In this video, we go through the different methods to calculate the takeoff roll of an aircraft. If you wish to do this with your own models, be sure to search for POH plus whatever the name of the aircraft is. Two examples:
Cessna 172N

Diamond DA40

Thank you for this - this was the only link I could find with the example I needed. Something I struggled with is something you did not include as you transitioned to the other chart @ 8:15 - the total to clear a 50' obstacle with the headwind after calculating the ground roll on grass. You calculated the ground roll on grass at 1,767' (1,630 +137 = 1,767'). Take the -10% head wind from that and you get your the total to clear a 50' obstacle of 1,590'. Please correct me if my math is wrong.

I get it now, all of it. You’re a savior! Thank you

just use max weight,,, 30 C temp,, 5k altitude,,, get that number,, double it,,, now you will always have a length of runway you can take off of all in 1 number :))

Your both answers are correct and we're the same with both charts. You made it wrong with the first one when you added.

Thanks! Very informative as always.

Are you sure this is correct? You should be adding the ground roll figure to the take off 50 and doing the rest of the calculations on that figure!

This is the first time I've heard you add the values. I must disagree if this. That's why it says "total"

Please tell me what app you are using to show the charts. Thanks!

BS why didn’t find the exact figures for 850ft and 11c rounding up doesn’t help

Why did he use the 20 C column to do the calculation in the sample problem he gave us when the temperature was 11C?

Probably just to switch things up

As he says in the video, always round up. So you go to the 20C column.

You need to round up the number to the next one in the chart.Doing that will assure you that your plane will take less than the answear you arrive to in order to lift off.
