YES MATE!!! Great to see you back on YT. 👍 I guess it's crunch time in the academic world right now, so not surprised you're busy! I'd love to try a TX200 - looks like you've got the HC version too!! Perfect for fieldwork - if not a little on the heavy side. I'm still really enjoying shooting my HW99s 'Imp' in .22 (tuned by SFS) - if you ever get a chance you should give a tuned 99s a try! That said, after my HW110k .177 came back from HW100TUNING, it's consistently producing 20p groups at 50m! So I'm a bit spoilt for choice with my x2 guns. Hope the work-side of life chills a bit soon, so you can get some more content out. 🤞 Go well! Rich.

Thanks for the review, Chris. I have the full length Mk3 walnut version in .177". After decades of shooting PCP and rimfire, I found the lock time a little slow - my information is that the piston stroke on the current Mk3 is longer than on the Mk2 (which is what you appear to be testing). I understand that this is for 18 ft-lb versions for the American market - but the softer springs in the UK model give the slower lock time and consequent hold sensitivity. I fitted the TBT kit to short-stroke mine (no affiliation) and it is now a total joy to shoot. It likes QYS wad-cutters (Training Grade) for target work out to 25 yards but my absolute favourite are JSB Exact in 4.53mm. As mine is just for target work, I fitted spacers to give me 10.5 ft-lb for the tightest groups with my shooting technique. I get best results on a rest almost at the balance point, with a little weight towards the butt, lightly resting on the shoulder for consistent movement under recoil. As ever, your mileage may vary. My TX200 is most definitely a keeper, it compares very well to my AA S400 (with after-market regulator).

This TX is a early MK3 if you watch the video at 9:33 you can see the loading port has 3 notches so from left to right it has 1 notch then 2 closer together that denotes its a MK3. The Mk2 has 3 notches all evenly spaced and the MK1 has no bear trap so no notches. The Mk3 has been out longer than people think. The Mk3 was released onto the market in March 1998 Sorry for correcting you I do know a fair bit about these. As a bit of trivia for you the T in the TX is in recognition of Ken Turner for his input and contribution to the guns design it would have been the X200 otherwise, hope this helps

Another great video Chris. I had my left handed TX200 HC delivered last Friday in .177. First time using a springer and using QYS 8.48gn I did a 10 shot group at 30yds and covered all 10 with a 1p coin! Amazing accuracy. Will be interesting to see how it compares to my S400 and HFT500. My one complaint would be the trigger. It has a nice first stage, but find the second stage is a bit woolly….. but hey, I can always have a look at adjusting it. Looking at the HW97k against the TX, and in my opinion the TX looks so much better 👍🏼👍🏼

I have a tx 200. but mines . 22 . normally use .177, but I like the bigger pellet for ease of getting it into the breach. a little less awkward for my clumsy fingers. it seems to like jsb jumbos. it's much better than I am, but a lovely gun to shoot

Hopefully constructive criticism, recoil management is required and shooting off a bench like this I would suggest bringing the rest back and having the rifle actually shouldered rather than resting on your hand almost hanging in thin air, put the left hand on the rest or under the rifle so it's doing something. The gun will be capable of single holes at that range, I've chased accuracy problems before that didn't exist it was simple operator error.

@@southwestshooters Knowing what to work on is a challenge, don't go in for artillery hold nonsense no way you can not touch the rifle in the real world. Learnt most of it from the centre fire lot simple marksmanship consistent and straight trigger pull-follow through, and being in a position for it to recoil against you so your body dampens the movements. I can now see the pellet in flight on longer shots with my Tx mostly standard MK2 internals. Although older ones are prone to some niggley faults like breach lockup.

Hi Chris, Thank you for your footage. Yes, I'd humbly agree. The TX is a fabulous air rifle. No air cylinder is required, just a tin of pellets. Only last night, I was zeroing in a BSA R10. As I was loading the magazines, I could see how uneven the skirts were on the pellets and made a mental note of them. As I expected, they were flyers when I shot them and struggled with my groupings. However, you know when you've aimed well and you know when you've pulled it. I know you know your stuff. You're a great, honest guy. If I were going hunting, I'd want better groups than that, or I'd expect to be just wounding, and that wouldn't suit either of us. The JSB's I was using weren't great. The Air Arms Diablo Field were worse. Many had damaged skirts. You could see as they were loaded into the magazines. I've nothing against these manufacturer's, I'm just saying what happened. Field target people, who wash etc each pellet would have thrown the lot. I'm going to have another go, but the pellets were awful. I dare say you may not notice as much loading your springer as its harder to see. You could and will achieve much better groupings than that, especially with a TX. Maybe try resting your fore end on your open palm. Hold your rifle loose and let it recoil. Do the same hold every time or being a springer, your accuracy will be different every time. Bye for now my friend, take care!

@southwestshooters Hi Chris, Thank you for your prompt reply. I am nobody to comment on anyone how to shoot. I just wanted to highlight the key elements that are crucial for springer accuracy and success, as I think you prefer pcp's.. There are lots different points to air rifle shooting. Some are passionate about the simplicity of spring air rifles, the independency of no air tank, etc. However, the way in which they work requires devotion, perseverance, and the will to succeed. Then, there are pcp people, who want to go and shoot and see success straight away. The pcp air rifles have no strong spring being thrust forward, thus producing no recoil or kick. Personally, in my situation, I wanted them all my life and began in my late forties after our dearly loved father passed away. I knew he didn't approve, and that rule carried from being children. It probably didn't help being twin to another boy who also wanted one! I'm frustrated and angry to say, thngs were much different back then. I love pcp's because they're more accurate. Your next shot is magazine fed, they're lighter to carry and are quieter to shoot. Being more accurate, they're more humane. On the other hand, you're not tied to a bottle with a springer and more independent.. I'd say a good shot from a springer is more satisfying because of the recoil and having to use and respect artillary hold.. I'd humbly say, I love having both. I yearned for them from being twelve years old. Some people think it's inhumane to shoot with spring air rifles. Ironically though, the best springer shooters are more accurate than some of the pcp people. I know of a young teenage lass, who can light a match at thirty yards with a Weihraurch 97K. That's some going and jolly well done her. I wouldn't like to have to try! Great to message again, Chris. Safe journey, best wishes, Ian.

Hi Chris, Thankyou for another great review. I agree with you. The TX is a gorgeous air rifle and performs flawlessly every time. My humble opinion is this. I don't see anything wrong with a springer. It's great not being tied to a great big air cylinder. To go hunting presents one or two issues. Your quick re load can sometimes be a fumble, and the thwack of the spring being released can scare all wildlife off. That's why when I hunt, the quietness of the shot, the re load capability and weight of the unit, the pcp always win the day. I'd love to use my springer more, but that's what it comes down to, that's the bare bones of it. Best wishes, my friend.
@southwestshooters

Ian. Thank you so much for your thoughts on this. I totally agree with you. Although I don't hunt, I know the most important thing is the safe and ethical approach to the dispatching of quarry..... Something that is greater provided by the use of a PCP. I don't currently own a springer, but when I find the right one it will be added to the collection.
