The air disc is the winner, I'm going to get one for my pond this winter, gave up on looking for goldfish and just put some red breasted sunfish in there

We do love the discs we always have very few of those elongated types of stones work very well we’ve never really found most of the debt over the years. We really like the hiker bubbler, though over the disk the fact that you can adjust it like the way that you can it’s really cool. We put one in our green liner tank quite a few months ago and it’s still exactly the way we set it

Thanks for your great comment guys for me those seem to break down but then again I use them in more extreme conditions, especially being the pond and our water here so thick and calcium that I'm sure that plays a role in them breaking down

Interesting look at various types of air stones although you left out my go to for use in my koi ponds, the aluminium oxide type. Although a bit on the pricey side they are easy to clean, last a very long time, are available with fittings ranging from 3/16" (suitable for aquariums) to 1/2" (for larger applications like koi ponds) allowing for the flexibility to use larger size tubing to get the best airflow possible. Certainly worth a try if you haven't done so already. 👍🏻

Yeah I'll look into that. Right now I'm just using standard air tubing from ordinary air pumps. I should actually use a bigger air pump for the entire room but I just can't hide all the cords and the tubing

Thanks my friend. Yeah I really like these discs. I certainly help keep the ponds open in the winter and I think I'll be using a couple and some of my larger tanks whenever I have a higher population density

Nice to see a product reviewed after a year. That was a great comparison, although I would like to have seen the disc compared to the old school treasure chest where the bubbles open the lid.

I remember your first presentation of the Hygger air disc! I must say that, like you, we come from the old guard of aquarists and from the classic porous stones which then evolved into various shapes and sizes but which have all left the memory that limestone or calcium decreased the diffusion of air and obstructed them. Surely the new technology and materials have made great strides. Thanks Chris!

I do like airstone disks, I have a couple but not the make you have Chris, in my Tosia tank I have started using airstone domes, I have a couple of 200mm diameter ones, and now have two more in my main pond since loosing my spindrift bottom drain airator, best wishes, Tony😀
