analytics probably told them and predicts what materials would last longer and feel more comfy, etc along with trying to be cost effective as well. aside from materials i just don’t see how they couldn’t match paint and shape to the very least.

These were a must for me this year. Hoping Jordan Brand continues with the 85 cut with some more OG colorways in the future. Would love to see the royals in the 85 cut
You have to consider that back in 84, 85 there were many fabrics producing the same shoe...not every 85 is the same. Everyone keeps saying how the Grey's are not the same in this model.. but how about 35.. 36 years of oxidation, degradation etc... Is hard to compare a brand new shoe with a 36year old one based on the colors, or basically on anything else. Imo this 85 cut make every other retro look fake.
Facts I Seen It Everywhere Either They Have Half Brownish Midsoles Messed Up Outsoles Etc It’s Weird That People Who Doing The Restorations & Customizing 1s Look Like 85 Pair But Make Them Terrible Like 85’ That Are Conditioned Like That I Mean I Understand That It’s Vintage & All I Want Make It Brand New
I have theorised that because of the way 85 versions ran small the 2020/21 versions have a buldge at the end of the toebox to allow room for TTS fitting as they have been copied pretty closely, I think it was either change the shape to allow room or create the release all running small
Not too disappointed with the shoe I love them, but Nike had one job and they failed to deliver imo, don’t get me wrong shoe is fire and I respect them but not the 85’ I expected.
