A fine Murican If you want to be a dick, check out the page Dysfunctional Veterans on Facebook and ask them. If you don't want to be a dick, get them a card.
FINALLY A FEMALE THAT TALKS ABOUT BMT!! Thank you so much, I am a high school senior and joining the air force is still a going process. You're super pretty and your helping me a lot so thank you!
This was very encouraging to watch, because I recently told my mom that I want to join the Air force and she was really putting it down. So thanks this made me feel a whole lot better.
Matthew Pittman It's your life. Don't let someone hold you back from doing what you wanna do. I ship October 3rd and didn't let anyone's opinion get to me
I’m not really scared of waking up early or the exercise, I’m just scared of being screamed at all day and making a mistake. I’m just sensitive. If there wasn’t screaming and intimidation involved, I’d be more likely to enlist...
It’s that much stuff because you’ll likely be in a plane on radio with people being shot down and making sure you follow orders and not instinct War is really bad, I once was there, and boot camp seems like kindergarten compared to war Lots of yelling to do stuff without hesitation
Don’t let your fears stop you. I’m most likely gonna enlist and I’m scared of the same thing you are but you can’t let your fear run you. Bc you will have an experience that you will never have again and will never forget! Life is short do something you want to do and don’t let anything stop you.
wow! kind of honored a prior MTI is watching my videos haha. That would be REALLY cool! That perspective isn't out there right now and even i'd be interested in your thoughts.
Im leaving Tomorrow. I’m staying at the hotel tonight and then waking up at 4 am. I can only do 2 push ups, I can run 1 mile in 11 min, 20 crunches in 1 min and ZERO pull ups. I’m not nervous because I believe in myself. If anyone is interested, I can post my experience after I graduate (12/28).
Just a heads up, it's going to be a bummer being away from your spouse during BMT and it's going to suck for him too. My wife and I send letters back and forth all the time, but it's not fun being apart. Just know that it's only temporary and you'll both be fine. Good luck at basic, ma'am!
(02:29) Did she just say that they make the men and women get butt naked together? I have a military spouse in basic training right now and if that’s the case, there’s going to be an issue (between me and the administration in charge, not between me and my wife) when she graduates. That’s sexual harassment and law suit worthy. I hope i’m misunderstanding this, please someone let me know. Im already sceptic of the military and how trustworthy they are (look at our veterans and all the stories attached to the military), so this obviously doesn’t help me as a now military spouse waiting for my wife to get done.
I was in the army. Of what I heard, the airforce does not really go gung ho like in the army or go fanantical like in the marines. In the airforce they need people who can think.
Thank you so much Miranda . My daughters just arrived last night at 6pm at Lackland ! She was nervous and so was I (dad). She is the 5th generation of soldier in my family and Extremely proud of her. I remember Army boot camp 20 yrs ago and feared it would be hard for her as it was for me . I was a Combat Engineer so they had to be tough on us but have been preying not so for her. Got the phone call just 3 hrs ago from her that she was there and safe but it was so short and sounded staged (pre-written ) it kinda got me worried . After watching your video I'm very relieved and happy knowing its not like the Hell we went through but enjoyed so many years ago .She a very strong and healthly young woman and now know she will do well !!Cannot thank you enough !!
Honestly this video made me feel so much better about joining the Air Force. My mom has been pushing me to do it & i wasn't so sure but now I feel much more comfortable about making my decision.
Aumi Shiba I am too, I still managed to get a decent score and pass the pre test. If you figure out a MOS that you want work on the minimum score and it really helps with motivation(:
Bro, I'm the worst person EVER in math...literally, I've had to go to Summer School since my Freshman year of Highschool for math. But somehow, I managed to make an 81 on the ASVAB...Complete and utter shock to me tbh. The Mechanical part about knowing about levers and wedges and nails was the hardest part to me, I don't know jack about Cars, and somehow still made a 116 on it.
MOPP : Mission-Oriented Protective Postures. I wish i had a video like this before I joined. All I had was my dad saying "you'll be fine boy get out there"
The physical part isn't hard... you'll get over that. It's the psychological aspect, the sleep deprivation, the lack of food and the constant onslaught of information. Of course, I attended BMT about 10 years ago, soooooo I'm sure things have changed.
Aaron Cardwell I plan on joining the Air Force in 2 years when I graduate.i was wondering is it really that bad when you were butt naked in front of other guys what did you do?
I'm soooo scared. I'm trying to do PT to prepare, I was told to try and be invisible. don't fall behind either stay in the middle or be in the front. hair can't be two colors and tattoos will be critiqued
They're just people..... all they want is to know you have the endurance to be used and abused by the government (which as a white doesn't work for your interests these days). They look for people with next to no dignity honestly.
Mary Hicks don't be scared! You hair just needs to be a natural color, and minus PT time (which is so early it'll still be dark out) you will be in full uniform so they most likely won't see your tattoos!
