Nice painting on your 7th Cavalry figures. This airfix set would have been a great addition for my Marx Ft. Apache forces when I was a kid. Unfortunately they weren't around back then. I did add some Britain's 7th Cavalry to my Ft. Apache. But they were a little pricey. Cheers!
FIQUEI SINCERAMENTE APAIXONADO POR ESSAS FIGURAS, AS DEFINIÇÕES TANTO DOS SOLDADOS COMO AS DOS ANIMAIS SÃO FASCINANTE PARABÉNS MEU PARABÉNS MESMO 🤜🤛👍🤝🔥💥🔥💥💥💥
HAVE THE ORIGNAL AIRFIX ,GOT THEM WHEN THEY CAME OUTIN 1976.THEY GO GREAT WITH BRITAIN 7TH. CAVALRY AND MARX CAVALRY.BEEN COLLECTING SINCE THE LATE 60S. GOD BLESS AND BE SAFE
Cool. I have some Britain 7th Cavalry too and as you say they go well with them. They also go well with waterloo 1815 Custers last stand sets that were released last year. Cheers.
Beautiful figures! But, as you said, a bit on the pricey side, which is why I never bought any. But I do have the Britains painted plastic Civil War guys including the mounted Confederates which are my favorites. But for simple tabletop play I use the BMC 7th Cavalry, unpainted, along with the BMC butterscotch-colored Indians. They were real cheap when I bought them and I also have a reissued stockade fort to go with them. Nice video!
One could try to trim the scabbards, given the fact that soldiers generally let the sabres behind at depots before going on campaign, as seen on "Son of the Morning Star" (excellent movie on Custer's last stand), probabilly the bugler/standard bearer was done to save a figure.
these airfix minifigures have good detail, also the hand painting is very good, congratulations. it is a pity that they have gone out of production.. I hope one day they will make a reprint.
do you know why these figures can't be used for a little big horn diorama ? because Custer decided not to bring sabers for this mission as they will make to much noise and will help their enemies to spot them.
Mark, another great job! I wondered do you use acrylic or enamel paint? I'e always used enamel but it's getting harder to find so I'm thinking of switchng. I've been very satisfied over the years how enamel has held up and wondered if acrylic wil?
Hi Bob, thanks. I use acrylic paint. Citadel and Humbrol Acrylic are the paints I use. They wouldn't be as tough as enamel but they seem to hold up well. I give the figures 2 coats of the acrylic paint after priming them. Then I put on 2 coats of matt varnish to give that little extra bit of protection.
I used to like to play with toy soldiers as a boy recently I have been thinking about purchasing some my age now 70yr old I'm I just trying to reliving my childhood is this normal or I'm I just being silly what do the viewers think ?
I use citadel and Humbrol Acrylic paints. For the shirts I used citadel kantor blue and put a black wash over it. For the trousers/pants i mixed citadel lothern blue and Humbrol Acrylic number 65 to achieve a sky blue colour.
