The long-awaited air nation guide is here! This time, instead of just static images, there's actual footage of the planes that are being talked about. Sorry this took so long, I've been busy with a bunch of IRL stuff. Also, I'm doing some experimenting with embedded subtitles, let me know what you think. There's a couple of minor mistakes in them, my apologies for that. ── CORRECTIONS (read before leaving a comment) ── -The F-4E is a much better turnfighter if it has the Agile Eagle upgrade, forgot to mention that -With the Sky Guardians update America does have an 11.0 premium, namely the F-4S Phantom II -The Mig-19 can retain energy pretty well actually, the Mig-21 is the one that bleeds energy fast
bruh. f-22 and f-35 will not come in near future. look at abrams variants. they come into the game as they go out of service. Next in line of inplementation are: F-15A, early F-18 variants, Later F-14A agile falcon f-16's, F-15's C/D and E but they will not come before US declasifies files on them- and they will not do that before major US allies get rid of them. Please clarifiy that this video is for Ground players as that's clearly your focus.
another correction the banche is one of the most powerful fighters in the game at 7.3 it destroys almost everything with the added bonus of being one of the rare early jets with a low repair cost. and the av-8’s ammo count is the opposite of what you said it has one of the lowest ammo counts for jets in the entire game.
Lol its messed up in all lines acauly. Like Germen patrol boats and bombers. I mean almost all Germen patrol boats are 1.0s and 1.7s show me any thing that can take on a Gunboat other then the AA or Gun bardge. And no the KV dont count no more....
At 28:43 there's a bit of mistake. The MiG-21 bleeds all of its energy when turning that's correct but the MiG-19 has some of the best energy retention in the whole tier and handles well at low speeds. That being said, good video!
I was just searching the internet to understand what Nation suits me better and I was going crazy! I was like "yo why didn't this video show up before?" Then I realized it's been 15 mins ahahah
Can't say I agree with skipping the F8s. In my opinion by far the best 10.3 in the game. You are supersonic, best manourvreability at the tier (as long as you are sub 0.85 mach), great guns, countermeasures, and okay missiles. I would say its only downsides are the mediocre missiles and compression at higher speeds but it makes you use your guns more which I personally think is a more interesting playstyle. Great video overall and will certainly be useful for newer players.
Note on the US tree: due to how popular it is, on US servers at least, you have a far higher chance of ending up on a pretty incompetent team. Just be aware that your win/loss ratio will be kinda sad
Yeah trust me I hate ending a match being spawn camped due to being the only one with aircraft left.. Usually I get in a bomber and fly upside down trying to tell the enemies I'm alone and just wanna fly around. Don't work most are blood thirsty and don't wanna kill a.i and farm.
I think what turns some people off of the US tech tree is that they don't take the time to set themselves up properly, then get frustrated because they don't climb, go for the first plane they see, then get killed in a dogfight against more maneuverable planes. Granted you won't exactly be the highest plane in the match, but you need to sideclimb and gain altitude in order to perform well in those planes.
Thanks for the series, concerning both Ground and Air. It can serve both as a great aid to newcomers and a point of interest for more experienced players willing to change or expend their playstyle.
This video gives me motivation to go play all the aircraft i unlocked and do not just grind. I sometimes forget how diverse the trees are and forget the good memories with all the planes 👍
For the Soviet line, make sure to mention the devastating 23mms on the IL-2 (1942), I had a game where I got 8 kills, including three back to back f4u kills. If you know how to aim them, there’s really nothing that compares to the 23mms at that br. Also to keep in mind about that 8 kill game, it was 12 player teams and I also suck at air rb when I’m playing solo
Another thing to note at the lower tiers, the 7.62mm shkas can not be understated. 7200 combined rpm is nothing to scoff at when you’re going up against an i-16
Fact: the f4u can reach 800km/h in a dive and the elevators wont lock up (unless they changed it), so you dont have to worry too much about crashing into the ground
I like your warthunder videos. You have the perfect voice for tutorials and reviews. Not too intense that it's painful to listen to, but not to monotone that you bore me. Keep it up!
