Ahhhh those early 70's days , out in the field ( had a permission the size of a small country ) only an hop over the bottom of my garden fence ... its a shopping mall & office complex now ... carrying the old ( still got it ) BSA Mercury .22 .. no scope , just open sights , you learned your hold over / under naturally , no videos back in them days , free hand , unsupported , could smack down a pigeon with an head shot a piece of cake at 50mtrs .. I was young , fit , healthy , my eyesight was excellent , my breathing was steady and consistant , now , im a wreck of a man , ravaged by the sands of time , as well as coping with the effects of chain smoking & vast amounts of super strength lager , and generally having my arse glued to the couch watching sub standard television programs ... BUT .. I saw the light , kicked the smoking habit ( 10 yrs ago ) dont drink now ( the occasional can of weakish lager , but you get what I mean ) .. and revisited my passion for air rifles around ( again ) 10 yrs ago .. with the popularity of the PCP , would I go back to those medieval days of the springer ?? Hell NO , im still a lazy sod , ain't doing that cocking nonsense ever again ... and I dont care what ANYONE says , springers are NOT as accurate as a PCP .. unless , maybe a pcp made in Papua New Guinea , or some obscure place like that ... right !! off to get me a sleeve of QYS 9.5grn ( or whatever , the heavy ones )
@@southwestshooters Well, my Dad gave me a second hand BSA Meteor for my birthday in 1969. It is still going strong, however, I have always hankered after a "Weihrauch", and decided that I would spend my first months Old Age Pension on one. What a treat! Content for my pension to go on the Grandkids from now on. Will introduce them to my "Weihrauch" when appropriate.
@@southwestshooters I am sure it will! If it lasts for 53 years, as my second hand "Meteor" has done, then it should be enjoyed by several generations. My Grandchildren should be Grandparents themselves by then.
Great rifle, got a HW77 green laminate on the way with the guys. I'd definitely prefer the traditional stock over the thumbhole stock. Be great to see a HW95k review as well.
Hi Chris I have just seen your video on the HW97 and by good luck I am now since 30-04-2022 the owner of the same. Can you let me know where I can purchese the under lever band for the sling and where are Crack shop based. Regards J C Austin
The underlever is used to compress the spring and open the sliding breech, this exposes the rear end of the barrel ,so you can load the pellet directly into the ( barrel ) do you understand that??
@@southwestshooters You should ask Eric,or James at crackshot ,if you put the pellet into the bear trap ?or load it directly into the rear of the barrel. I'm sure they will explain perfectly, I have had the pleasure of meeting both James and Eric and they both know there airguns, and run a great shop , Infact one of my favourite air rifles came from there shop .
