Dear Lord... You just saved me a lot of trouble and money. My calculations were based off the box advertised., which would have been to little. I was going to buy a 8000 BTU for 300 sq ft. Your info says I need a 12, 000 BTU window unit for 300 sq. ft. when factoring in the 2nd floor factor. (Heat rises to the 2nd floor). God bless you for posting this info. 👍🏻

*So amazingly quiet and **Fastly.Cool** in my room! 42db is at a whisper level. I bought 2 and installed myself.Very sturdy bracket and easy to adjust to fit windows of different size. Absolutely fabulous units!!*

The design makes this AC a possible alternative to ductless DYI systems. It works great. The remote control could be more visual aid oriented like a backligh design. Is impossible to see the lcd at least for me. Easy install ru-vid.comUgkx_hHgTlzH3uk31Fe2RVS3xEbXHGaN_z5Tation. Came on time . Great comfort around the house 5 🌟 again. Follow mfg instructions for care and all and this should be the only AC you need for those of is that don't live in new homes with central AC

Thank you this video was perfect and helps me select the perfect BTU. I learned a lot from this video I had no idea that you had the multiply the main floor by 30 and add in additional 1000 be to you for a ceiling over 8 ft. I just replaced my 6 year-old air conditioner And come to find out the 1I had was too big for the room I finally have the correct size and I could really tell a difference it cooling and comfort. Using your formula and all my measurements by rube comes out to 7KB to you so I bought the 8K Which replaced my 10K

With his calculations I need a 24,000 BTU window AC unit. I am sorry but that is just ridiculous. A 12,000 BTU unit keeps my 480sf upstairs with 11 foot vaulted ceiling very cool when it is in the 90s outside. I also will add there is no attic above the upstairs. The whole house is very well insulated and all new windows. His calculations are by far the highest I have ever seen!!!

What if the square footage is 1800 sqft with a ceiling height of 10'-6". Its a fairly large hall with an arrangement for gatherings. According to your principle adding just 2500 BTU for such an extra volume is a little doubtful to me. May be there is a limit of sqft upto which adding 1000 btu for each foot is valid. Can you make a video explaining this aspect as well.

I bought an oversized AC unit 24,000 btu for a 300 square foot based on the recommendation of the company. They multiply by 90 here in Jamaica. Should I sell it and get a smaller one? Or can I raise the temperature? Even at 28c/82f, it still is too cold in here sometimes it is an inverter but I would like some suggestions that maybe doesn't involve selling it.

Does anyone know if the speed of the AC fan matter in BTU comfort. Based on calc i would use 7k, so should I buy a 6k or 8k which are the general options, will running at a quieter slower speed 8k be enough to get the high humidity out
@SteveStockmalMusic

Not an expert here, but I think the difference between 6 and 8 is pretty minimal, so probably go for 8. Years ago I tried to impress a band and I bought a 24,000 BTU unit for a room that really needed about 12 (according to the calculations he gave us here). A lady walked up to me and said “it’s so cold in here“. 😊

Ok, is climate a factor? I live in Thailand, and looking for a unit for 30sqm, 323square feet. AC shops are telling me I need at least 24,000btu, one technician says, 1000btu per square meter... acording to this, I need just over 14,000btu
@ZiyanJunaideen
@ZiyanJunaideen 3 года назад
I don't think that is true. So I have 310sqft office space with 2 computers, a big ass TV, some network equipment and 2 people at all times cooled by an AC that is 18000 BTU. One side gets sunlight, but I do have curtains. Still, you can feel the wall heat up. I bought the AC and got it installed at my will. They recommended me 24000BTU as they did you. I haven't felt any lack of cooling. We use it most to dehumidify. Set the temperature at 28C (outside 32) and it's very comfortable inside.

Do i spend more on energy bill if my ac btu is higher than a desired room?
@Toliman.
@Toliman. 4 года назад
If it has an inverter, or temperature sensing, no. The BTU is the peak, but energy efficient models can drop to 20% or lower cooling capacity, while keeping the same volume of air cycling Ideally, you want the air volume to be constantly flowing and recycled and for the cooling to have excess capacity for new heat sources ie. Sunny days. Open windows and doors. Groups of people, etc. The compressor should hit the desired effect temperature and be able to "slow down" or work less often, but if the BTU capacity can't be easily dispersed, then you get cold/hot spots.

Not in modern ACs, but as said, it can affect dehumidification which is more important than cooling. If it shuts off too early, it won't remove as much water from the air.
@edithnogueira7899
@edithnogueira7899 5 лет назад
The calculation done here is wrong. You will ended up with a larger air condition, that will be turning on and off very quick, not removed the humidity.
