air ride suspension, compressor not coming on, sagging rear suspension. Some diagnosis. How to replace the air ride compressor. this was for a 2013 Lincoln Navigator not sure what other years this would be the same process for. disclosure... I'm not a mechanic , this worked successfully for me but only try if you are comfortable in your abilities. total time was about 30 mins.

Seen your video and my husband replaced the air suspension compressor as you did. Turned the engine on and the rear leveled up. But the light came back again a few hours later after we drove it, at times it will go away by itself and at some point it kept beeping. Then stopped again. Not sure if it takes a day or so for the loght thing to stabalize or could there be something else?

Does this make a buzzing noise I have a buzzing humming noise that comes on when I start the car and intermittent between drives
@Kevtheguitarguy

It could be described as a buzzing sound. Pop your hood before you start it, make sure you close doors once startd and check if your sound seems to be coming from behind passenger headlight

Those are sensors. they are somewhat mechanical to tell compressor to turn on. they are located in the rear of the vehicle along the cross beam. you'll have to crawl underneath vehicle to access

@@Kevtheguitarguy I'm still not sure how to test them. If they have "play" in them...I'm not sure what that means.
@Kevtheguitarguy
@Kevtheguitarguy 2 года назад
@@michaelbray7472 probably not the best terminology to use. when I say "play" What I mean is when you disconnect the clip the arm and sensor should swing freely as opposed to being frozen

I'm fighting to get the electronics back plugged together. Any suggestions?
@Kevtheguitarguy
@Kevtheguitarguy 2 месяца назад
Start with matching up with old one to make sure they are the same. Besides that make sure you're not trying to plug them in upside down
@kbro7484
@kbro7484 2 месяца назад
@@Kevtheguitarguy You can't put the two plugs upside down. It will only plug in one way. I can get it to in 90% of the way and then it stops. I'm wondering if the gasket that seals the plug is stopping me. I'll try some lithium today and see if that helps. If not I guess, I'll bring it to my mechanic. Thanks

Hi, I replaced the compressor but now my issue is: the rear end lowers insanely low when the vehicle is turned off. When I turn it on it returns to normal height after 3-4 minutes. How do I get the car to stay at the normal height even when it's turned off? It looks like a low rider sitting in the parking lot and I can't start driving for several minutes after I start the car while it waits to level itself. Thanks!
@Kevtheguitarguy

I am going to guess you have a leak in either a line or an airbag. get some soapy water in a spray bottle. have the rear end high, turn off vehicle, go under and start spraying and look for bubbles to identify leak. if it's big enough you may even be able to hear hiss. also if you have leak you would notice your compressor coming on more often than it should, this may be why it burnt out in the first place. good luck
@meghanmatson8249
@meghanmatson8249 3 года назад
@@Kevtheguitarguy thanks I will check. To me, a leak would mean constant lowering but it only lowers when I turn the car off like it's on some kind of setting to lower when the engine is off.
@Kevtheguitarguy
@Kevtheguitarguy 3 года назад
When car is on compressorvruns to keep it from lowering. When car is off compressor is also off so there is nothing refilling it when car is off.

Thanks for the video. But where is the relay on this video for the air compressor suspension system? Ur video matches a 2012 Ford expedition almost exactly
@Kevtheguitarguy
@Kevtheguitarguy 3 года назад
look at your owners manual it should list what fuses/ relay are and where. In my case the inside of the lid to the relay box had each one numbered so I could cross reference. I believe it was number 10 on mine

@@Kevtheguitarguy yeah but there was a wrong part for the vehicle I was working on. Couldn't find it anywhere. Physically on the car, owners manual, Google, or RU-vid. I had to call Ford and ask if they even have that part for.the vehicle I was working on and they said they didn't. Sometimes after market car parts stores sell u the wrong items. Especially if u don't know the exact motor and type of vehicle u are working on. Thanks anyway for the info and video. Have a good one.
@Kevtheguitarguy
@Kevtheguitarguy 3 года назад
@@xhoustonkingx6212 I double checked my manual and it is relay #10 It is in the fuse box on the drivers side of just under the hood. If they are not numbered it is the square relay in the upper right hand corner if you are standing in front of vehicle looking at it. It is a switch that either works or doesn't . you can either test it or listen as you turn suspension system on it should "click". It is pretty rare that they go . I think I referenced when a bulb goes out it is usually the bulb not the light switch. good luck with it

@@Kevtheguitarguy yes but the one we had was called a relay for.the air suspension compressor. However it wasn't for the vehicle we were working on. They gave us the wrong part.

I have a question for you. I have a 2012 Lincoln Navigator l that work sometimes and it goes down. But it will air itself back up and will sit and air itself back up. What I need to check for and the exact location to check parts?
@Kevtheguitarguy
@Kevtheguitarguy 2 года назад
If compressor is working but coming on too often you likely have a leak. on the bottom of compressor is a black hose , this is where the air starts. spray with some soapy water and see if it bubbles at the connection, then spray all along lines looking for leak. eventually the lines will make to air bags where shock absorbers are, spray all around there to see if you can find leak

air suspension air compressor
@Kevtheguitarguy
@Kevtheguitarguy 2 года назад
you should be able to have them "bench test " the compressor. this means they give it the required power to turn it on outside of the vehicle. if it turns on it's good if not it's bad.

Hi my rear end was down so i replaced my compressor and level sensors and still no adjustment for rear springs. Relays seem fine but I'm lost at this point. No check air suspension message either. Any help is appreciated
@Kevtheguitarguy
@Kevtheguitarguy 3 года назад
open hood , when you turn on car and turn on air suspension system you should hear compressor turn on. If it's not there's an issue b4 compressor. if compressor turns on then it's after compressor (maybe air bags or a bad line not delivering air to bags)

@@Kevtheguitarguy compressor does not turn on, and with a bypass in the relay (fuse 10) it does, but that's not a permanent solution. I still buy a new relay regardless, and thanks for the tip

My activate/deactivate isn't a switch, it is a page on monitor for onboard computer. I had another navigator that had a turn off switch on the passenger side below the glove compartment behind a panel. If this is what you are looking for I would search junk yards/ salvage yards for your year.
