Love that they come with delrin bearings, and ifcand when time comes for a spring or seal change,these can be stripped very easily,with no unscrewing the trigger block like on the weihrauch rifles,which in fac ones is really difficult, i remember a dislocated sholder one time doing one up!

I have an early Beech Pro Sport in 177 with the original stock design but dyed a very deep dark purple, it's a very nice rifle. I sold it once, but bought it back from the guy a few months later after realising it was a stupid idea to have sold it in the first place! It won't be leaving me again.

I watched this video last night and bought a Pro Sport this morning, here in North Yorks. Just got it sighted in the garden and even though I have not fired a springer in 30 years (previous being an AirSporter and FWB 127 sport), I was putting fingernail groups at 25yards. Thanks for this video it helped me in deciding between this and the TX200HC :)

Thay are a lovely Air Gun. I had a BSA Ultra then I applied for a FAC and got a 22Lr. I went for a Air Arms ProSport .177 because I did not want to keep filling a PCP Air Rifle it seemed a lot of hassle for the little use I used it. I found the ProSport liked JSB EXACT EXPRESS DIABOLO in 7,87gr (the number on the back of the tin is 0 4.52 I don't know if that means anything) it all most put pellet on pellet at 30 years i was very happy with that.

I had pro sports in both 177 and 22, the 177 for at least 7 years, they are very strict rifles, you must practice and have consistency from hold to to trigger pull, follow through the lot, but once you crack it you will impress yourself.

I've had mine since 2012, and I still marvel at it. It's my most trusted rifle I have ever owned, and it was the last springer I have ever bought. I had 2 gamo's before it and was absolutely blown away with this Air Arms and don't know if there is a better springer. You can't beat perfect accuracy. I like it more and have more fun with it than my PCP's. It's hard not to want a PCP but it's just not the same somehow.

I have to agree with you. There is definitely a challenge, when it comes to shooting a Springer. Even quality ones like the pro sport. I have the TX 200 and HW97KT. They are both brilliant, rifles and extremely accurate, but require a lot of skill to shoot, consistently well. That is what makes them so rewarding, when you get it right. PCPs are just too easy. I sold my .22 just before Christmas and it really is the best springer ever! Only reason for sale was it was to good. I bought it second hand and was still to worried I'd get another mark on it. Absolute work of art and amazingly accurate. Only way mine could of been better would of been walnut stock. I did notice in the video it looke like something protruding out the end of the shroud? @PiperX1X
@PiperX1X Год назад
Well I’m really exited now the order of my new left handed walnut in 177 is now on its way to my local gun shop and he said that I was lucky too as there was only one left in stock period and I guess he was talking about air arms as they must only either make them for order or only do a line of them every so often. The only other they up had was the tx200 HC in 22 which was my second choice in the end but I’m so glad I’ve got the pinnacle of all airguns. And as I’ve been shooting for many years and have been a Weihrauch man through and through having two 95k’s in 177 and 22 and my blue laminate 97 in 22 and my little grab and shoot 99s in 22, all I might add are absolutely cracking rifles I wanted to get something really special and the pro sport has been on my bucket list for absolutely years and now I’ve finally taken the plunge. ………but what still gripes me in this day and age is us lefties get hammered in price because we are are different and have to pay so much more for a left hand gun and especially when your spending so much on a rifle. I served with the British army and even to this day they don’t cater for lefties as the sa80 is catered for right hand shooters only so you can imagine my groupings when I served if I hit the board I was lucky. So in the end I was tested on the GPMG now funnily enough shooting that from my right shoulder felt absolutely normal and my god could I hit things with that beast! But yeh we lefties seem to get a kicking in the wallet and really it’s not right really.

