Absolutely love my TX200HC in .177, the most accurate, smooth and quietest springer I've ever used. Feels like a highly tuned rifle straight out of the box.
Reassuring to watch this video as I bought this rifle! After using a friend’s Krahl PCP I decided to go for a high end springer. I wanted something I could rely on for accuracy so the rest is down to me. It is heavy and that looks great shooting from that position. I’m very happy with mine. I like a Buff too by the way....useful things! Thanks for this.
MrDazp1 Thanks for this. Of those I’ve tried JSB Exact Jumbos seem to be working OK and the quality seems consistent. I will try the Air Arms Diabolo Field at some point as they seem to crop up in a lot of reviews.
How did you manage to find a left hand stock version with the side breach and the anti bear trap on the right? Been trying to find one for ages. Thanks mate
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures oh i see, do you know exactly where he managed to buy it from? As i dont see any website that sell the left hand stock with the breach on the right. Kind regards
First, shooting a springer (gas or spring piston) is entirely differant than shooting our PCP rifles. If you compound a lack of practice with shooting from an unsupported position of any variation, it is likely the rifle will not produce at distances beyond 25 yards / meters. When selecting the pellets that hold the best at a given distance, 5 or more shots in the same hole aren't uncommon with a proper benchrest. The TX200. What sets the TX apart is the quality of the material and workmanship. A few hours ago, I dropped one TX200HC into the cart; now I realize that I forgot to select the walnut option. I will surely do so. Indeed the finish on that stock is impeccable. I thank the Almighty that I am a sel-taught ambidextrous shooter with pistol and all long guns. Crossbow as well. Finally, if you have a left handed stock, that is yet another variable which requires practice; considering your comment about issues with the left handed stock.
Thanks for the comments Russ, I borrowed the TX from a friend who was left handed but couldn't resist the chance to have a plink with it. I like the idea of a natural shooting position on one knee because it adds a certain amount of control to the session and requires a higher level of concentration. Pellet choice is key and I should have used some higher grade pellets. Best of luck with your acquisition pal 👍
@MrDazP1adv3ntures Extremely pleased with my TX200HC! About 2 weeks ago it arrives at the residence I am currently moving from, just at the time I realized I'd been scammed for 8G. Yet, the good Lord stabilized that inconvenience the previous week with another win at casino. Everyone suddenly has an urgent situation when that occurs. Especially the ladies. I suppose I should clarify: The 20th Century term 'woman' 'lady' Well, having been all over SE Asia those folks are artists, not WOKE. They shall be excluded. Trying warped humor to deviate my focus on back pain.
lovely looking rifle with a beautiful stock, also shoots well and pretty quiet, would have had but went for the HW97KT owing to the click , click , click on cocking the TX
2 cracking rifle choices there and I think it comes down to personal choice at the end of the day. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching. I am currently restoring a Webley MK3 under lever spring air rifle so stay tuned for the video later on this year.
I have finally bought this rifle and it's the best Springer I own I use it for HFT and it's excellent. I've left mine as stock and it's running at around 787 fps.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Yes! After a lot of testing I've found that this particular barrel loves JSB 8.44 4.51. She doesn't like 4.52 which is unusual. Tony Leach reckons that I have a rare and one of the better Walther barrels!
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures 5p pieces at 30 yards around 10p at 40-45 yards which is the HFT limit with a 35 mm kill zone. I got a personal best at the Furnace Mill UK Nationals last Saturday with 45/60 beating a lot of seasoned shooters some with PCPs!!! I also got a personal best at Nomads the following day which is a tough course.
Wow, that sounds fantastic and a big congratulations from this end. Do have a low resting heart rate that helps with your groupings or do you just go off instinct as to when you release the trigger.
I got my tx200 in beech today, right handed. NOT the HC. It's the best Springer I have used. Much better then the HW97K. If you lived close by I would asked you to do a review on my gun.
i have that exact same gun but I'm left handed! serially try the same gun but with a walnut right handed stock to suit your shooting the groping you will get at 40m will shock you and make you feel kinda ace at the same time good review m8
I had a problem with a rather pricey FTP 900 and it was all repaired and sent to me know problems. The shop just collected it from me and returned it to me. Yes, it was away a little time but no issues or bad service.
