I began with an Air Force Condor SS which is a tack driving machine. I sprung for all three calibers offered but, because I hunt with it, I settled on the .25 barrel. My good counsel advised me to do as you said, trying several different makes of pellets. For me the best performance came from the same ones you used, JSB Exact King 25.39gr. Never having been around these type of “pellet guns” I had no idea of their capabilities and knew of no one that had one. So my research consisted of watching many of the videos on YT and asking lots of questions on the various forums (thanks to all that offered advice and support). I have a steel burn barrel out my back door. It measures 105 yards away. Not only will the Condor do 3 inch groups, but using the barrel as my target hanger, it punches thru the near side and dents the far side……of a steel barrel. Later I found a Keith Warren video of him hunting hogs with an Avenger……I was hooked. The Condor is great….but its single shot action was a limiting factor. Watching Keith quietly put down 3 small hogs in rapid succession and still have ammo left was all I needed to see. After a week of videos and forum conversations, I ordered the Avenger. I got it in .25 with the plastic stock which I find quite serviceable….. I did find the forend to be a bit slick, but a couple of strips of skateboard tape affixed lengthwise corrected that deficiency. Lucky for me, the Avenger liked the same JSB Exact King 25.39 pellets as the Condor. The addition of a 3-9 Hawke scope and DonnyL “KOI” moderator finished it off. And, while not as powerful as the Condor, it will put a decent dent in that same steel barrel at 105 yards. I recommend it to anyone interested in getting into this sport. One more thing…..I was able to locate a couple of good (certified) decently priced 3000 psi scuba tanks to charge the Condor to its maximum capacity. This worked well and allowed me to take the gun afield along with an available air supply. When I got the Avenger, with its 4500 psi capacity, those tanks weren’t able to fully charge the gun. I gave some thought to buying a 4500psi scuba tank. But the used market in this area is pretty much nonexistent and new is more than I was willing to spend just to still need to visit the dive shop for refills. Back to YT and bothering people on the forums…….ultimately I bought an Omega Super Charger (110 volt) which came highly recommended. With its maximum capability of 400 bar (5800 psi) it fills everything, including the two scuba tanks. If I ever do find a suitable 4500psi tank this will fill that also. 🫡
I think one is better off getting the jts aircuda or aircuda max. They are built solid, even the mags are metal. You cant beat the price and it performs like a champ. You wont regret it thats for sure. Unless you are looking for a lot more power.
I got the Woodstock .22 avenger. Added a Bushell ENGAGE scope 2-10x. Freaking amazing gun. I don’t have a single complaint. Accurate a hell and just feels quality.
I 've learned enough to know I haven't learned enough. Is the Bushnell Engage scope rated for springer pellet guns? I bought a 3rd party pellet gun scope 2nd focal plane and it's not what I need. I am considering getting an Avenger, but I want to try putting a good 1st focal plane scope on my Gamo Maxim before getting a PCP. I want to be sure the scope I get will handle the double direction recoil battering of a springer air rifle. Thank you for your help.
@@southernexposure123 I’m not sure if it’s rated for springer pellet guns. But I can tell you I watched a review from well known pellet gun RU-vidr who uses the engage but then again he’s shooting pcp guns. Sorry.
With this tune, I get about 32 shots (4 magazines) per fill. I could shoot more, but at that point, the pressure in the tube will drop below the set pressure of the regulator, so I would lose the consistency.
Man I love your reviews. Question for ya, I’m new to air rifles, if you had to chose .25’s for a new shooter would you pick the avenger or Umarex origin?
I would pick the Avenger. I’ve only had one experience with the Origin and it was actually pretty bad. It wouldn’t hold pressure and both of its magazines had bad springs. It was probably just a fluke, but it shook my confidence in that model. Thanks for watching!
Nothing bad with the plastic stock. Lot lighter for walking with it. Not flimsy . dropped mine 4ft off my porch and no problem. Wouldn't want to drop my Air Force Texan that far...
Question? What is the lowest power that you can adjust down the rifle to? I live in Sweden and we have a power limit of 10 joules, measured four meters from the mouth of the barrel. Is this possible to achieve?
I also found JSB Hades are super deadly and very accurate on target or game. By the way Buck Rail makes the adapter and moderator and they cost under 40$ for both together as a package deal with free shipping inside the con-USA plus all made in Texas and they work great! Beats 200$ that's for sure.
What could be the reason for this. When i zero in my av avenger for 15y and shoot it, its accurate. But a day later without carrrying it around and not even moving it, i shoot and then the shot is a few inches left and too low? And i have to zero it again! All srews are tight and i did locktite them. No moving of the scope because of loose screws.
@@r.b.6619 Have you added a moderator adapter like the one I showed in the video? Without that, Avengers have been known to have shifts in their point of impact.
Friend of mine getting me into small medium game shooting with pcp rifles definitely want to get an avenger wood stock as my first rifle but need to dig for more information first your videos have been a great source!
It's not plastic. Its what the military uses in much of there equipment. I love mine wouldn't change a thing I got 22,25, bull pup. 177,22,25, in long size. 40 yards hole in hole. 65 yards Nicole size or better all day. Most shots are ever over that far, rabbit squirrel, Ect. Js..
I bought the Avenger in .25 with plastic stock and Arken scope. My shots seem to hit everywhere on the target. About 8 inches at 30 yards. What do you think i should check first?
If you or anyone you know have a 3d printer you should print and install a barrel band. Locks the barrel shroud and tank together and completely eliminated my flyers.
It doesn’t come with one, but it has a built-in foster fitting, so it’s compatible with virtually any fill equipment. Most of the time, I use a portable compressor.
I would say this one. The Urban can almost always be found on Amazon for less than $300 and it’s an amazing rifle for that price. At $400 though, I would choose the Avenger.
I get the tank filled at Utah Airguns, but a lot of paintball and scuba shops can do it to, as long as they have a compressor that can fill to 300 bar.
Shouldve waited til i watched the whole video haha, ya answered my question! Love the setup! I have the tanto on mine also and its the perfect moderator for the avenger!
