Adding an extension valve to the tank drain so I can easily purge and drain water/moisture after each use. This is important to keep the tank free of rust and corrosion. Corroded tanks are a very dangerous and potentially deadly due to explosions.

Thanks a lot. I have a 33 gallon compressor, after seeing a YT video this morning about an air compressor that EXPLODED AND DID A LOT OF DAMAGE, I will follow your advice.

Thanks!I had mines seating fit a year since we bought our house. Went to use it and noticed drain valve won’t close and started looking for alternatives repair options. This help since now I can use this method to drain out to my little vent in my garage Vs worrying about a tray

Yea for my 60 gallon, I open the valve once a week and just spray the water. It’s not much but good habit for keep water out of the tank.

Thank you for the video! I just ordered this. Any more details on the angle bracket you have on the ball valve?

Just a Home Depot L in the wood truss materials section.

I used to have a compressor just like that one and I literally wore it out. Very reliable but also very LOUD LOUD LOUD. Hard on the ears. I bought a 5 hp 60 gal and its a lot quieter.

I found that the oil-free compressors are 4x louder so I don't buy them.

@@Sidicas Generally that has been true but they have quiet oilless compressors now. California Air Tools and Fortress (Harbor Freight) have them. Usually the secret to their quietness is running at half the speed of a typical oilless and using two pistons instead of the typical single piston.

I purchased a Black Husky 20-gallon vertical air compressor from the marketplace yesterday. However, seller said the motor fan is broken. I've already ordered a replacement fan. The seller assured me that the compressor is less than 2 years old, despite the broken fan. He mentioned that it has been stored in my garage for about 9 months. He suggested that by replacing the fan and draining the water from the tank, it should operate like new. Is it acceptable for the water to have been sitting in the tank for approximately 9 months, considering the seller's claim that the compressor is less than 2 years old? It's my first time using an air compressor, and after watching this video, I'm a bit worried about the possibility of an explosion. :)

You can see the date code on most tanks. There’s a plate and stamp. As long as it was sealed, water isn’t an issue. I’ve left mine with moisture longer. If you want to be 100% you can hydro test with water and a pressure washer. I have a separate video on that.

@@TunerwithKids Got it, thanks. I'll be sure to watch your other video on hydro testing from your channel.

Is there a way to test for corrosion on the inside? Just picked up and old compressor that hasn't been used in at least a couple years and it sounds like there's water in there.

Hydrostatic test and scope the inside to see condition. I did it for my IR 60 gallon. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hkG8wQHu87Q.html

Make sure you actually do a true hydrotest and have it certified not just squirt water in tank with a pressure washer.