1st gen jets have better energy retention than the 2nd and 3rd gen jets but lack acceleration, however there is some exception. Some 2nd and 3rd gen jets like MIG-17 and F-5 are designed as dedicated air superiority fighter, even F105 and A4 Skyhawk can be used for dogfight when they've done their CAS duties. In my experience, to counter the 1st gen jets with most 2nd gen and 3rd gen jets is to use boom and zoom tactics, don't waste too much energy in turning fights, same rule can be applied to top tier when using Mirage 2000 against MIG-29, F-5E, F-14 and F-16.
4:24 I feel it should be mentioned that the D-5 Mustang is the most difficult of the Mustangs to play, since it’s engine is poor for its br. Basically, you don’t have the climb nor accel thst the other P-51’s got to cover for mistakes a bit, so you gotta be extremely careful when taking it out
P= Pursuit rather than CAS. The P-51 was a fairly decent dogfighter. You just have to remember to reduce throttle to turn tighter. The F-4 Phantom II has better acceleration with the Rolls Royce engine, fantastic maneuverability regardless of whether it has the Allison or Rolls Royce engine, the F-14 also has excellent maneuverability as does the A-4 Skyhawk
I absolutely Love the 109 and Strike Fighter Lines. The Bf 109s are my Favorite Planes after the 262s (in AB) and the 410s have worked very Well for me aswell. I think it was RB when a P-51 approached me from behind, my Secondaries Made quick Work of them
For Arcade: Russia and Japan. Spitfires have wing mounted guns and weak wings. US are not the best for arcade furballs but made for boom and zoom. The best overall low tier arcade plane is probably the japanese Ki-44 at 2.7 br. Get the premium if you can (not the one with the 40mm canon). Yaks and the La series are also very good. Note learning to aim -> take the yak. bit of a curve but once you get it all trees will be cookie. Learning to furball: Ki 44 or yak or the messer. learning to fly defensive : zero. Boom and zoom : messerschmidt, p 51, fw 190, corsair. ( this tactic wont get you high kill rates in Arcade) Another tip for arcade : learn to touch and go on high speeds. Useful for capping airfields. Another tip : make your line up as big as possible and buy back ups with war bonds. do not land and repair but rather eject and respawn
Great video! I would like to suggest you try out the Do217 E at 4.7. As it gets 4 TONS of bombs (4x1000kg) and is fairly fast and manoeuvrable. Plus it has some decent turrets aswell as a nose mounted 20mm in case you find the odd enemy Bomber!
Man I’ve been playing American air tech tree for a good 2-3 years (off and on) and I’m still in tier two I think I just unlocked the b-25 like a month ago
Btw, the p51h although being a p51 turns well enough to dogfight a lot of enemies (if you know what you’re doing). You can actually do a lot more with a lot of these planes if you learn about how to fly them (and planes in general) -like the “later” p47s (past the d25 model) are actually good at energy fighting (more so boom n zooming actually), for example (I like to use it more for that than the p51d30) And another example, the AM-1 (attacker) turns very well, though it doesn’t maintain energy the best, it does stall at a low speed thanks to its flaps. And it’s cannons are pretty good. Basically, learning and gaining experience will get you further in the game than simply going strictly by the “on paper” info💯😁👍. Good luck, and have fun!
another example being the Canberra B57B (and a, but the A had no guns lol) - These Jet Bombers, although being jets, can out turn a lot of those it faces, though it too bleeds speed a little *too* handily.
Planning to finally play this game after the mobile version just got out recently but oh boy I think I have a lot of things to learn and memorize And this video helps me a lot thanks man
Awesome 😎 I’ve played American 3 years it’s really easy learning it especially with some low tier planes with a 50cal and I’ve played most a b17 bombers I’ve survived getting my tail rudder half of a tail flap and other stuff and landed
They're good if flown correctly, too many times I see players fly too low only to have German, Soviet and Japanese planes whip 'em in dogfights and because they're low they don't have the altitude to get away and they don't have the maneuverability to turn fight. Positioning (and good aim) is key to success in those planes. The fight only becomes tougher the longer it drags out.
as he doesnt go over it for teir one of America. go and grind out the p36A as it is one of the fastest planes at that BR. then from there get the P36C and if you really like those planes then get the P36G. dont try to go up a rank without starting the other lines because the more lines you have the more options you have.
Love ya content! Was looking around to see if I could find info about what nation to play to start my air grind and then discovered you posted this video like 30 minutes ago xD
F8U is pretty good idk why you say it’s bad and to skip. It’s arguably one of the better jets in its tier and it’s really fun if you play it right. Also don’t know why shade was thrown to the Av-8s turn rate. If you use the thrust vectoring it actually turns into something that can outrun nearly everything at the br.