I’ve been pondering over the pro sport or one of these and I’m still up in the air not deciding yet. I do a lot of vermin control and have an array of Weihrauch’s but as I’m getting to a certain age having shot all manners of guns especially airguns I’m wanting to add one more to my collection and especially an air arms. The thing is the pro sport is the better looking and the tx200 is also a looker but will be easier to cock if I’m in a hide or tight spot and as I have a Weihrauch hw97 I keep swaying towards the pro sport then I keep changing my mind, very indecisive at the moment but the pro sport is the pinnacle of all air rifles I believe and it’s the proud ownership of having one. Oh god I just don’t know buddy.
Just bought one last week and are a very good rifle, probably just a bit better than my 97KT, only had chance to zero at 20 yards but getting pellet on pellet with qys .177 streamlined 8.4s.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Decision made pal I’ve followed my heart and I’ve gone for the pro sport in 177 and as I’m a lefty it’s cost me more but that’s the way it is. And by all accounts according to my local gun dealer I’ve got the last one as I suppose they meant that they were on about Air Arms as they either make a line of left handed ones or they are made to order, either way I’m over the moon and can’t wait for the phone call to say it’s arrived and ready for collection. But honestly though they are a thing of beauty aren’t they, who knows next year when I cash some of my pension in I just may make it a double and get the TX200 HC. I’ll let you know my thoughts when it arrives and I’ve had chance to shoot it.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Well I've had the pro sport for a few days now and first impressions were just wow the looks and finish on the rifle are just incredable from butt to the end of the barrel, the whole gun is faultless and the walnut stock is amazing with some lovely grain within it. After fitting a scope and started to zero it in from the first shot i could feel just how smooth the firing cycle is, the trigger is the best ive ever used and I've shot Weihrauch's all my life and their rekord triggers are fantastic but this pro sport's i believe is so much better and much lighter straight from the box, very impresive indeed. There is no twang when the pellet is sent on its way just a dull thud and the accuracy is mind blowing. At 35 yards i was getting six shot groups less than a 5 pence piece and just prior to that i took my new hw100kt in 177 to zero as i'd swapped scopes and i was getting the same results so this pro sport is producing pcp results, honestly if you can get hold of one to try i'm sure youll be as impressed as i am. I picked it up on monday and every day I've been feeding the wood with linseed oil and it hasn't half brought the walnut stock up really well and I'm still feeding it daily as i want to really make this stock stand out. So yes I'm over the moon with it, expensive yes but I've been wanting one for years and I'm not getting any younger and niether is my health and thats why I've gone ahead and bought one while i can enjoy it.
They are a good pellet Dave, I used some old pellets from back in the day when testing it out and it is surprising how different brands can change the groupings. It was a lovely rifle to have the pleasure of using on this day
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures I use Ely wasp pellets on my old bsa’s and webleys they are 5.6. Fit the old barrels perfectly. But don’t work well on newer barrels. When the soft Ely pellet expands its too tight binding on the rifleing. A air rifle piston travels at around 400 mph. And it make the back of the pellet open up like a umbrella making the rifleing do it’s job. This is why alloy and copper pellets are a bit crap.
Yes that's right, I was advised by Richard Spencer to use wasps in the Genesis air gun so had a few left over. I have since got some different pellets (or acquired them ) off friends who no longer shoot.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Absolutely fantastic bit of kit 👌 My only complaint is down to my own DNA , Big hands and Fingers make hard work of seating Pellets haha, looking at a Vector Optics Veyron scope but am undecided on which one 😁😁😁
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures It shoots and groups like a PCP. I've had issues with it though. Well known problems with the cocking arm bolt to compression tube working loose. It's gutted me to send it back. But to be honest Air Arms have a 3 year guarantee they honour so I've probably just got a Friday night Monday morning one! Using my HW97 at the moment. Another great rifle. I have it in synthetic stainless and my partner has it in wood!
