Thank you. I got my oil changed today and my car stopped a few blocks away when I slowed down. I was able to restart and it got me home. The car shop was closing when I left so I couldn’t go back. They had checked the air filter but didn’t reattach the hose causing the engine to go out. I reattached it and it is working great again. Thank you for the detailed steps.

Good video my Malibu was accelerating by itself and Idling rough while in park. I couldn’t figure out where the last screw was (middle of the night) this video showed me the back one ☝️ and yes air filter was indeed the problem the car is running smooth again hopefully that helps anyone!

I just used this video to replace my air filter. Overall, it was very helpful. However, you do not need to cut the parts that hold on the electrical connector. You can still maneuver the old filter out and the new one in without cutting them. I cut one and not the other, but then realized you don't have to cut them at all.

I am sure you could do it in a way not to cut them, but there was so much tension on mine and cable ties are cheap so I cut.

Does it mean I need to change my air filter ?? My car would jerk while driving and then it would cut off it’s a ‘15 Malibu btw … is my air filter is the reason why this is causing the car to do this ? When I replace it with a new filter will it run back normal ??

Da engine light might come on for dat if da filter is so clogged it's starving da engine for air

It'll be similar. You would have the 1.5 or 2.0 Turbo in a 2017. This is a 2.5 NA engine. But the idea would be the same. Filter would be a different part number though

You gain huge power with it. Plus the sicker that comes in the box gains you even more if you place it on your car in a cool spot.

Air filters aren't really going to make or break your car. Just make sure you have one in there. The benefit to a K&N filter on any car that you plan to keep for a while is that you can reuse the filter. You buy the filter and recharge kit and that is usually less than the cost of a couple quality filters.
