When all four helis took off one after another instead of a free for all scramble, you just knew they were going to win. Excellent Command chatter keeping everyone informed and coordinated. One of the best Squad battles I have seen in a while.
IRL they were completely destroyed but yeah, in game they did well. lol They have Sprut like tank which I really like but IRL it's too think and way too easy to disable. Big carton box basically. BMD 4 is cool as well.

@@levi_exiled8579 The VDV did well in Hostomel, the regular Russian forces who were supposed to reinforce them the same day messed up (got caught in a few towns and were delayed so long the VDV had to hold out for multiple days without support).
@@Crazy-pl1lo Yeah every game i have played on this layer has been a complete landslide victory for the defenders. AA vehicles will trash helis and light vehicles can simply sit around the few open areas where the helis can land to shoot them down if they make it past the AA vehicles. A jeep with a 50.cal can easily kill a J hooking heli as it tries to land. I do think it is an interesting layer tho. It adds some spice to the map.
the parameters of the misson sound like a promising scenaro for pretty much all the nations. granted its perfect for the VDV (as helicopter assaults is their bread and butter combat operation) but the success of or popularity of this scenario could pave the way for US airborne or Rangers, PLAAF airborne corp (and introducing the Z-9 as a alternate Chinese Helo and another Type 07 camo pattern), Parachute regiment and other airborne units
imagine a match started only with 2 chinooks, but each one of them have 6k payloads, jumping position to positions setting multiple habs. or somewhere with waters but all planmc have are 8 zsd-armoured-logi-thingy and goes head to head with early light vehicles while doing hot insertions. XD
But all those airborne forces are really small, VDV is an entire branch of the russian military. We need more diversity of factions and how they play, not more similar factions
@@albquehu3ur177 the PLAAF Airborne is estimated at 40K strong and is heavily influenced by the Russian VDV in its expected operational capacity. this includes the ZBD series vehicles which is the Chinese equivalent of the Russian BMD series vehicle chassis. but I have to agree the introduction of new factions would be preferable over expanding current ones
It’s funny that he made a video criticizing having real conflict in video games, only to later make this. Update: There are now pro Russian users in the comments, one of them making a post that just says glory to russia, so Moi is definitely going to find this video’s comments section full of stuff.
@@RustyBearThe issue is that since they are just generic militia and not an ukranian military faction, they don’t get access to modern western or Ukrainian arms. It would be great to see an Ukrainian faction for squad.
Always love an Arty barrage on the point and waiting for it to finish then someone besides you screams "Were in business boys! Push!" and you guys see a bunch of blue berries full sprinting towards the point.
The squad or group of Irregular Militia at 5:56 did a hell of a job attacking and flanking that Russian HAB. Unfortunately it wasn't enough, but still a great effort!
Dude the surgical wipe of the town after the artillery without a single casualty, and then the insane grenades in the house, AND THEN TWO HELIS DO A BARREL ROLL IN SYNC OVER SAID TOWN THE DISRESPECT, these guys are just down STYLIN on the militia
Loved this layer. The heli invasion start is pretty epic. I do wish there was a way you could switch comms to the other team just to hear whats going on with them haha.
If i was one of the folks working on the VDV faction and/or this layer, i'd be SUPER happy watching this video. What an absolute textbook insertion and push - its like someone told the SLs before the round started to play to the faction's strengths and they did that perfectly. Sooooo many fun/epic moments throughout this too - glad i watched this one!! :D
Should coalition factions in squad receive close air support vehicles, like the usmc receiving the ah-1z viper, the Pla getting the z-19, the vdv receiving the mi-24 or a variant of it? It would make squad more interesting.
@@tgst1181Infantry Overhaul makes me think IR capabilities isn’t a stretch for vehicles. Shilka’s would be a great counter for attack helicopters. M163 VADs for US would be cool too.
@@tgst1181 Russians could receive Tunguskas, or pantsirs anti air vehicles, squad could implement stingers and strelas, mobile light anti weapons. Americans could receive pivads or adats anti tanks. Chinese could also have anti air assets implemented too (I don’t know what they are called over there.)
6:55 Pilot: Jesus christ, pick a pad! This is why I fly using the rule: Land on the same pad you took off from at the start. This always prevents crashes at main!
They really missed an opportunity with the VDV commander not going “all units, irene I say again…. Irene” and then everyone else going “ireeeeeene” as they start to take off.

