Installed an Air Dryer System with my Husky 60 gallon air compressor in my home garage shop. Getting ready to paint my 78 Monte. Dry air is very important when painting.

*Construction seemed sturdier than other units I considered **MyBest.Tools** Noise level was reasonable. Good pressure and cfm capacity for a small reasonably light compressor.*

This is almost exactly like my setup, I built about 10 years ago right down the the filters and dryers great job... someone in the comments ask about the desiccant... I live in Nevada... (fairly dry MOST OF THE TIME... ) I have pretty much the same size dryer and my desiccant lasted about two years of occasional use.... but really it all depends on where you live and how often you use the system. The nice part is you can remove the crystals, stick ‘em in the oven on low for a couple hours and they are good as new...

You could disconnect the main line from your compressor and feed your system....then return to your tank...and then run your dryer/reg/filter from the tank outlet. That approach will cool the compressed air before it returns to the tank and decrease the moisture from ever entering your system. You'll be amazed by how much better it works.

Exactly what I did on my build. I also added an oil feeder to the output for my air tools with a bypass T to separate the lines (dual feeds) for Painting vs tooling. It is so smoothly operatinig I was absolutely impressed ....... I tuned in to have a look at the build and was wondering why folks do not consider taking the HOT AIR and cooling it before ever entering the tank. My Tank has been in service since 1996. 1 New Motor, and after 17 years I sealed the inside of the tank to totally prevent corrosion after having it cleaned out. Was barely surface rust but I wanted it out before sealing. This way is the absolute BEST way to extend the life of you tank and systems. It also extends tool life greatly.
@leegarcia81
@leegarcia81 Год назад
@@anonimous2451 not only this but why is everyone using all those valves , they arent cheap and you could get a better result if you would pipe those all into 1 valve at the bottom , the additional line space would work as dead legs to accumulate more liquid , you could even use clear hose to show when theres a liquid level
@anonimous2451
@anonimous2451 Год назад
@@leegarcia81 Not exactly Lee. Using my system I find most collected waper vapor in the first line, then less on each valve after. I started just cracking the first line during use and have no drainage from the 3rd line set. The valves are insignificant in cost compared to protecting Plasma Tables from water in the line that eats up the tip consumables.

Great build. Condencing the water out of air works best when the air is cooling right as it goes into your compressor tank. You will have better results plumbing this from your compressor output into your tank. It will be less moisture in tank, and remove even more waterr before it hits your expensive dryer.

This may be a silly question but I'm just neck deep in research at this point, I just picked up a 60 gallon DeWalt compressor the other day. The purpose of these piping setups is to cool and remove moisture from the air going to the tools/paint ect correct? My main question is regarding protecting the inside of the air compressor from rusting, is draining the bottom tank drain daily enough to stop it from rusting inside? Does this setup have anything to do with the inside of the compressor itself or just the outgoing air from it? Thanks!
@StillStandingGarage

This set up is to remove moisture and is only after air has left the compressor. I drain the water from the compressor every day that I use it. Hope that answers your questions.

Great set up! I couldn't read any of your reply's? So here is the question, where did you find your filter/drier? You listed all other parts but that? Also, desiccant, to save some $$$ I use the blue kitty litter, same thing as desiccant but a lot cheaper, and when in a bind, you can NUKE it, it will dry it for a few more uses :-) Thanks for the video!

Thank you! I got the dryer system from USAWELD.COM. I usually bake the desicant beads once they're saturated. I do it 3 times then replace with new ones.

Very Nice, also very expensive. PVC will work too right?

Thank you! From my research I learned that with time PVC can crack and/or shatter which is why I went with copper

Hey bud, how much was all the copper? That air dryer looks like it was $350. Also, what did Home Depot charge you to deliver the compressor and pipes? Thanks! :)
@StillStandingGarage

I spent about $140 for all the copper. Some of the copper fittings I bought on Amazon. Links for those are in the description. Yes, that's the price for the dryer system. Home Depot charged $80 to deliver both.
