great video! I know how crucial the cleaning really is... before my 2nd cleaning, I did some target shooting.. and boy the pelles wobbled like craaazy and some missed the 1 inch target by severla inches... after the cleaning.. it was shooting well within the 1 inch marker!

WD40 is petroleum based, and so is not recommended for use on rubber O rings. Instead the advice is to use a silicone lubricant.
@FreeManShooting
@FreeManShooting 7 месяцев назад
I am using WD 40 more than a decade. Never have a problem with o-rings. After cleaning the barrel I am adding just little silicone oil. Well all the other o-rings are only with silicone oil. Just the barrel is touching the WD 40, but never had a problem.

For new shooters, If you do insist in cleaning your barrel with WD40 I would turn it upside down to stop the oil getting down the transfer port which is at the bottom of the barrel, WD 40 getting down this will dry out the seals. Washing your tin of pellets in warm water and a few drops of washing liquid before use will help, after this dry them by your partners hair dryer or air dry them and then use a good propitiatory pellet lube. This will save you money to have someone strip the gun and change the seals after a year. Only clean your gun when the pellets group starts to expand.

hi,wd40 has something in it that dissagrees with seals on a pcp,i only use crosman pelloil anywhere near a seal,wd40 ok for cleaning your gun via a cloth regards IAN

The stock is finished raw copy of WH100 from me. I made it for my hand. I am keeping the original stock safe :-) Yes - there is regulator. It is custom made and is providing 30-35 consistent shots. This videos are taking much time, but I will try one day to show my shooting system. Till then - a lot of videos are waiting in my mac to be edited and upload here.

I think that wearing gloves may be a good suggestion. WD40 contains DMSO - an excellent solvent that vets use in treating joint arthritis in dogs and horses because it penetrates skin so well - the problem here is that you have the lead and the DMSO in contact with your skin. I'm not saying that the lead is entering you but it seems like it could. Great videos!

I would recommend using a synthetic gun oil. It's not petroleum based , it actually keeps all the parts clean, Just as synthetic oil in a car will clean out all the build up the petroleum oil creates, and it cleans as it lubricates, and being non-petroleum based it will not hurt any seals or rings, and synthetic oil will leave a coating of lubrication that will not evaporate like other oils.

Unlike many, I think there is no danger of wd40 on the o-rings! Most manufacturers use NBR type O-rings with excellent resistance to hydrocarbons! Second, the wd40 advertises that it is plastic and rubber compatible. Wd40 cleans very well but I have found better. The interflon lube tf or the interflon fine super. Cleans, lubricates, protects, anti-corrosion, oxidation, oil which becomes dry. I find that it cleans a little better than wd40, but above all it lubricates better!
@FreeManShooting
@FreeManShooting 11 лет назад
So far the O-rings are in great shape. My o-rings are still the original. Might be depend of the o-rings. Seals and o-rings I am lubing with silicon oil. Regards.

Many say fishing line can damage whatever it rubs against. The Crown Saver by Mac1 is supposed to be very safe.

You do not need to clean an airgun rifle barrel. The pellets are coated with graphite to keep them from corroding. The black stuff is graphite and actually protects the barrel. As soon as you shoot another pellet it will be coated with graphite again. No manufacturer suggest barrel cleaning as far as I know. If you want to clean it as soon as you get it new to get any possible machining artifacts out then OK, but after that there is no need.

this is great.specifically the wd 40. but I clean my air rifle with one litre petrol, what I do is disassemble the whole air rifle including barrel, piston chamber, trigger block, spring, piston and all rinse it in petrol to remove oil and dust.then allow petrol to evaporate then give it a engine oil bath to all the above said parts, reassemble the whole gun and keep it aside for a whole 24 hrs so that extra oil will let out then finally I use machine oil to clean the barrel with ear bud (here now I will use your method :) with WD-40). BY THE WAY I CLEAN MY AIR RIFLE THIS WAY AFTER 500 SHOTS BUT BASIC CLEANING I DO AFTER 250 SHOTS. If you agree then I will be happy if u make a video of it as I am not good instructor like you specially making a video like this :-D .
@FreeManShooting
@FreeManShooting 12 лет назад
Thanks. Yes it is external regulator.
@FreeManShooting
@FreeManShooting 12 лет назад
Oiling break barrel air rifle cause dieseling. Springers have to compress the air first and that heats up the air, causing it to diesel if there is oil or grease present in the compression chamber. This is very bad for your air gun system. Not so with the PCP, but still reflect the accuracy. There will be a difference between your first shots and next ones. This will mislead you all the ballistic. WD 40 is slightly oiling and dries sealing the inside barrel. If you are oiling - dry it afterword

WD-40 is mostly mineral spirits and will damage most o-rings. Silicone is a standard for use with o-rings.

I have a question I hope someone could help me with. I watched a video demo from a manufacturer who makes a top of the line pellet rifle. They say when cleaning a pellet rifle always clean by going from the breech end of the barrel to the muzzle end of the barrel. I noticed It's the same way you clean your rifle by pulling the cleaning patches from the breech to the muzzle. Is this to protect something on the gun against possible long term damage? I like that you mentioned how long you have used WD-40, I'm sure if it was going to cause damage to your rifle it would have happened a long time ago, But Thank You for sharing your experience I really appreciate that!!
@FreeManShooting
@FreeManShooting 8 лет назад
+Craig Carper Yes, this is the appropriate way - to follow the way of the pellet. Also some barrels are choked, so the patches should got through the choke last. And finally in this way of cleaning it is more easy to pull the patch. Best regards.

Great video as always Sir. Just bought a BSA R10 MK2 few weeks ago and have been running the barrel in and fired about 1000 pellets through it and suddenly realized I needed to clean the barrel out so did a google search which lead me to your great tutorial. So will give the barrel a clean when I get some WD40, or would GT85 still work as I use that on my locks?

WD-40 is a very big no no! I'm sorry but using wd or other oils not specified for bores/barrels it will foul your barrel its best just to use a dry patch with nothing on it as most people do not clean there barrels anyway! ONLY CLEAN YOUR BARREL IF YOU ACCURACY GETS WORSE ON PELLETS YOU KNOW WORK WELL, a lot of champion target shooters never clean there barrel. However cleaning your barrel once a year or after a really dirty tin of pellets won't hurt just use dry patches
@4l3xboy4l3x
@4l3xboy4l3x 10 лет назад
Also to keep your barrel clean simply clean your pellets very carefully to not damage them and lube your pellets with Napier power pellet lube remember to be very delicate so you don't deform any pellets

WD40 will degrade the rubber seals in your gun, use a silicone based lube instead like napier power airgun spray. I have actually done an experiment myself on its effect on rubber. Get a condom and spray it with WD40 and another with a silicone spray, leave them for 10 minutes and then try stretching the condoms. The one sprayed with WD40 will dissintegrate very easily and the one with silicone spray will be ok. The same will happen to your rubber o rings. Oil based lubes are no good.
