Airbrushing Kryptek Camo is a quick demonstration of how I airbrush a Kryptek camouflage pattern on a Ruger Precision Rifle barrel using Createx Wicked and Auto Air Colors paints. I cut out vinyl and reusable clear plastic stencils on a plotter prior to the airbrushing process.

Very helpful. Like a fool, I've decided to do my first paint job in Krypek. It's a complex pattern with a lot of depth provided by the artist's talent. Your video really answered a lot of questions. Looks great and thank you!

Where did you find that wicked clear stencil toward the end?
@wickedartstudio

I made those stencils myself.

What type of stand did you use to hold barrel. Nice work

Those were thick (about an inch thick) steel plates with various v notches machined out of them. I've probably had them around the shop for twenty years or so. I don't recall what they actually came from. It was likely something for a hydraulic press or maybe a bench vise. I'm really not sure. Sorry I can't help you out more on that. Thank you for the kind compliment!

Beautiful! Just wondering, how heat resistant is this? I am thinking about competition guns that often gets shot until very hot. Is this paints heat resistant enough to stand up to that kind of use?
@wickedartstudio
@wickedartstudio 2 года назад
It is quite durable as far as heat is concerned provided you clear the finished part with a good, catalyzed urethane clear coat. The barrel in this video is attached to a rifle that has seen its fair share of heat in competitions and the paint has held up very well.

Es gibt Dateien, die online heruntergeladen werden können. Leider habe ich die in diesem Video verwendete Datei selbst entworfen und habe sie derzeit nicht zum Verkauf.

How well does Createx hold up on firearms? Will the cleaner/oil remove it.
@wickedartstudio
@wickedartstudio 3 года назад
Hey Tony! Createx will hold up extremely well on firearms provided you use a catalyzed clear over the top of it. Prep work before applying any paint is obviously very important. It's essentially the same process I use when painting vehicles. Automotive urethane clears are very durable. They resist fuels, oils and solvents (including gun cleaning solvents) very well. I've painted a number of firearms over the last decade or so using Createx paint with a 2k clear coat. All of them have held up extremely well! All of the guns I have painted, with the exception of one, are fired and cleaned pretty regularly by their owners too.

Hi, what airbrush do you use? What tip/needle and pressure?
@wickedartstudio
@wickedartstudio 3 года назад
I use Iwata airbrushes almost exclusively. Generally speaking, I use the HP-CS Eclipse (with a .35 mm needle/nozzle) more than any other airbrush I own. There are other videos I've uploaded on my channel that delve into the air pressure setting a little more thoroughly than I would be able to answer in text here. You can find one here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_sg48yHf1Mk.html and another here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nnk4H0F1saA.html

@@mariofigueiredo516 You can use Cerakote for this, but I think you'll need to use heat resistant masks.

@@mariofigueiredo516 A .35 mm should work fine.
