Got a work order for one air handler blowing warm which goes from controller problems to Chiller Alarms , tripped 175 amp breaker for pump motors, low meg reading on one motor , here’s what I found #chiller #hvac #controller
Grinds my gears to have an outside company controlling a building and i have no access. Thankfully just about all of our buildings are self governed. Situations like this is where a signal generator shines. Had to use mine yesterday to prove some VFD'S were working properly. Loosing a pump can put a hamper on things. You handled it all like a champ and a pro. Great video as always
Yeah our EMS is all in house, problem is only a few techs for over 200 sites. That signal generator would have been perfect, got to get one. There’s a lot of construction going on too, the Head end also being updated as a separate project. Keeps me busy. I appreciate you Jason 👊👍
EMS is always a major PITA. As for the motor failures, especially at the wee hours of the morning, the client needs to lay into the power company and demand (by legal action if necessary) ALL of the system logs for the feeder servicing the plant. They are either getting total short term intermittent phase losses, or some serious (or even long term borderline) voltage imbalances. There is no reasonable excuse for the repeated motor failures. On second thought, and more likely, another possibility to explore is the feed to that particular motor, since if I am correct this was the same plant where the electricians screwed up before. There is a loose or bad connection somewhere in the feeder, or at the breaker, or a defective or worn out breaker.
It doesn’t help that there are crews working doing renovations along with outages, we have electricians getting ready to replace all disconnects to fused and go through the feeder . Doing my best to prevent these situations. Thanks for the comments, much appreciated 👍

@@subcoolHVAC thanks for the videos. A lot of this stuff is still gray to me but I'd like to work on the big stuff like you someday. I'm an apprentice and I've went through a trade school already. Im hoping a union can help me out with this sort of stuff. Don't want to work for another crappy company again. Thanks.
When the breaker has tripped and that is the lowest reading of the three motors on that circuit we don’t throw fire to it, a follow up will be done since the other motors tested 500 meg. It’s a clean fairly new motor. Thanks for the comment 👊
