Jordan 1's (AJ1) Mid Sneaker Review - Leather Quality is always debated in the sneaker community so i cut these All White Jordan 1 in half to see how they are built and to review the leather quaility. I was actually really surprised by what i found and actually got quite a few things wrong that i guessed before cutting them in half. Air Jordan 1 Shattered Backboard 1.0 are coming up next as soon as we hit the 100k subscriber mark.

Cee.matic like when they were complaining about the new royal ones cause of the tumbled leather but it wasn’t a heavy tumble it was a softer leather than the previous releases. And I was like “y’all don’t care about quality the new ones are better quality the 2012’s were complete trash quality.” And everybody was mad like really offended 😭

Im a sneaker head and I know that most shoes aren’t good quality. But I think I speak for most sneaker heads when I say, we talk about some Jordan’s being better quality than other. We are comparing Jordan’s to Jordan’s most of us know they are much worse quality than some handmade boots.

Thankn Now I can go follow Seth as well lol My son-in-law sent me this video have like 40 pairs of Nike, Air Jordans, Jordans etc... I mean I collected them over the years and I barely wear them when I don't wear them like clean them and I stuff them back with their paper and put them in the right box lol This really did hurt to watch these get cut lol I'm not even halfway through it yet😂 I really do love the educational side of this though Thank you so much! @@RoseAnvil Would you consider to do a pair of Reebok Leather Classic or Club C? Some of them are made of really soft and supple leather yet priced quite low. The leather look thicker at the edge than Nike and Adidas, even their "classic" models.

last of the mohawks I’ve seen shoes that were older where the soles were fine. Others that had cracked soles. Probably depends a lot on how they were stored and how much they were worn.

@last of the mohawks most older sneakers (especially Nike) that are deadstock (never worn) tend to crack but most sneakers that are worn semi frequently tend to not crack ,some white shoes also get a horrible yellow color if stored inproperly for a few years

As a sneaker head myself, I can assure you sneaker heads are stupid when it comes to determining good quality or bad quality. I’ve had plenty tell me that Jordan 1 mids are the highest quality leather you can get. Some have told me that I’m wrong for even thinking that Nike/Jordan would use synthetic materials in their shoes. I hope they see this video

10:02 On camera you can actually see a difference in color between the leather and plastic parts. It´s kind of expensive for a basic plastic shoe.

@@RoseAnvil I just looked at the prices in comparison to some other shoes and boots you tore apart, and well, theese Air Jordan Mid are 110€ over here, the Clarks Desert are 81€, the Blundstone 550 are 140-150€, the Timberland Premium are 116€ - I just don´t think 110€ is a fair price for what these shoes are.

@@yrg9996 Not every release or retro needs to get ripped apart. He could buy like 3-4 used pairs on ebay. It will be cheap. I think he should try to get a pair from the late 90s, then mid 2000s, then maybe mid 2010s.

That typical sneaker stitch is called strobel after the machine they made it with. Actually the whole construction type is called Strobel, it's the method of creating a sock like upper and then join it to the sole. The right way to make athletic shoes. Cut P.F Flyers please.

To me, the toe box material is the make-or-break when it comes to AJ1s, especially mids. There are some mids, whether SE or regular, that have leather that is a lot easier to walk in. I would get an mid SE version or an OG High if I had to.

You did mentioned about the embossed pebbled leather at the start and after the cross section analysis, the leather was found to be made from splits. Shouldn't it give suede feel and how is it possible to embossed it to make it look like a high quality leather?

I'm guessing the expensive ones are going to be more or less exactly the same, just with a different color scheme and the ankle is higher. Children do not typically use high quality materials when manufacturing shoes for Nike.

Something that could be cool to do is, if you don't feel particularly attached to the shoes you don't cut in half, maybe finding an amputee that wants them. You'd be doing a good thing, and I think that would be a great thing to see, especially in these COVID-19 times.

i'm pretty sure those J1 SBBs are going to be of (or at least near) the same quality as those white J1s. Most Jordan silhouettes (if not all) become more expensive due to their colorway (OGs) and who ever collaborated with Nike. It's sad that the quality of leather (or lack thereof) is not the basis of the price.

Nice review, You need to do an Nike sb dunk specially ones from 2004-2009 and you can do the newer ones which have the different sole. But the prices are ridiculous but can get some beat down ones on eBay though 🙌

ok here is a weird one. I typically buy non-leather shoes. I wonder how some of the leather alternatives measure up. Not the plastic synthetic leathers but like mushroom leather, pineapple leather or cactus leathers. Puma made some of these, a brand called Clae made some cactus leather shoes.. they feel so nice! any interest in breaking down and comparing something like that?

Hey Rose grate channel! I've been following your channel for a couple of moths. Great job you have here! In December (2019) I had a struggle between buying a pair of Doc's made in England and Salomon X-Ultra Mid 3. I don't know if you've ever wear a Salomon shoe but those are really great and I would like to see what is inside those. One of my favourite features is how comfortable are. The Gore-Tex is awesome and the Ortholite is great also. I really would like to take a glimpse inside those shoes please consider to rip one of those! Btw... I choose the Salomon just after watching your video between the Doc's and the Soleovair!

Jordan brand loves using polyurethane for everything, the Jordan 3-9 use polyurethane midsoles. But I've noticed on newer Jordan 1s (especially with the Chicago colour blocking) they have been putting alot of polyurethane on the leather as a finisher, which is a shame because it doesn't break in as fast.

Most generic J1s are about USD105-115 depending on the release. Those that sat for a while or went to the Nike Outlet Store would be cheaper.

Please don't destroy those shattered blackboards. You need to know that the price of an AJ1 has nothing to do with the quality material. Sure the mids and lows are a tad bit cheaper, but overall. every AJ1 High is pretty much the same. Those Shattered Blackboards are still $160 shoes. Their value is based on rarity and colorway. I've got a common pair of High OG AJ1's what have much better leather than those due to the style and yet you can get them for under the retail price (about $150 if you get lucky in StockX). Hell, a common pair of Air Force One's has better leather than some AJ1's! This will prove nothing!