You had fun with the GPMG👍. I was in the RAF, used the SLR. No SA80's experience for me, I'd left by October 1989. I have a tx200 hc. Enjoy your rifle. I had some fun with a Lee Enfield, Mauser and Mosin in "The tunnel" ,on holiday in 2019, my wife and I just came back from another holiday that way (Charmouth) and I went there to shoot again. Different experiences but still good fun🇬🇧👍
@PiperX1X
@PiperX1X Год назад
Sounds like my kind of holiday that buddy. I went to pick up my Air Arms pro sport today and what an absolute cracking looking rifle. I’ve shot airguns among other since I could hold them and this is totally another level. The cocking stroke is great and the shooting cycle is as smooth as smooth and the trigger is probably the best I’ve used. Sorry Weihrauch but I’m been totally honest here. Record triggers are fantastic but this definitely has the edge. I haven’t had time to properly zero it in today but the groups at 35 yards were as tight as tight with no flyers. I was just throwing pellets through it to get the barrel leaded in a tad so tomorrow I’ll get it zeroed in properly hopefully tomorrow.

I have completed my PCP collection and just need a springer. This one I know is superb but I'm wondering how loud it is when fired as my range is in my back garden! I don't want to upset the neighbours, is this the quietest of the "great" underlevers? Because the 77, 97 and a couple of others are in the mix and all potentially on the cards.
@888zzz
@888zzz 2 года назад
At least three different high quality round nosed pellets are necessary for a fair accuracy test. Air Arms pellets(JSBs) are excellent but not necessarily preferred by a particular gun. A few gun models shoot a particular pellet the most accurately, but the vast majority of guns even of the same model prefer different pellets. I'm enjoying your videos and have subscribed.

I prefer the HW97 because It's ambidextrous and it has an adjustable recoil pad and there is much easier to put in the pellet with your left hand when you are a right handed shooter. The Pro sport gives bad access to the filling port from the left site. With the HW i just can hold the underlever i my right hand and don't have to swap whole the time.

I took my 97 back to the shop and exchange it for a HW90, the 97 was rubish compared to the 90, it had horrible twang and vibration when fired! Also was averaging 11fps spread over 5 shots where as the 90 is only 3fps.

Hi Richard. I apologise, this isn't a direct review question regarding your specific review. There's lots of videos regarding barrel cleaning, and how important a clean barrel is. However, we are also told it is good to line your barrel with lead. Are we better to clean our barrels regular, or is it more beneficial to have a lining of lead on our barrel insides? When the barrels are cleaned, everyone claims vastly improved accuracy. I would be very grateful of your opinion and advice. Thankyou for your previous replies to my questions Richard, best wishes.
@alphamilitaria2756
@alphamilitaria2756 2 года назад
Hi Ian. No problem. To be honest I only ever clean my barrels when I have a new rifle to remove any muck/preservative and when I notice a sudden drop off in terms of accuracy. I certainly do not clean my barrels regularly. In terms of leading up, all you need to do is put a 100 or so pellets through the barrel once cleaned (not that I ever notice the difference between a barrel that is leaded up and one that isn't!). Don't get hung up on having to clean your barrels regularly, ensuring they are leaded up etc. Enjoy your rifle and only worry about cleaning the barrel if you start seeing a drop off in accuracy compared to what you are used to. I hope that helps. Rich.

Hi Richard. Thankyou, I enjoyed your review.can I ask you please, I practice at 30yrds. Trying to hit the centre of a five pence beyond that becomes tricky. Those extra ten/twenty yards, alot more things can affect your accuracy and far harder to achieve success, with just that extra distance. What do you think??
@alphamilitaria2756
@alphamilitaria2756 2 года назад
Thanks Ian, and I totally agree. I'm not technical expert, but I think the stability of pellets at the relatively low power of an air rifle has a lot to do with it. And of course, the extra distance magnifies errors in our ability as shooters that wouldn't be as apparent at shorter distances. I think the answer is to keep practicing! Thanks for watching.

@alphamilitaria2756 3 года назад
Hi. I'd say that the cocking action on the ProSport is a little stiffer - by no means difficult to cock, just stiffer than the TX200. The TX200 is a little easier, at least the full length version in the review (I've not tested the HC), but it does have a slight ratchet which is not an issue unless your hunting, and then only a small one. I hope that helps.

