Disclosure: The information I have presented in this video is solely based on my experiences and observations and does not necessarily reflect the process that the company uses today.
Hello everyone! I hope that each and every one of you are having a fantastic day. In this video, I go over my experience with my Air Canada flight attendant interview. I provide a timeline as to when I first applied, all the way to when I got the job offer and the call for initial training.
I plan to do a Q&A as my next video so if you do have any questions, please comment them down below or message me on instagram with your question!

Hey Colton, I would really like to be a flight attendant at air Canada. However I only speak English. will this prevent me from being hired? Do you need to be bi lingual? also Do flight attendants choose to work where they live or do you get randomly assigned a location within Canada if you pass training? Thanks!!!!!!! 😊
@enchanterastralASMR
@enchanterastralASMR 2 года назад
Hello! It is very rare for unilinguals to be hired nowadays, so learning a second language will make you a competitive applicatant for sure. I have heard of unilingual positions offered every now and then but I have never actually seen one! You apply to the company and usually give a preference of which base you’d like. But it’s never a guarantee. So you may very well want Toronto base, but end up getting Vancouver. Hope this information helps :)

Air Canada really sucks. I wonder who would apply for a job in such a terrible company Air Canada lost my luggage in LAX. I went to Air Canada Baggage claim and filed a loss luggage report. The Air Canada employee (He and she claimed their name were Albert and Monica. All employees in the office flip their name tags inside out on purpose to hide their identities) asked me for the baggage tag stickers. I put all the baggage stickers on the last page of the passport. Albert accused me of tampering my passport. Then, he started to threaten me that it is a felony to tamper a passport. I replied to Albert, "mind your own business? I am here to report my lost luggage". Then, Albert got really upset. I started to record his behaviour over my cell phone. Albert got more upset. He called the Airport security and started to falsely accuse me of making threats to him. He requested the Airport security to send its swat team to Air Canada's office. In less than 10 minutes, a swat team came. I calmly showed the video to the swat team leader. The swat team leader apologized to me that the situation had escalated. Speaking of abusing power. Air Canada makes threats to customers who question their authority. When the customers did not comply with their undesirable demands, Air Canada called the LAX security hotline to get rid of those customers. It is similar to how a bar used their bouncers to get rid of their customers.

Hey Colten! I'm in grade 11 and I'm planning to pursue becoming a flight attendant, I am asking what flight school do you need to attend to become a flight attendant?
@enchanterastralASMR
@enchanterastralASMR 2 года назад
Hello, that’s great! And you don’t need to pursue flight school to become a flight attendant (at least not in Canada). I didn’t go to one, and I would say 95% of flight attendants didn’t go to one either. There are programs out there, but they are not necessary. I would say just try and apply to become one right after you’re done high school and see if you can get a job.

Hello! If you currently live in Montréal and they only offer you Toronto base then you can either take the job and move to Toronto or you can try and commute from Montreal by flying in (usually people who commute in have a crash pad - a room to rent where they can stay if they are on reserve or can’t make it back after a shift, etc). If you still want to live in Montréal and be based out of Montréal then you can put in a request to transfer, but it could take a while just based on needs and if someone from Montréal wants to transfer to Toronto (usually it’s hard to get Montréal base but the pandemic may have changed that, I’m not sure).

In terms of English, they want you to have a proficient level (at Air Canada mainline they grade your level from 1-4). You can be hired with a level 3 in English, but nothing lower. They would do a language test with you to determine your level. As long as you speak English to a level 3 (upper intermediate level, I would say) then any languages on top of that are a bonus (provided they are on the list of accepted languages/languages they are in need of)

@enchanterastralASMR
@enchanterastralASMR 2 года назад
Hello! I’m glad that my videos were able to help. The schedule varies a lot, so there isn’t usually an average amount of hours you work in a week. You are guaranteed 75 flight hours per month and anything you work over that, you will get paid for it. You could work 4 days on one week and 3 days off or you could work 1 day on, 2 days off, then 3 days on, or you could work 6 days on and 3 days off. It really just depends. If you are on call for 5 days straight you might not even get called for all of those days. That’s why they have a 75 hour guarantee for each month. It works very differently than à mon-fri, 9-5 job so it can be difficult to explain. And while you are away from base, the company pays for your accommodation but not your food (you do get per diems while you are away from base but you only get that money on your next pay check and not at the time of your layover).