Just do your best, listen (that's why they're yelling). And enjoy how simple life is while you're there, it will never be that way again lol. But def try your best. I didn't put myself out there but MTIs do notice leadership qualities in people and what you do in BMT CAN help you later in your career. One of the main reasons I won BTZ was because I had leadership roles in each level I'd been in since I joined.
I just signed up and I'm currently in the DEP. Thank you for the information. I don't have much military knowledge so this was a great video on what is to come.
Mason Kenny Im in tech school now. this seems to be a tiny bit outdated... However it is not bad and it may suck at first, but you get better and the yelling starts to die down.
This was incredibly helpful! Thank you so much! Basic trainning and the worry of my physical perfirmance seriously intimidated me in my decision to join the airforcee. Watching your video silent my doubt and really deflated how big a deal I made it in my mind. I'm excited to get started!
It can be fun or can be not so fun - it is up to the person! 7 weeks of training and one week of enjoyment from all your hard work! If you make this choice prepare - check you self and any attitudes towards authority figure crap. This is not the place for childish non-sense! Best approach is this is a personal challenge and you will succeed! Upper body prep goes a long way and start way before leaving - delayed enlistment can help serve you in this transition. Also you get paid for that period retro active and any college goes toward a stripe with pay on the get go! BMT Broken down to Intro to military life - yelling at you and pressure to perform is kids play so don't get worked up and play the game with speed and confidence. Week 2 you begin getting into the actual training and physical fitness while still processing. Week 3 - ramps up and start education and warrior training. Week 4 - TI's relax and you should be getting the hang of it. Week 5 - Real training kicks in - chemical warfare, range, marching skills and of course PT. Week 6 - Ramps up some more - history class and first aid as well as combat stuff to get ready for BEAST week - confidence course REAL FUN! Week 7 - BEAST WEEK. Deploy to the annex for the week and train like combat and defense skills. Exhausting but fun. Team work and cool stuff! This is the real graduation! Week 8 - Airman' week - TI's cool and helpful - get awards and do the Airman's Run, parade and Town pass! Congratulations You did it!
my boyfriend is actually at basic training for the airforce and i've actually been thinking about enlisting too. The thing that holds me back is PT, but your video helped me to be honest. I know it's scary, but it'll be worth it in the end. I'm thinking of talking to a recruiter soon. ❤️
My boyfriend shipped out for BMT yesterday for the Air Force. Joining has been on my mind but I’d like to hear his experience and input. This video makes me feel that I can do it for sure! life is crazy rn but I’m sure it’d be a good thing to think about joining later ☺️ did you join?
I'm only in 7th grade, and my brother is in the Airforce. He inspired me and I'm now hopefully going into the Airforce! Edit: my brother was also in the 320th squadron😂❤️ I still remember his little chant thing they did "3 what's it feel like 2 to be bit by 0 by the gator oh oh oh oh"
Thank you for sharing this. My daughter is really wanting to join and i have no clue about what happens when you join any branch of the military so this was very reassuring for me. I hope you're doing well now cause you posted this video 3 years ago so im sure things have changed in your life. Anyway, thanks for your service and for this video!!!! 🇺🇸
I lived on a multi branch post back in the 90's. Even thought it was an Army base the Air Force had the best of everything. New Barracks, chow hall, etc. The Army lived in barracks that were like ghetto buildings from the 60's with steam heat that barely worked in the winter and no AC in the summer.
your videos are THE BEST. i’m only a sophomore in highschool but my parents are constantly pressuring me to figure out what i want to do when i’m older and i’ve become super passionate about the air force, despite fear, and your videos rlly help
Thank you for this video. My daughter is heading to the airport to fly from MEPS to San Antonio right now. My wife and I were in the Army so we really didn't know what to expect from the Airforce Basic Training. Also thank you for your service.
Thank you so much for this video. I leave the day after I graduate high school, which is 43 days. My mom was in Air Force and I'm so excited and nervous all the same.
Wow, this was really helpful!! Thank you for this because im really thinking of joining but also I think about boot camp and how hard it would be but hearing from you seems like a fun experience to do!! Thank you so much!!
I am glad they do not have the stress cards, that was some weird rumor. Yes graduating basic training was a huge milestone in my life. Served 1976 to 1982 Staff Sergeant! Proud of my service! Strategic Air Command until I discharged in June 1982!
I'm 13 and I've always wanted to be in the Air force, specifically flying jets ext. And I know that you don't get to do it the first day, it takes years of being in the Air force and years of training to become a piolet but it just seems so cool and I can't wait until I'm older and get to be in the Air Force. The only thing that doesn't sound at all appealing and I would never want to do is be naked in front of alot of people.
I did Basic at Lackland in June of 1982 and it was only tough because of the humidity. I stayed in for 10 yrs and separated with Bill Clinton's RIF. I miss the life. I live a short distance from Edwards AFB but don't have access to the Base. I really enjoyed my 6 yrs in Europe.
