musician. We were 3 over 75-year-old women who loved Sam immediately--and we loved this song! Evelyn Miller
This was picked up by the Guardian newspaper here in the UK Monday as their entry for the weekly Resistance Now column as selected by Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - wonderfully touching and great listening! Damn, who's been chopping those onions!
Oh Sam. Such pure heart.string pulling tears from my eyes. I love your heart and soul. This song is a beautiful gift. An anthem. May the world hear it true.
Thank you for this beautiful song and story. I can still remember the first time I heard, "Coal Mining Woman" sung by Cathy Fink, many, many moons ago!
AWESOME SAM!❤️❤️ Very similar to this new song by Tyler Childers. Historic! Welcome everybody’s new wedding song. Now this is a song deserving to be #ONE! 💯 Powerful video! It is has it all …..great vocals, story, lyrics, acting.🏆👍🏼❤️ Will Homophobic Country music play it?? Get the Kleenex ready. Gay love story by Grammy nominated country artist Tyler Childer called, "In Your Love", first song released off his album due in September. What makes this so powerful is gay people have such a challenging time finding "the one" compared to the larger heterosexual community. And to finally find it and then to lose it, is just devastating. Along with Childers amazing ache in his vocals. Great contrast to Aldeans.👍🏼 "One reason Childers wanted to do this music video, he told Ann Powers of NPR, "was my cousin growing up, who's like my big brother, is gay." Please like it and support him, and write a positive comment. Thank you ❤️
Coal is very controversial with climate change and CO2 being put into the atmosphere. However, it is refreshing to hear yet another story of men loving each other which helps break the myth of our lives.
Beautiful song and I just ordered the CD. Sam will be performing at a special concert in Raleigh, NC on Sept 26. I just published this blog about the concert: www.totalengagementconsulting.com/blog/2017/09/promoting-diversity-inclusion-bluegrass-music/
