In action: Aircraft parts machining, see what it looks like driving up to and walking into Aircraft Specialties Services.
Come along as I take a tour of the shop and pick up my Lycoming engine O-320-B2A crankshaft.

Yes… used is much harder to come by with all the crazy lead times now. I’m thankful my O-320 crank turned out well. The crankcase is out for a 90-120 day lead.

Each one will vary in needed repair, this one was around $1,675.

hey buddy. I am in A&P school over a year in. I have seen your interviews and would like to do one as someone who is in school and would like to encourage others to become a mechanic. its been a hell of a journey. wish more people knew what this field has to offer.

Lots of metal removal but none added to components which generally means a weaker component.

.010'' I agree weaker, but not enough to be a concern. It's well within the design tolerance. Planning to start finally building this engine late July!
