After 11 years of strictly hand pumping I have finally went to an Omega compressor & cf tank. Wow, what a difference! I will never go back to a hand pump again. Thanks!
Shield400: Would you mind sharing which Omega you went with, what kind of use it see's on average, and how things are going with it? The Omega Trail, Air and Super Chargers are on my list, and I was just wondering how long they will likely run before needing an overhaul.
You might add that if you choose to lengthen the 12v cables and it becomes a considerable increase you typically should also go up in wire thickness as well,. The compressor amp draw and wire run length will determine the gauge needed. Normally manufacturers do not overdue the wire gauge thickness due to the expense of CU. so expect the size used to be too small a gauge to use for a much longer run. This is important for safety and longevity of the compressor as it will greatly help in voltage drop and reducing heat, plus consider that if you run wires permanently from the battery this in itself can be a potential safety hazard and care should be taken when routing, especially without a fuse or fuseable link (at the battery connect point) of some sort. I have seen many a vehicle burned to the ground due to wiring issues.
I ordered that same compressor straight from Air Venturi dealers for less then $650! I'm really looking forward to it as Monday I'll be getting my first ever PCP!
Thank you so much Matt. One day I will have a Nomad ll looks like a great product. Thanks for bringing all these great videos and information to me and those who need to see them.
I recommend using a higher gauge wire because of the distance on DC voltage. Using to small a wire can cut back on the amps witch can cause motor to run hot 🥵 are damage it. This just a suggestion 😊
I received the overpriced $700 compressor and the first thing i noticed is the Made in China label, i didn't even bother opening the box, sent it back within two days for a full refund and bought an 80 cu ft Scuba tank that with my limited shooting schedule and perhaps 20 shots per day may require a trip to a local scuba shop maybe twice a year.. I no longer buy Chinese junk..
Thank you for the information. In your video you mentioned that in order to take a couple of extra bottles for your gun you would need an adaptor to spin onto the bottle in order to attach it to the compressor. Can you please tell us where such an adaptor can be purchased? Who make them? Do they come with gauges to read pressure inside the bottles? Much appreciated.
I just bought the Chinese air compressor and main it takes a lot of maintenance. Rather just use my hand pump! But now I want this Air Venturi compressor because for me it’s so handy. I don’t wanna use the big scuba tanks I’m good with a paint ball tank but with just the compressor I’m set. If it wasn’t so damn expense. But one day....
I had one of these and returned it l. It worked great until the internal inverter burnt out. It still work when plugged into vehicle , but not 110 inside the house. It uses a cheap ac/dc inverter. Wish it was not internal. It’s a hassle to take off the 12 screws and take out the inverter. I am currently trying out the Omega Trail Charger. So far so good. And has an external inverter.
Had two Nomad II compressors also, one lasted 2 days under light loads and the other for 3 days under light loads(50cc) Got the Trailcharger for $100 more and still rockin'. Also if you decide you want a few more bars when topping off, you don't have to bleed it too start compressing again. Maybe they have improved the Nomads but I doubt it. No brainer, Omega is not as convenient but it makes the Nomad look stupid. Take it or leave it folks.✌
I know you'll probably never see this since it's such an old video, but just in case. I'm interested to know if this is something you still use and how you feel the durability has been? Thanks for all your great vids!! Hunting in South Africa is now on my buckets list!!! :D
Hello Mat about how long would it take to fill your gun from empty just curious, Thank You, Love your show. I just wish there were more guys here at the fire house that were into it as much as me.
So now that you have had some time with all of your compressors, which one do you recommend for someone that just wants to fill rifles directly? No bottles. I live on my own "farm" lol and never got bottles because there isn't a place within 2hrs of me to fill them so I have just always used the hand pump and because of that the interest level has dwindled. So, which one is going to last the longest before needing maintenance and also needs to be user serviceable. Have you heard of the GX CS3-1? I hear they are a omega trail charger clone..... 🤷
Luckily in the UK we can get air cylinders shipped. I got mine from Wish website for £140 including valve with air charging gear fitted. How they get away with charging the prices in the UK is crazy. 500 cc carbon bottle off wish is £70 then best fittings bottle valve and jobs a good un.
