Hello, maybe you can help me. I detail cars and would like to be able to touch up small areas with an airbrush. I have a 20 gallon air compressor that has filters/regulators etc. can I get an airbrush that hooks directly to my compressor? If so do you have some products in mind that you’d recommend? I see kits that have mini compressors but I figured maybe I could save $ and just get a gun and hose?

@SonofaFink 11 месяцев назад
Your aircompressor would work perfect I highly recommend an iwata HP-CS airbrush its a great workhorse and will last you forever plus it aids in learning and quality of finish as u don't fight a spitting airbrush while trying to learn and u can connect your airbrush hose directly into your airhose I would recommend adding a Minnow filter from Fisheye Filters it attaches directly to your airbrush line and is a water and contaminate filter inline that is amazing. If you ever have any questions would love to help you get it all figured out

I just went to the big box store to get brass fittings to adapt the airbrush 1/8” NPT fittings to the compressor 1/4” NPT fittings. Not a big deal and cost may $2 per fitting. You may need two like me, if you can’t find one that works.

The Master airbrush G44 is basically the CMC plus but for 40 bucks if you want a cheaper, similar brush

The quality of the iwata will last years versus the money you save im not about to save 40 bucks to respond it again that's silly buy quality especially when learning so u not fighting inferior equipment while learning

I'm glad it works great for you in what you are doing i know the Hp-cs is one of there highest sold brushes so there's that too I think it all depends on what you working on I suppose as long as it's iwata u doing yourself a huge favor. Appreciate you and your opinion I honestly don't know the difference on thst brush for detail work I usually break out my kustom cmc plus

Feel free to ask any questions at all in my vlogs coming up ill be airbrushing 2 different kustom motorcycles one of them ill be teaching a bunch of cool super 70s techniques the other is pretty wild if you have anything you wanna learn I can make a video about it to help you I struggle sometimes remembering the questions I had when I was learning and I totally love encouraging the next generation of artists it makes for good content too. I truly appreciate the sub model cars are pretty difficult tbh it gets easier the bigger scale you go adds room for detail work it allows u room for bigger mistakes while you are learning too I usually tell people to go to the thrift store pick up anything cool shaped and metal or wood prep it up and go nuts all over it painting over old mistakes till you love what's going on then u can keep the cool piece or sell it for more art supplies. I love doing weird stuff or since u probably do a bunch of models maybe find or make some display cases and airbrush the shelves inside the only reason I recommend going bigger then focusing on detail is so u don't get frustrated and quit u are very ambitious airbrushing models if u ever got into graphics. I love that you airbrushing models btw I'm still very intimidated by them they are very meticulous

I've had badger airbrushes in the past I didn't like them they were more picky and high strung and didn't last as long as an iwata. I also hate the oring issues on badgers I love all my iwata airbrushes I try the new ones when they come out but seem to only spend my personal $ on iwata

Hi can I get an air brush with a half inch fan ?
@SonofaFink
@SonofaFink 3 месяца назад
Your fan pattern has alot to do with how far u pull the trigger back with the .035 tips on my iwata hp-cs about half to ¾ pullback for 1/2 in wide pattern but if u looking for a super consistent fan patter look at an iwata Hiline trigger style airbrush should get u there

Quick question, my dad gave me a brand new iwata, it's grav fed, it came with big and a little pot that screw on obviously, it's not about me at the minute, id like to know what compressor you would advise to buy, I've sprayed many cars on my own knowledge and had good results, the thing is, is a compressor with a tank and trap, better than a plug in?
@SonofaFink
@SonofaFink Год назад
I'd use one with a tank and instead of one with a trap I would use a fisheye filter to get the water out of the line. The different pot sizes just change how much paint you can hold.

I used mine to do car models all the time it does amazing fine line work for sure. When u get a quality airbrush u fight the tool less when u are learning cheaper ones will spit and dryspray the tip can really discourage one from ever enjoying the creating art part

I would say you need a spot/door jam gun, like get one from harbor freight. We have a whole playlist about airbrushing on our channel with tips and tricks that might help you while you're learning if you start painting with airbrushes too. You should also look into using a fisheye filter. They will get all the water out of your line, work better than a lot of the other methods for air filtration. Thanks for commenting brother! 🔥🔥🤘🤘😁😁

I don’t like the paint cap in front of my vision. Feels like I always am turning the Airbrush slightly sideways to see good.

I don't think I've ever looked down the back if the airbrush while trying to paint earlier after I first read this I attempted to put the cup in my vision and wasn't able to at all. I guess we all paint differently lol

Coujj oh d you paint on acoustic guitar?
@SonofaFink
@SonofaFink 4 месяца назад
Yeah I've done quite a few I like to airbrush cheaper guitars the paint will change the sound slightly ive seen it makes cheaper guitars sound better its less the paint but what we seal it with adds a bit of density to the wood

@@SonofaFink oh okay interesting. I was curious. I have a big baby Taylor. 499$. High quality and plays smooth in my opinion. Someone else in your field recommended Lacquer based paint for the process?. What’s your opinion on getting something like that done? Any guidance would guide ✊. Even business inquires if you have the time and price if reasonable.
@SonofaFink
@SonofaFink 4 месяца назад
Taylor it won't hurt any it will probably enrichen the sound I love to use an automotive clear on them it protects the art adds a bit of durability acoustics take a bit of delicate work to prep the surface for paint so u want to make sure you have a professional artist and someone who has done them they can turn a 600$ guitar into a 5$ wall art piece or help you create something worth 2k$ the prep cost is going to be a smidgen higher than doing like a motorcycle tank because of delicate hands depending on graphics I start at 1500$ and the sky is the limit after that i will say i painted one guitar and got paid 12k it was ridiculous though lol. I can recommend good artists in your area too so you don't have to ship a guitar all over fearing damage but another good option is mail to them fly to pick up and take home depending on what u thinking art wise too u wanna pick the right artist to get the most amazing artwork especially if u thinking portrait work that pale wood lends itself to sick portraits is why I say that. If u worried about cost ive honestly wondered about uv printing directly onto a guitar I've seen it over woodgrain and they printed a picture directly on it they lay a film on the wood then use a laser to create the color. I mention it because I had a meeting about it yesterday about possibly doing it on something we doing so I thought it was worth mentioning height might be a concern lol. I'm currently moving to Florida with the tourbus snd setting up shop in Oklahoma my schedule is a bit out probably next fall but if your in the right areas I'm always willing to barter for private concerts or maybe help mske music for the channel lol I love helping fellow artists we gotta watch out for each other. As for the paint I prefer a urethane based clear coat on top it adds tons of protection for the guitar and abuse it could see and keeps the kick ass art in tact. And to be honest I think the guitar sounds better after we purposely put 9 coats of clear on an acoustic electric and got such a deeper richer sound ive done 2 for him since he works in a recording studio he liked the different tone said hard to duplicate

@SonofaFink

Eclipse hpcs is your workhorse to hammer 80% out the micron is to tighten up all the details
@93adamh
@93adamh 10 месяцев назад
@SonofaFink I do own microns but I honestly find that my HP-BH does everything that they can and it’s far less choosy with paints. That said, I don’t have a 0.23 and I reeeeeeally want to try the CM-CP to compare. I’ve always wondered if it would better handle paint with it being a bigger nozzle than the HP-BH
