At Port San Antonio, Texas, the Air Force Medical Service flexes its muscles. Inside a massive warehouse, row after row of neatly stacked pallets, loaded with enough medical equipment to build several 25 bed portable hospitals in any hot spots around the globe in minimal time, are stored and kept on standby for shipping. But before that can happen, technicians check every piece of surgical equipment, inspect drugs for potency, and test Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning systems before they’re shipped out.