Mate is or was an air arms ambassador but I believe he is now bought and paid for by FX sadly sponsorship has taken over most of the RU-vidrs notice his tea shirt
Hello Matt, A way to make your review of the Nomad different from Giles and Steve, and answer a burning question (of mine). will a compressor fill the Huben to 5000 psi, and do it again and again, that would be a true test. Please keep the videos coming, very educational, thanks.
@@AirArmsHuntingSA I really need to learn how to insert smiley. Hello Matt, thanks for your reply , Honest question do you/have you ever , filled your Huben air tank to its full capacity and if so how (2 questions) , Joe Brancato over in the States does, it increased the shot count quite a bit, your take on this would be appreciated, thanks again.
great informative review! easy to follow, i 'm a subscriber of your channel and love to watch your video reviews... i'm a new pcp user, but do not have a pcp pump, i am just borrowing from a friend, i'm looking for someone to donate one..my wish for christmas.. thanks for sharing.. more power to your channel!
Where can I get the adapter to connect the Nomad directly to an FX Impact canister? Can one be made using existing FX parts, like the canister attachment part and the air filler part? Seems one might be able to make a part to connect these two FX parts.....
I’ds be curious if you have been using this since this video. I had one of these and it would not build pressure. Three weeks air venturi never contacted me after multiple attempts... PA replaced the unit and it’s replacement unit has been solid for 6 weeks... Air venturi was WORTHLESS when it came to customer service... I heard back 4 weeks after my voicemail, email, and social media attempt to contact them. For 800 bucks I’m not sure I’m going to get the years of service that price demands.....
I would not want my face or body in front of that quick release attached to the fill probe. I had a few accident where they slip out and whip that cable.
@@AThreeDogNight I think its usually just some reservoir where it collects. but i actually dont know for these small ones, we just have a huge ass compressor with an external unit to take moisture out of the system. And no, water doesnt compress to an extent that is noticeable :D
Just getting into pcp air guns so I have been looking at the refill tanks. My first pcp is the Diana stormrider came with a hand pump huff huff huff. How many refills would I get with a 74 or 88 cubit foot 4500 psi tank. Also I'm looking at the new dreamline classic how many refills would I get with it I notice you have got a dreamline is why I'm asking also the Diana is a 200 bar gun and I never let it fall below 130 bar before refilling
Hi good day Matt just wanted find out I have an option of buying a Air rifle but in a break barrel. What calibre would you suggest. Id like to use it for pigeon and some Guinea fowl hunting
good luck with it Matt. One of our members at GTA had two fail in a month or so. Typical low quality eastern machine. Comes in a nice box though. GRRRR!! KnifeMaker
hello hadsome. your new hairstyle is very cool. clould u Suggest me the 1.175jsb best size for lothar wolther? the bullet head diameter and tail diameter. thx
Have you ever owned or researched the cheap chinese compressors? on airgunnation.com there is an extensive long term review chart of hundreds of these compressors. Mine has never failed me and I don't know anyone who has had their failed (personally) but even if it failed and wasn't refunded and I had to buy it over (3) times... it's still a better compressor.
This compressor is the same one I use that I bought from Ebay. They are all made in China rebranded to increases their price in order to get more profit, Jajajaja 🙃.
Gunshops love to sell high spec air rifles, then you are on your own, a drive to the coast to the dive shop isn't handy, why don't they have a compressor on the premises? Maybe driving a New Range Rover is more important than the customers air gun sport!
Ok it's getting to be a bit too exclusive for a hobby/lifestyle that's supposed to be down to earth, lack of ability to research or something? Get used (but good) bottles and a 250$ Yong Heng high pressure compressor /watch?v=vs6HPIpxwRY, it's reliable and rebuildable, which we actually can't say for all these new high dollar compressors. Then invest in the quality hoses and valves, it won't run nearly as much as even single items proposed here.
I doubt that the CF bottle is made in SA. I'm guessing that it comes from China like the AV Nomad. Nothing wrong with that but cutting out the middlemen can save plenty.