I'm new to shooting, and am infact looking to purchase my first air rifle. I was thinking of getting a PCP to start with, but I'm increasingly feeling drawn to the springers. This Pro Sport in particular is an absolute work of art. From the stock, the trigger to that lovely blued metal for the barrel. It shoots like a dream too. Would it be completely foolhardy of me to even consider such a high end rifle for my first? I was shooting at the range just last weekend a couple days ago and had incredible fun and met some great people, so there's no doubt I'll be sticking with the sport, it's just a question of what I get. I noted though that the price for these seems to have jumped markedly since this video. It was stated they were in the £650-700 range, but now they're £940(!) and the left handed version is topping out just over a grand! Has there been a redesign in the time between this video and now, or is this just "cost of living" throwing spanners in the works?

Hi Timmy. Yes, I'm afraid the rifle has gone up since we made the video. The ProSport is a superb rifle. If budget is an issue, the Weihrauch HW77 is worth taking a look at. Many consider it to be the equal of the ProSport. I have one and it is laser accurate straight out of the box. If you trawl through our videos there is a review. The HW97 is another rifle to consider (we've done a video on that too!). Please let us know if there's anything else we can help with (hello@alphamilitaria.com).

Hi Leslie. I don't think they are recommended for springer rifles, although I think that with a ProSport, especially if it is tuned, you'd probably just about get away with it as the prismatic scopes do have a few mm of eye relief - 12/14mm, something like that. But be careful!

I'm having a think about the AA pro Sport or Weihrauch HW 97KT. Price is not the issue, I dont mind paying more for a rifle, but I want it to be clearly worth the extra. I will only be using it for hunting for the table so I want a gun I can grab and go, not worry too much about anything. kinda thinking the 97KT will do the job. I am wondering about long term reliability and I assume bother would be neck in neck. I never had a PCP and although I like the idea of multi shot, I dont like the charging issue, although if a foot pump worked, effeicnetly that would be ok. I am drawn to a springer on the basis of longevity and reliability of a springer over a PCP, more to go wrong on a PCP, leaks etc. I reckon the AA is a more beautiful rifle but for a hunting gun I want functionality over looks and the 97KT is a nice also. Can any AA SP owner tell me why I should take it over the Weihrauch?
@alphamilitaria2756
@alphamilitaria2756 2 года назад
Hi William. I think the problem you will find is that HW97 owners will vote for the Weihrauch and Prosport owners for the Air Arms. Ideally you need someone who owns and shoots both! I've tested them both pretty close to each other and in terms of accuracy and performance there's not much between them - they are both awesome. If you're concerned about which is better I think you'll entering into a splitting hairs exercise. My best advise is to shoulder them both if you can to see if one simply feels better for you than the other. Neither one is a mistake though and I'm sure you'll be pleased with your choice either way.

Do ProSport owners appreciate that Air Arms basically copied the Venom Arms Mach 2 rifle? There was some 'friction' with Venom over that! Superb piece of kit, I have a modest collection of seven rifles, 4 x Venom/V-Mach HW's- 2 x 77 and 2 x 80's. 1 x HW35E, 1 x Theoben Evolution, and an Air Arms TX200. I had a session this evening with the TX200, brilliant rifle- key holed ten rnds into a Bisley tgt at 30m. Air Arms are up there alongside Weihrauch for quality engineering in my humble opinion.
@alarmactionukalarmactionuk893
Ken Turner first produced a stainless steel constructed concealed underlever air rifle which he unveiled in 1982 at Basingstoke ARPC open competition to which the later Air Arms ProSport is based and not at all a copy of the Venom Mach2 project. Incidently Ken a precision engineer by trade had a direct input in the Mach2 development by use of his machining talents.

He walked over to their stand, as he was approaching, the Pro Sport was hurriedly removed from display and out of sight. He said to the AA personnel, "I've come to see my rifle!" He was in the initial stages of taking legal action when the Dunblane shootings occurred. He was very conscious of the bad press that the shooting sports were receiving, and rather than add more to it, he generously dropped the legal action. The Mach 2 plans were 'appropriated' by an employee at an engineering firm that Venom contracted work out to. He sold those plans on to a certain company........The 'appropriator' was sacked from his job at the engineering firm for breaching client confidentiality. The Pro Sport bears an uncanny resemblance to the Mach 2, the design influences are fairly obvious.
