hey zach please do a performance review on the air jordan 12 retro the one with all leather upper please i am a fan im from the philippines and a hooper too
Hi Zach - could you get a free international shipping on Move for us internationals? - we would still have to pay import customs fees, but it would help some - for us to get a hold of them.
@FootDoctorZach - I have had a pair of Game Day Pros and they have worked very well with the AJ35s! Very solid performance and unexpectedly protection from the side-effects of the eclipse plates (which otherwise irritated the foot). So, I have got a second pair of GDPs for the AJ38s! However, with the full length zoom being on top but crucially being narrower than the foot bed, the GDPs make the whole feel unstable. This is because the curve of the GDPs is a almost a reflection of the curve that the FLZoom creates leaving a lot of empty space on the sides. 😕 Interestingly, Nike's [cheap] insoles deal with this by being thinner in the middle and thicker on the sides! So, for the AJ38s, I have reverted back to the original insoles and will keep the GDPs for my next shoes.
Apparently the 38 has a few callouts to the Jordan 8 in the design, the X shaped plate on the bottom was inspired by the X shaped straps on the 8. And the lateral upper design is a reference to Jordan's stats in the 1993 Finals (played in the Jordan 8). Medial is the Bulls' record in the 92-93 season Lateral side: 41 crosshatches = 41 points per game, the squiggly pattern is 6.3 assists per game, and 8.5 lines = 8.5 rebounds per game Medial side: 3 diamonds = 3rd championship, 57 tally marks + 25 chevrons = Bulls were 57-25 in the regular season looks like there might be some other things hidden on there too, on the plastic thing on the side of the plate you can see 23 little circles on it
After Zach’s performance review from the outside, The Sole Drop’s performance review, and WearTesters written review, the Air Jordan 38 seems to be a very promising performance shoe, along with a spectacular appearance in my opinion. Looking forward to getting these on court to see for myself!
This is the first Jordan I've bought that isn't the 1 thru 14. From 15 to 37, I thought they looked like cartoony space boots. These look updated yet I could see MJ wearing them. I picked up the orange, red, and the light marine (fadeaways). Really like this shoe.
I have the 37's and I plan on getting these too. Really dig that Zoom Strobel cushioning. I also like how they stay true to size.... all Air Jordan silhouettes going back to the 1's I can rock in a 13 while basically EVERY other Nike signature shoe(KD's Kobes, Freaks and so on) I need in a 14
Thanks for the review doc! I've been really enjoying the Jump 2s (4 runs so far) but this was also on my list of shoes to cop this year. They look so nice. Having said that, it does seem the cushion/shank set up is for lighter players. So as a heavy set center, even with orthos, I'm debating if I should grab these or just another pair of jump 2s.
I absolutely love the design of these shoes. However, the biggest problem with this pair is that the rubber out-sole near the plastic X-plate unglues so easily - I played in these for just 1 game (in door court), the rubber out-sole came right off near the X-plate. I think this is due to both the design and quality issues.
Just ordered the Fundamentals this morning. Looking forward to putting them on the court. Great video. I'm going to try out some of the orthotics as well.
Jus got a pair...no clunky heel, less cushion in the forefoot, better cushion overall tho,way better lock down due to way less lace pressure!! To summarize the 38,better wearing experience. Even though it's heavier it's not bulky. It's a beautiful shoe to look at also,on the toe-down view. Might have to get a few pairs of these, unless the GT Hustle 2 is any good.
For the “Flange” I believe Nike uses the term “Outrigger” or maybe that’s an older term. Haha. I hate when the heel doesn’t have lateral support from the outsole. I totally would have bought the Giannis sigs the last couple years but it was SOO round. I just knew my ankles would be done. 😕😕
Bought them yesterday and returned them immediately, the cupsole at the heel is so short and flat (shorter than Lebron 21s) that gives you the feeling that the shoe is slipping. Sizing was good not as other Nikes but insecure feeling of the heel forced me to return them.
I’m picking my ‘Aqua’s up tomorrow. As soon as I put my foot in these in store I found where my foot has always meant to be. Selling every other pair I own and these will be it for me, just give me every colour and I’m a happy man. Bye Freak 5s and KD15s…. 😂
Don’t get the “forefoot” shank thing. Missing a real midfoot shank or torsion plate. Could you please explain how/why this thing makes sense? - what is it beneficial for? - and why would you want a hole in the rubber at the point where most pressure is applied under foot?…
Doc i know this is a bit late but can you review the Jordan 34's especially the low, it's a great shoe until now but i want to hear your thoughts about it.
I want a pair I didn't like the 36, the 37 was a little better, I am glad the double stack forefoot zoom gone cause that was my only problem with both shoes in my opinion
Great job foot dr zach.... i bet these will be almost as good for players as the puma all pro scoot henderson shoes.. more i wear thise the more i love them
so I wear 2 ankles brace with the Jordan 37 low ( mc david 195), a low version will exist with Jordan 38, or the high version may fit with this ankle brace
Thanks for a very interesting review, Dr. Zach! The setup looks interesting for trying out. Do you know if this colorway would be available in all men's sizes? 🤩
Zach appreciate the effort in the videos, what nike jordan shoes can you recommend for flat footer who needs the footbed very flat, any arch brings my flat foot pain and so i cant enjoy very many baskbetall shoes and since you notice more detail about them, which ones could i try next?? thanks so much
I like this design. I'm glad they moved away from that hollow arch thing last year. It might have been great performance-wise, and looked great the first time around, but it got old from a visual perspective. Regardless I LOVE this design. The way everything looks "stacked" in an organized way. The little piece on the midsole on the forefoot reminds me of the 14 (even though the shoe takes design cues from the 8 obviously...should have added the cross-straps. Cowards). Actual netting and not just mesh it pretty crazy. The midsole is a little clunky. Reminds me of a LeBron shoe.
My all time favorite hoop shoe now. Even over my Lebron 21's. Honestly though, anybody that plays in these on an outdoor court is crazy. These are indoor ONLY shoes with the translucent rubber. I just snagged a cheaper pair of Lebron Witness 7's for outdoor and they are great for outdoor courts. I'll NEVER hoop on an outdoor court with a pair of expensive high performance indoor basketball shoes lol.
Kinda looks like an upgraded Hyperdunk 2008. So no more eclipse plate for Jordans? For me it's cushioning is like normal full length zoom strobel shoes so it's more like a downgrade.
Great review, very helpful. Do you know what other colors they might come in. I normally wear vapormaxx’s , because I work long hours on my feet . I work in the film business, so I need a shoe that is easy to climb ladders 🪜go up stairs walk on different surfaces. I would love to wear Jordan’s , but I would need them to have these things . #1. Super comfortable #2. Durable within reason #3. Good traction #4. They have to look Kool # 5. And easy to clean So thank you for the info you post .
Would love a review of the new selkirk shoes, both models, that are available on selkirklabs, I need a good pickleball shoe that wont wear out in like 3 months!
From double stacks zoom cushions to just a zoom stroble only.. I just think this is sub par, unlike its previous premium predecessors.. But that’s just my opinion.. Is it just me? but I just think the SPECS is not premium.
Was already huped on getting the 38s, even more with this review... though I was kinda hoping it had a solid bouncy air unit in the forefoot. Thanks, Zach!
