Uber will be looking for cars for Uber drivers + Uber eats (older cars). Airbnb is going to be in the combined rentals (house+car). Turo, I think will move into more exclusive high-end rentals. I hope there is space for all 3
Brian Chesky is a smart man, as an airbnb user I always ask myself how did he let it get to this point and is this Turo like idea going to work or hes simply lost it.
I don't think it will hit hosts first. There will be a period of time when platforms are competing for hosts and the platforms will have to take the losses. But eventually it will equalize, guests will pay less, and both hosts and platforms will make less. The other puzzle piece is that hosting in general may become more popular as it is more well known. A lot of people don't know about Turo, but everyone knows about Airbnb.