@@Happy-Me. Sounds like you are a person with a taste for quality there. I think that the only way forward for any British built product is to provide a build quality with a superior warranty service to back things up. The 97 is a dream rifle to use whilst the other is in for the fix.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Cheers. I try to buy the best where possible and Weihrauch have never let me down! I also have a HW100 and HW95. That's why I'm disappointed with the Pro Sport. But I guess all will be forgiven on her return!😎 PS I also have the Webley Alecto Mark V this is a brilliant pistol.
That rifle seems to have the breech cut-out on the wrong side of the gun! Its a left handed stock alright but the breech is still on the same side as right-handed versions.....but has no cut-out.....the cut out is on the left side and does nothing. I think it must be a rare mistake as Air Arms make incredible guns! Maybe I've missed something!
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures ...I think at that price point....and knowing Air Arms that can't be the case. Also why make the stock for a left hand port and put a right hand action in? It must be a factory mistake. I will send Shiela at Air Arms an email when they open up again. If it was generic it would have the cut outs set up for right handed shooters and that would be the majority probably. Also that stock where the cut-out for the loading port/breech is, seems to cover the access. I am sure it must be a right handed action in a left handed stock.
@@simonspain6080 Thanks again Simon for sharing your thoughts and observations. I don't know if the Air arms SE 90 or Khamsin kept the tap lever on the same side of their LH rifles either ......
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures I am looking at purchasing one you see...hence I am looking at any good videos of walnut stocked versions. I love the Pro Sport too but I actually think the TX200 is just as beautiful ....just in a more 'classic' way.
funny thing is, you have a left handed stock, but a right handed "action" mounted.. looking at the indentation on the left, where the breach should be.. why have you chosen this setup? ( you can also get a left handen "action" ( breach on left side )
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Im looking into getting one as my last springer. i am left handed, but i would really like the action to be righthanded ( makes more sense i think ) im gonna reach out to AA and see ( hope, fingers crossed ) they can do a left hand contour stock, but with right handed cutout for the breach ( and a RH action to go with it ofcourse ) its such a nice gun, and even though im in the netherlands and can pick up a HW97K tomorrow, id rather wait a couple of months to get an AA
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures contacted AA and they get the stocks with the cutouts already in them. Best they can do is what they did with your rifle.. put a right hand action on a left hand stock. But then i would have to make the breach cutout on the right hand side, and there will be a non functional cut out on the left hand side.. bit too much handiwork for a close to 1000 euro rifle.
Now that looks like a stunning airgun, I don't know too much about them but they are very aesthetic and nice on the eye so to speak. But yes, I love a springer because you can mess about with em lol. Cheers DT. BTW I have been in contact with Lee Palmer who tells me there might be a gold panning group session at Leadhills in August. I am not on FaceBook so miss out on the forums and what's happening in the panning circles. ( I might have to start a page up or somat).
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures I have two brocock pcp's atm, an old super 6 and a compatto that I got a couple of years ago, both really good to shoot but with the Corona virus lock down there was nowhere to get the charging kit filled up! @@MrDazP1adv3ntures I've owned lots of different ones over the years buddy - one of my favourites was a Webley tracker which was a carbine/side lever. Brilliant little gun. Another was the sharp Innova and the ace (had both) which were pneumatic pump up rifles.
They are all old school rifles DT , My dad had a RWS 52 Firebird. Side lever when we used to go out plinking in the woods. I think it had been tweeked and probably put out a few more ft/lbs than it should have ! . It's one of them hobbies that you were either into or not. I'm glad I got into it all them years ago. My first airgun was an ASI Gammo sniper. About £90 with a scope. Bag and silencer.
