Great review! Thanks for showing all the detail, just got one of these to do. I'd just like to make another comment on the cockpit ejector pin marks haha... some of them are pin marks but a few, at least the ones at the top of the cockpit sidewalls are actually lightening holes in the frame on the real aircraft!

Having recently built this kit, it goes together beautifully and those nasty ejector pin marks in the cockpit side aren't visible.

One advantage the Airfix kit has over the Eduard kit is full radiator inlet and outlet ducting. On the Eduard kit you have to buy an aftermarket Brassin part if you want this detail (it’s not that visible TBH).

Except for the windscreen, which Eduard can substitute, the Airfix is just a better kit generally.

Having built this and the Eduard kit the Airfix kits is a better build but the Edard has better surface detail . Decals are better in the Airfix kit

If you adapt the more accurate Eduard windscreen, and the more detailed Eduard flaps, to the Airfix kit, then the Airfix becomes by far the better kit... Eduard had a myriad of small faults: NO depiction of the center cowl fasteners, right on top(!): poor depiction of the nose fasteners generally. Terrible depiction of the machinegun openings, which are infinitely better on Airfix, and also fit way, way better on that kit, a major focal point and stumbling block on many P-51 kits. Too thin and too tall legs on Eduard, Airfix is again dead on. Finally, the Eduard sliding canopy frame is too thin. The Meng is also generally better for metal finishes.