This goes to prove how effective using Helis at the start of the map really is! I wish squad Leads would stop insisting on using Logis instead of helos at the start and just have one guy drive the logi to the front line, once the HAB is already up and running!
I'm not usually a fan of the Eye in the Sky vids, but I really wanted to see this layer in action and this was a good demonstration of it. I hope OWI puts in more unique layers like this - I'm especially a fan of air-centric assault maps, going back to some of my Battlefield fav's.
36:40 That is common sense among experienced pilots like myself. I do this on every match I'm in. Bring supplies to the mid caps so the logis don't have to drive all the way back to main. :)
Im genuinely surprised how close the players are able to get close to each others w/o hearing themselves or even seeing themselves first. Maybe im too used to hunt giving you everything to detect where your enemies are via sound queues but aren't you supposed to hear when someone gets close to you like at 27:31? Or even when two people are up walking close to each others ?
That’s me who died. I don’t think I could hear him. When someone is crawling, they don’t make a lot of noise. Combine that with me being fixated on the tree line up ahead and all of the other noises, I didn’t notice him. With the combat overhaul, footsteps make a lot more noise. I’m not sure if crawling gets louder as well, but it might happen

Why the hell do guys turn a video game politic? Like I get, I am unable to do anything about gender turning politic, I am unable to do anything about food and refugees turning politic. Why can't I just sit down and watch a video about a game in wich 2 teams fight it out without hearing about the war in wich my friends and my cousin ia fighting? Just why? Hey dude, just seen your channel, long story short ive been looking for a squad community. where do you think I can find one that is closely to "tactical" or "milsim" maybe not hardcore but implied. Any advice?
Teams seem to be rather uneven on this one. 4 VDV choppers dropping full squads on all sides of the airfield and IMF seemed to only have 2 or 3 squads in total with only 1 defending the actual objective. Seems like this game was setup for the VDV to win.
Noob question as I'm watching Squad videos to prepare for when you I get a proper gaming PC. What do you mean by layer in the context used here? Is it basically a modded server? I've watched a lot of you other eye in the skies videos recently and layer was never mentioned
Im not sure if you ever figured this out on your own since, but just incase, a 'layer' in squad is a map variant, every map has multiple of them deciding what factions are fighting on it, and what vehicles they have. This is Yehorivka map, game mode Invasion, version (layer) 4.
I’ve played a this layer 4 times and never have the VDV captured the first point (I played as the militia), so I imagine if the milita set up good AA and work to stop any far away pushes than they can win easy.
Yehorivka invasion V4. I noticed that “the potato fields 3 | invasion 24/7 new player friendly” has it in it’s rotation, but it hasn’t been seeded each time I take a look. I’ve been asking for the admins to change the next layer to this one, just for once, but it hasn’t happened yet. I really want to play it again, this time as a pilot. Being militia seems like it could be fun as well
Please, for the love of god, get a second monitor and run the map on that, so you can work out where to look without taking us out of the action every ten seconds.
Are these games held at certain times, or do you just go through picking out random matches from any of the Potato Fields' servers and spectate? Are these from the Potato Fields ?
These EitS matches are usually live matches that he streamed first on his Twitch (the RU-vid video is essentially a VOD). They are from the Potato Fields servers (which Moi own/admins); which one varies, depending on day and what he feels like streaming.
Propaganda puffy vehicles that are too expensive. BMP-T could be fun and it isnt part of that new decade old chassis replacement program. Once they do get destroyed, I think there will be reevaluation on whether they are worth it. Apart from stornger gun, T-14 doesnt seem that spectacular to me at least. And if they wished, they could fix T-90M+ transmission.
