I own a ps771 dru blair, with swapped trigger spring, and just acquired a Kustom CM mint from Oct 06'. I'm excited to compare, but your results I already agree with. This Micron has all the features of the modern CM C+, But a larger Cup, taller trigger, the Mac valve and cutaway handle, plus it's designed for primarily solvents. Thanks for a great video, and I completely agree GSi Creos brushes are fantastic quality. All Mr. Hobby stuff is fire

Own a ps289 for about 6-8 months, fantastic AB, the only thing is the cup from inside is orange-red colour now, because of cleaners and thinners as you mentioned. Ps290 trigger type and ps 270 are in my collection for about 3months ps290 and 1 month ps270, what can I say, as a model builder, bigger scale 1:9 motorcycles and 1:35 vehicles, ps290 is awesome, literally it is a mini spray gun, as for me one of the advantages of ps290 is two nozzle cups in a box. Ps270 I'm using it for smaller details (bolts, fastenings, etc) it does it very well. These 3 are very reliable ABs. Of course I'd like to try Iwata one day maybe Will start with Iwata eclipse hp-cs. Have a good day 🙂

Ps771, is actually a micron. They both come out of the same factory under the "micron" line. Tldr, iwta dont manufacture the airbrush, they are a brand/ distributor for a factory called Fuso Seiki (BB rich). You can tell they are all of the same design, their parts are interchangable! Only problem is every brands "Micron" have different needle size. Iwata, Mr hobby, rich pen, olympus. These brands' top models are all microns and interchangeable parts between them all. I have tried. Also not saying iwata is a small company they are actually one of the largest heavy machinery manufacturer and builder in japan. Airbrush is not their first priority hence they hire others to make.

The micron and ps771 have completely different bodies. The trigger is closer to the tip on the micron than it is on the creos. They arent the same design even remotely.

Siiiick, just ordered a PS-270, am super stoked! It'll be my second airbrush, started with a cheap dual action Timbertech brush I got of Amazon, which as a noob seems pretty decent, still can't wait to compare the two. I;ve heard nothing but great things about the PS-270.

@@dredfxcustompaint Dred, in your opinion the difference between PS-771 and PS-270 is minimal or zero? I have the PS-270 but I was thinking of swapping it for the 771. Do you think it's just spending money unnecessarily? Thanks and congratulations!

Great review! Thank you for being so thorough. I wonder how the Mr. Hobby PS771 would stack up against a Harder & Steenbeck Infinity 2-in-1 (with 0.15mm needle)?
@dredfxcustompaint

The 771 will smash the infinity on trigger and is more user friendly when it comes to paint plus you get a mac valve I have the infinity yes it's a good Brush but you move on thanks for watching and the feedback much appreciated all the best rob 👍

@@dredfxcustompaint Id mostly agree with this.. And as you touched on. If you don't mind the extra length of the 270, It will keep up with almost any of them. The infinity being easier to clean than any of them. Heck if one was so inclined you could put the 771 head assembly and needle on the 270 :) (packing change as well) I've had the 270 for a couple years already. it still operates as new.. aside from the cup showing brass inside there is no wear. again my iwatas also show brass inside the cup as well Ill be looking at the takumi in person at the beginning of next month.. I dont usually use side feeds so I doubt ill purchase one... unless of course my brain forces me to :) Cheers buddy!

@@TheAIRspace I have 3 270's and have recently converted one of those with 771 head, needle and packing. It worked out really well and I'm still trying to decide which feels nicer to use , the 'Franken 270-771' or my stock 771
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 2 года назад
@@lancewhitford8101 I actually prefer the extra length of the 270, the 270 with the 771 head on it would be the ideal length for me. I find the 771 and of course the micron to be just a little small for my hand... Probably due to years of work with an eclipse. As you already know the 270 trigger is so smooth already you really dont notice the minor difference in the micron style trigger. I also like them a bit stiffer and keep the spring wound up as tight as possible. if they get too soft it just doesn't feel like it has the same snap back responsiveness to me. Keep slinging paint!
@Dude_Slick
@Dude_Slick 2 года назад
@@dredfxcustompaint Personally I love my infinity for uro based paints. I got it before they so called upgraded it to the CR, and have zero issues with trigger action as I've heard is common. And I like the nickle finish. When I can swing another brush (meaning as soon as the wife will let me) I'm pretty set on the PS771. But the infinity will always have a home in my heart.

Hey Rob i don't know if you've heard but they have stopped making the micron and they are bringing a newer version out plus I think I read somewhere that the greos needle and nozzle will fit in the micron but they are also made out of a softer metal so it will not take the knocks like the micron. Yeah the Takumi's.. They will be good!. I think Iwata did see that the sales went back, because of the amazing Creos stuff and rethink the whole situation. And there they are. The new Takumi's. Comes out in Eclipse SBS and Micron series. The new good thing is they reduced the tip to trigger distance, so the airbrush can be hold with one hand without loosing grip and control And yes, they will stop producing the Eclipse SBS models for sure

How would you compare the precision on the trigger (like spraying at the same pull back distance) between the PS270 and the PS771? My use case is a little different, I paint models, and my H&S Silverline and PS290 are perfect for painting surfaces. But when I want to post shade things like panel lines, I find the H&S has too much variance on when the paint starts to flow, making it really hard to follow the lines on the model. I can't even use the trigger stop, because it varies when the paint sprays on each trigger pull. I also imagine the performance will vary depending on paint type, am I asking the impossible, using acrylic lacquers like Tamiya and Mr Color? 29:50 Oh I see you anticipated my question : ) Thanks, I will leave this comment for the algorithm, and subscribe

Hi I would say the micron if your up close on the detail the micron has more finesse than the 771 but the 771 has a mac valve which is a bonus
@leatherforpets3636
@leatherforpets3636 7 месяцев назад
the mac valve does not lower the psi. in fact it will raise it when you close it down. if you dont believe it look at your compressor when you close the valve. what the mac valve is doing is controling the volume of air

Very interesting video Rob, as you know I've never picked up an airbrush so now nothing but this video has given me the basics that I need if I was going to get one. I have zero talent for any freehand airbrushing but was thinking about using stencils for adding logo's and small designs to my panels just to add something different to my hobby so I would say that the cheaper Greos would fit the bill. Oh who's that dodgy geezer called Tony that keeps popping up and commenting on your vids 🤔 I think he could be trouble 😂, having said that I think I saw you pop up on Tony's vid on Friday 😎 great to see you in the live chat Rob 👌👍