I want to see this compared at 25 50 and 75 yards to the Diana 48. I wish the TX200 came with open sights. I also want to see a powerful underlever or side lever bullpup with the TX. I'd also like to see a 30 to 40 pound feet under or side lever gun 40 inches or shorter with quarter accuracy at 100 yards.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures You bet! I see the Hatsan mod 135 as a baseline potential for powerful foot pounds an a few break barrels with .177 getting 1400 fps like the Benjamin Trail NP2. Someone needs to make the most powerful underlever or side lever version with extreme accuracy and reliability for hunting at 100 yards.
1400fps is pretty quick ! Surely at 100 yards though you would have to have the gun resting on a bean bag. That would be some shot though. How much power would the pellet retain at that distance ?
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures yes it’s 11ftlbs .22 and accurate with a Walther 3x12 x56 mm scope love it I had to put another pre load washer in it to get 11ftlbs
@@PaulMoorhousehankooks Sounds like a nice scope, They are a pleasure to shoot Paul. Funnily enough I was thinking about stripping my Khamsin down and doing a video on how it looks. I also need to get a friend of mines pistol out in the field to review it. It's an original Model 6
Hiya, what range is this capable of shooting with accuracy? I’m looking at one just to use for targets not hunting and would like to know how it performs at 70/80 yards?
Hello Shannon,. That's a fair distance but I'm sure the air riffle will be able to perform once you have established the drop over that range. I presume you will be resting the barrel on a mount or bean bag too. Personally I wouldn't shoot over 40 metres because I know that I am not good enough to hit a target let alone have decent groupings.
Mate 70/80 yards is way too far for sub 12ft.lbs there’s a very high risk of wounding. Hunting is about fieldcraft and being confident of a clean kill,40 meters is a long shot in ideal conditions for a good marksman. A good hunter ensures a humane kill not taking pot shots, practice patience and fieldcraft and ignore the ego of people boasting about long shots, yes it can be done but the % is low.
Ten shot strings = 2 groups (twice) ? Are you at the coast, maybe ? Lots of wind and not the best place to test accuracy. Just a bit blonde that stock, a bit like mine. Those deep dark brunette walnutters are scarce nowadays I'm afraid. Pour some engine oil over it ? Do keep that knurled cocking aid well lubed because the wafer pattern rusts easily. Shudavbin stainless. Next time you get a lefty you might bring a second "Buff" cap and place it over the "Butt".... change 2 letters and ease that sharp roll-over ridge. No silencing baffles, just empty space near the muzzle in that barrel shroud. But you had a little muzzle insert job muffling the sound a bit. For classy underlever comparison, there are now 3 to do - don't forget to include the recent Walther LGU.... I would have liked to see a side lever option in AA's modern range, like the old models you referred to but then with this TX breech lay-out instead of that dodgy tap loader ! Plse keep those reviews coming, dear Daz ! They got CHARACTER !
Great reply and thank you . I did notice some very slight rust on the cocking lever grip like you said. This rifle was a pleasure to use. I shoot up in the hills and always seem to have a breeze in the quarry. Personally I like to shoot free hand and see what the rifles can do which isn't scientific but this appeals to me. I noticed in the video that the stock left a mark on my cheek too. I would love to have a go of the other rifle you mentioned too. Thanks for watching.
Is called Pro Sport (under lever hidden in stock belly). Lever is square U-profile and the open side of that "U" will bite your fingers rather soon in a long session. AUCH ! Buff cap will not help here. LOL...
Hello Shaun, I tend to use a beeswax oil on Walnut stocks or if not I spray some general purpose maintenance oil like GT85 on to a rag and wipe it over. I have also used Teak oil too.
@@shaunwild8797 To be on the safe side,I would leave the stock in situ Shaun. You can also use a toothbrush on the chequering to clean the profiles out too.
I was going to say a good tune should make for a smoother action. I used to use Bisley pellets years ago and they did a really heavy one, I think it was called the Magnum and because they were so heavy they would drop at 25 yards and needed a lot of adjustment to get them scoped up to the target.
@@PaulMoorhousehankooks Yes sure thing me too Paul. When I met Richard Spencer he said to use Eley Wasp pellets in the Genny but they are not good in other rifles
