updated, but my patterns vanish... I program, press stop/start, go to another pattern press play... go back to pattern I just programmed... and it's gone, some how I don't know why but doing a copy paste did something and now I cannot make patterns without fear of them being mucked up or lost... somethings gotta be wrong with this update,
yup, cannot copy & paste patterns anymore... I press stop, hold down pattern select press the pattern i want to copy then the button to the....oh come on, been using this for months and now this, didn't you guys test this out? I've done something to it and I thought it was odd... thought I was dreaming, but its the damn machine.. it's hooked up to a TB-3 only which has been updated also, I've turned the tr-8 on and off, same problem... what now?
my patterns are now locked to what they were before the update, if i make new, they are not saved... simply programming a pattern then pressing the buttons its stored on erases the pattern to a previous state or what the pattern was before the update.
Does the update give you the new sounds ? In other words the original just has 808 and 909 but the update gives you 707 and others? I heard that somewhere but want to confirm
I’m from Goa - India, I’m a Dj and producer in profession. I love jamming n playing live on the Tr8, since yesterday Unfortunately My Roland Tr8 isn’t functioning as normal, The thing is when I try to sequence a beat I am unable to sequence on 4, 8, 12 and 16 for all drum sounds, this never happened before. It’s really frustrating. Help
How do you know what version is on machine? Just bought this thing. If it does not midi sync with the Roland Loop stations its going back. The Roland 770 Drum machine did not which is kind of weird. Thanks.
I just updated the firmware to version 1.1 (verified by holding down 14 & 16 when powering on and pressing Start) However, the scatter function still plays continuously rather than disabling at the beginning of the next cycle. Whats up? Am I missing something?
What up people?! New TR-8 owner here. Looking for this 1.10 on the Roland site, only 1.5.1. In a nutshell, will 1.5.1 do all of what's in this video?? If so, I got my answer. Here's a little more about where I'm at. I downloaded & installed 1.5.1 (although TR-8 show 150 and not 151 on the LCD). Anywho... Still no effects or Scatter into Live 9. I am routing/receiving audio correctly and can multi track the TR-8 into Live, sweet, but still no effects :/ I understand scatter only works when you hit play, so good there (no scatter tho). I'm running Mac 10.9.5, Ableton Live 9. Scouring the internet/considering selling this thing till I hear from you. Thanks in advance. P.S. Hey Roland, why is this so hard??? Paid a lot of money for this thing...
with this update, when i use the scatter (update 6) does it always return to 'normal' on the first beat or is this new function only 'working' when i hold the 'depth' button and turn the 'on' button on (like in the video, or did i see that wrong??)? thank you for the answer... by the way: is there an alternative 'using guide' to this machine? because the one delivered with the machine isn't helpful at all, only explains basic stuff .. thanks again =)
@ 5:52 I'm in Logic and i cant see the scatter MIDI information that I played in the Piano Roll section, hoe do i access it? I cant see the purple lines that here in the video. I would like to know how to include scatter feature while recording which at the moment it doesn't seem to do
I'm having some problems with my unit if anyone can shed a little light on this , when using it via MIDI with just a MIDI in connected from my MOTU 128 the tempo that is being sent from Logic Pro X is being doubled by the time it gets to my TR8 like some sort of MIDI loop is being created it happens even when only the TR 8 is connected as well ? anybody got a clue as to what I'm missing ? .
Could it be that you have the scale set to double time or half time or something? The lit up line should be the third one down to have it one to one. I had trouble syncing my tb3 till I noticed that.
+Doc J thank you for the reply , the issue was a driver thing , it was either Motu or Logic , no one is owning up but somewhere between Motu releasing the driver set for OSX Mavericks and the Later release of Logic 10.2 , there was a serious clock issue, very disapointing , having to sell the Motu.
yeah man thats what i am doing cos i havent got any midi cables yet, i reckon its miles more fun and youre in control of the mixing, i might not even bother with midi now tbh
tried it both ways with lead and without its easier with as my tb3 and tr8 are about 6 foot away from each other short of space so I bought a 4 metre midi cable to make it easy quite easy to mix without cable though
after I hit pattern 2 the tr-rec and pen select are flashing and the pattern 16 is flashing red. It's been doing this for like 10 minutes. what's going on?
Yeah, TR8 sounds awesome and is very good for live-gigs, but in the studio it's just a toy. The actual DAW integration for PC users for streaming audio via USB is unbelievably poor! Better said: absolutely useless! A marketing joke. I can't understand why such a great company like Roland doesn't think the concept of digital hardware and DAW-integration to the end. For Aira I would absolutley love to see something like Elektrons Overbride to stream audio into my DAW. But there were no firmware updates since nearly a year. Is Aira dead for Roland? Please make it possible to change TR8's note output so it's at least a nice midi-controller and sequencer for digital drum machines.
They just need to make a software version of this that can play in your DAW and stop playing games. And why on earth would you make a drum machine that does not have real time record in today's time? That makes no sense whatsoever! I love Roland and their products, but they do some of the dumbest things! This machine is way too complicated with too much tinkering for today's time, when today's trend is about making things more intuitive with a smoother workflow! The fact that it has no real time recording on the machine itself was the deal breaker for me as to why i didn't buy it! It has great sounds but is useless to me for my kind of workflow.
