I have had this problem two times, both on ICP units. Spray coil with JET DRY dishwasher spot remover. Use it straight and cover the entire coil. You do not have to wait on it to dry, you have now fixed the problem. Also had a HVAC Tech say he sprays his coils with Windex. Don't know for sure this works but he said it did. Hope this helps. God Bless

My 15 year old Carrier had the exact problem. Coil cleaned and still dripping straight down. I went and replaced the whole unit inside and out. I would have liked to use this tip.

Just had this happen in the last two weeks to a system that was installed in Feb 2018, it looks brand new still. The condensation is just pouring out. Its still under warranty but it could take months to get the new coil. Carrier made our HVAC techs clean it twice before they would warranty it. I would try this but if I fix it then the HVAC company may not get reimbursed for it.

Carrier actually make a aluminum face plate for coils called a Drip Eliminator. Hard to get but they exist.
@sroberds640
@sroberds640 2 года назад
I can't find a picture of it but its over $2,000.00 if this what your talking about, Drip Eliminator (39MA40034407), might be a bit pricey for most people but I could maybe see using it if you had a $40k freezer for a business that was to costly to replace.

@@sroberds640 I remember they were like $300 back in the 1990’s which was outrageous for the time.

Please advise. My air handler has this problem, water dropping off the coil. Unit is only 3 years old. The dripping has been going on for the last 2 years out of the 3. My AC installer said Trane will write off the coil as a warranty write off, but the installer wants $2,500 to do the switch out and advised against doing the swap because the water droplets are being dried by the fan. Thanks for any input!

I thought oil on the evaporator would cause water to back up instead of travel down the fins, due to the surface tension created.

Okay. I believe I may have a dry coil. Like he said a leak. But if this works …..genius. I have a 2018 trailer with evaporator over electric heater. It’s dripping all over the fan and eventually will run out on the floor. Will measure temp of individual coils. Just had it recharged. It was icing. So. Probably a leak. We’ll figure it out sooner or later. Thanks for the great video.

Exactly what mine does, i have to clean the coils once a month to keep it from dripping and keep a dehumidifier in front of air intake. I tried to use some ceramic detailing spray i use on my motorcycle lol and exacerbated the issue

Not yet. Had some health issues. But I will clean all the coils. Check Freon levels. Try Pam if the cleaning doesn’t work and then I’m thinking piano wire or even yarn to wick it into the catch basin. I haven’t found any hvac person that has seen this issue. It’s a Doozy for sure.

I have a brand new Goodman and within 2 weeks it's already dripping off the coil and missing the pan of course the guy who installed it is not taking any responsibility. Number one I noticed a couple areas where the fins are smashed. Don't know if that happened when they handle it or if it came that way from the factory it actually I didn't notice this happening till he hit the condensation pipe with a hammer to break it off. The reason he did that is it was leaking where the condensation pipe attached to the pan. I believe because he didn't use any plumbers tape. Anyway that's how he took the old pipe off. Not sure what he caused by hitting the pipe that was attached to the pan but maybe that's causing the problem. Are you sure this oil can cause no damage or cause the air conditioner run less efficiently. I sure wish I could get this guy to fix this thing properly since he just installed it a couple weeks ago but he seems very dishonest

That slab coil will only DRIP like that due to oils/debris present on coil. Clean return side with decreased really good and problem will cease. Don't believe me?? Call carrier tech support. They will confirm it.

So if you look with a thermal camera you will see hot spots where the water is falling from. The answer is replacing the coil. I’ve seen it a dozen times. You can use Jet Dry and that will provide temporary fix but the coil has to be replaced. I wish I could upload a pic to show everyone but spraying Pam or Replacing isn’t the fix. Jet Dry can hold you over till you get a new coil but if it’s still under warranty you can’t go spray Pam every month or replace the system. Good for this tech that he got creative and found a temp fix but Pam, Oil or Jet Dry work like RainX and makes the water bead and run down the coil properly however it’s not a “fix” and you will be back

Mine is only 2 weeks old and it's happening and of course the guy who installed it is playing dumb like it's supposed to happen. Doesn't admit to anything even though everything's supposed to be warranted. When the condensation pipe was leaking where it was connected to the pan he hit it with a hammer to break it off and then showed me it was cracked. Like I'm stupid or something. Even after he replaced it with a new connection it's still leaking probably because he isn't using any plumbers tape and also because he shouldn't have hit the PVC pipe that was connected to the pan. That's actually when the coil started dripping outside of the pan and of course this guy denies everything

wow...coat the fins with an oil so the heat cant dissipate? Im not an engineer, or HVAC guy, bu tthis seems like it WILL help water drain off the coils but ALSO cause MORE water to collect because youre taking away the thermal properties of raw bare aluminum fins.