I mostly agree with your take on the Me 262's, tho I'd say the Heimatschützer II is the exception, as the poor acceleration can be offset by the rocket boosters. And with some clever use, the 2 minutes of burn time can last you quite a while and give you that extra thrust when you need it.
Bro, the P39N is by far the best plane at tier 2 USA, you shouldve mentioned that. Not only that but p63s are not flat upgrades over 39N. They lose a fuckton of low speed thrust, turn, MER and get way worse flaps, in exchange for better climb and in A10/C5s case, top speed. The P-51s being unable to dogfight is also just a myth. Things like 51C and D30 can already beat alot of the planes they face in a duel. And the we have 51H, which is literally capable of beating almost every prop of the br in a duel, whilst also being faster and climbing better. Saying that it shouldnt turnfight bc "its still a P-51" is wrong and stupid. Regarding late 109s, you are describing them as more passive strict bnz planes, when in reality theyre planes which benefit hugely from being played very agressively, The climb means you have great early game potential + theyre also really snappy and responsive planes with great low speed control (yes you also got that wrong) which makes them good for pushing 1v1s and head ons with other planes early game. Also none of them are supposed to be played around "keeping speed". k4 is probably the fastest 109 for the br and its speed/LER is still average at best in comparison to what it faces. And finally, you grouped both ta-152s in the same description when theyre both completely different flight models. 152C is just a shitbrick overall, its not fast at relevant altitudes for the br, it doesnt have "decent turn radius", ifact its one of the worst turning props in the game. Only thing it has is guns and snappy fm which makes head on really easy. Ta-152H is a much more maneverable plane, with some of the best flaps in props which allow it to beat almost every other prop in a dogfight. Perf itself is not good for 6.0, apart from the cracked MER, but its so braindead to play that almost everyone can do well in it. Pls stop talking out of your ass, more misinformation of this kind is not something new players need
a bit late but finally i need this series, because i have zero knowledge of aircraft which is the best aircraft to grind, i looking for it for all the tech tree
I completely disagree with the P51 not being a good dogfighter, the P51H has great energy retention and a good turnrate, It's really fast so you can energy fight as well as go verticle and they can't really do anything about it. I'd say that the D varients aren't as powerful though.
4:41 I would concur! The F8F (Bearcat) has some of the best agility for any super prop I've flown, it can even hold it's own against dogfights with Spitfires and can sometimes tango with some Japanese planes like the ki-84 or A7. The F8F-1 only has 4 .50s which yes aren't even good but foldered with the plane is the F8F-1B, replacing the .50s with that I personally think are some of the best 20mm cannons in the game
It's also the best cas planes for a 6.7 line up you get 3x 1000lbs and if know how to fly it u can pretty much take out all the enemy Cas. Hell most of the time If there are a lot of enemies up I just drop the bombs and go to work
What are you talking about? The F84 is very good. I dont know how well it performs now, but two updates ago and with its air spawn, it was pretty op. It has a good top speed and good weapons at its tier
i've just got the f84b and i must say it's a beast just go straight and keep your speed, the m3 machineguns will do the rest as they have great fire rate and good precision
I'll be honest. It's taken me about 3 years to understand the air game. Now I guarantee 1 kill and assist per fighter/strike aircraft. Not to mention the many soft ground targets. Still don't break even on silver lions though.😂
German Narrator is so good better than the American one he makes it sound smart and gives tips props to him lol (American one good to) love the channel
I'd flip the F84 and F86. The F84 gets better matchmaking since there's way more people playing at 7.0 or under so your downsides don't matter as much. The Sabre gets constant uptiers and often has to face missile jets
Hmmm, I haven’t spent any money on this game (and dont intend to) so I used to play 3 armies (ground and air), Germany, Japan, and USSR, and have them all almost to tier IV, but have recently picked up the US too and have been having a lot of fun.
I STRONGLY disagree with saying America is "beginner friendly". Yes, the guns are easy to use, but the problem is that, generally speaking, they don't turn well. What's a noob's first instinct in a plane? To dogfight. Do that in most American fighters, and you will die very quickly. Patience and good game sense are essential to using American planes efficiently.