Pt expectations: warhawk My expectations: thunderbolt What I got: 84.6 (it's pretty average) This video represent expectations: oh it's easy. It's only easy if you do the minimums. Males is 33 pushups, 44 situps, 13:37 for the 1 mile and a half. Those are minimums. She already told you the minimums for females. Overall if your a female its literally a walk through the park for you. 18 push ups in 1 minute... situps are the same bit than the run they get 3 minutes more. ....utilizing the latrines you dont need a wingman anymore unless if you are outside. If you're outside you need a wingman to escort upstairs or to a porta potty. I got to ask, since you made sound like a vacation. An that is what squadron were you a part of? Disneyland or Alcatraz (new school and old school)?
This was interesting. I've been out of the Air Force for almost exactly 8 months now but still get a little nostalgic when I see vids about BMT or something.
It's not scary. In the moment it is and 9 1/2 weeks seems like forever but looking back it was fun and short. The ladies in our defac serving all the food always said "For you sir?" in like super high pitched voices so we had something to laugh at after MTI tools
I went through a long time ago. It is a lot like a boy scout camp but with discipline. It is very easy compared to the other services. We were trained to provide more technical service than to be a combat service. Much has changed. Being yelled out is nothing.
Congratulations to you and Kyle on getting married! I stumbled on t your page after going to "Gott Love". Another Air Force Airman and his wife that does videos.
Thank you!! This is so awesome! I'm seriously thinking about joining the air force in an effort to pay for my college and serve in the military because I have always been fond of the military. My boyfriend is in the Army National Guard, (he hates it mainly because of all the "bs" and wishes he'd have joined the Air Force, but oh well). Thanks for this video girl, it is very insightful and makes me feel better about Basic because that was my main issue!
I'd love to be an F-22 pilot. I know it's stupid for me to say this right now as an 11 year old, but I always watch documentaries about the Air Force which really grabs my attention, but my mother thinks it's a bad idea but whatever.
hi, Miranda. I am laccorey. and I just wanted to let u know even though u r an American and I am a Canadian, I appreciate your service. I just subscribed to your chanel. thank u for your service. laccorey.
In the middle of being cleared for my knee surgery I had back in 2014 & I really pray everything goes well, because your video has really made me anxious to go I really want to be apart if the US AIR FORCE 🙃
Not to rain on your parade. But I would join Air Force or Navy. They are a lot more classy with what they do. Especially if you want to be treated with respect. The Army is not as good as it used to be.😊
this video helped so much :) my boyfriend just left to start his air force training and i was really worried for him but your video helped to clear things up and make me feel so much better haha
NO FEAR! I speak from personal experience, you build things up in your head to be more than they are. When I went through "HAPPY VALLEY USA" (JSA Lackland aka Lackland AFB back in the day) you learned to take it one thing at a time, one moment at a time. If there's anything I remember more than anything about it, that would have to be the confidence (obstacle) course. In my flight ✈️ we had some of the most uncoordinated people you ever saw! One guy we called Tarzan and his buddy we called him George of the Jungle (watch ⌚ out for that tree!!!) I remember the T.I. @ the cliff yelling down "AIRMAN! GET YOU @$$ES UP HERE ON THE DOUBLE!!! DON'T MAKE ME COME DOWN THERE HERO! AND DON'T MAKE ME LATE FOR LUNCH!!! I loved BMT @ Lackland! (NOW I'D rather have a BLT and call 📞 it a day!)
@3:43min we had a cadence/abbreviated jody we called out to the new baby flights ✈️/Rainbow 🌈 flights "Rainbow! Rainbow! Don't be blue! Our recruiter $cr
@5:38min P.T.! Oh what joy! To go and do calisthenics and run 🏃♂️! (RUN FORREST! RUN!) Back in the day we did P.T. for 1 hour and ran for 15 minutes and gradually worked our way up to a mile. We did our calisthenics 3 days a week and ran 3 days a week. Alternating each every other day. Basic was for 8 weeks back in the late 1970s. We added a quarter of a mile to each weeks 3 days of running. 6 days @ 1/4 mile, 6 days @ 1/2 a mile, all the way until week 8 where we ran our 1 mile 6 days the last 2 for the grade and the final day for any stragglers who were given 1 last shot to make the cut. The USAF has evolved and modified its training methodology and no two flights of any period historically have the same experience but the service ethos is the same.
I’ve heard so many different things when comes to basics some that it was rough and just straight out terrible then some videos sayen it was easy I’ve heard from the bad videos it’s like oh we pt for 4 hours ect
I really really want to join the Air Force... but I’m overweight :( Ive already lost 15 pounds and I’ve got 15 more to go! Im not scared of any of it I’m so ready. You’re so inspiring. Thank you!
