I’m glad to see SWA is hiring we need to make sure all these new hires are Southwest kinds of people. With the MAX 7 just around the corner we need pilots and Flight Attendants to work the flights. Hopefully you will get that 4th stripe soon. I enjoyed the video.

I really enjoy your channel Big Ern. I am also a 73 guy myself. On my 9th window with SWA and still knocking on the door. I am on LTD for back surgery but have high hopes to return this year. It's great to see some Positive Hiring news! You guys are having so much fun you ALMOST make me wish I could strap on an Airbus again and get back to work! Thought I had some sinus problems that would prevent me from flying as a career in the future. Saw an ent and he said I just had sinus squeeze and it’ll be a one and done fix for life. Surgically repaired but one and done. Huge sigh of relief was super nervous. Onto get that cfi now!!!

Dear Ern: Thank you for your answer. Think about this idea..Is it possible to use as part of your time in the cockpit to relate anecdotal situations that either you or other pilots have been in difficult situations. It could be weather-related, or it could be an oversight by a pilot or cru member. I guess what I am saying is to include a story or anecdote from a pilot, a crew member, an oversight by a maintenance person, a difficult landing, etc. Something that could come from your experience or the experience of others. Thank you in advance for at least giving it some thought. Something short but exciting and interesting.

Hi I'm planning to fly Southwest to LAX or BUR sometime later this year and am wondering just how weird it would be if I brought (wrapped and unopened, of course) boxes of chocolates for the crew. I just feel for you guys with all these weird things happening with passengers lately. Heard a very scary story about an American flight today. I got very into Southwest after being stuck in a supermarket check-out line for a half hour back at the beginning of the pandemic. The guy in front of me was a Southwest F.O., and he was really interesting to talk to. Although I couldn't imagine why he was living 60 miles from the airport, lol.

I REALLY want to apply to be a Pilot, but three things (1) I have only done 1 discovery flight, (2) I have mental illnesses that may get in the way of me flying, and (3) I take medication for several conditions, not just mental illnesses (I have Level 1 Autism, and ADHD). I want to fly for fun though, if the FAA allows me to. I am going on an airplane next month! I'm flying jetBlue, but I usually fly Southwest to Orlando! I live in the Mid-Atlantic, and I noticed that on the bigger aircraft I fly on, it feels like 2.5 hours flying time whereas, the smaller jets feels like 1.75 or so flying time. I am going on an E90, which I love flying on, but I think this may be a tad bit too long of a ride for that, but you work in the airline industry, and I don't, so you will know better than me. I apologize for rambling on, I'm just EXCITED about FINALLY escaping this TERRIBLE winter (and I am a downhill skier too) we have had here in the DC Area. I'm flying from DCA-MCO and back, 8 days later.

Hi Ern, I have a question please. On a SWA 737 800 after push back and engine start, I noticed a large amount of fluid pouring out of the wing like a garden hose near the tip, my guess is about 5 gallons or more spilled onto the tarmac when the flaps were set for take off. Could this be fuel venting? I have never seen this before. I was not sure if I should say anything to the crew. The flight was normal. Thank you.

Man without seeing it I wouldn’t know. Sounds unusual though coming from the wingtip. Our pushback crews are trained to watch for any issues during pushback and engine start though. Good question👍🏽

If Southwest is hiring, it might be a good time to buy its stock. There will probably be a market drop if Russia invades so that will have to settle first. I bought Southwest in the spring 2020, and then sold it at a good profit.

Saw spirit and sun country hiring 1500 hour pilots maybe try them. I only got 1292 but I got two type ratings with almost 400 turbine time I might wait to get to southwest. But if not I’ll try frontier

Hello! Sorry to bother, but I’ve seen some videos of yours and noticed you are a F/O For Southwest Airlines! I am current entering high school in hopes for once I am 17 to receive a privates pilot License And soon maybe join southwest, as it is my favorite airline, but I have one question is going into college a requirement for me to maybe become a future pilot for southwest? Currently not at 1500. We take pilots from all different avenues. I’d say fly at a place you really enjoy, on equipment you enjoy flying. Opportunity will come, just don’t forget to enjoy the journey👍🏽

no it doesnt hire from atp and you need too have 2500 hours which is a lot . Am going too to frontier direct program then transferring too United in the future

@@soarinwithsam805 the usual route is to fly for one of the regional airlines under American, Delta, or United or to fly private jets under part 135 until you have enough experience for one of the majors. I am currently in the flight program at a college and will be happy to answer any questions that you have about that or aviation in general (PS I'm in my second year of college so I'm still learning the ropes. Also, each college is a bit different but part 141 training has some benefits)

@@soarinwithsam805 Thanks. I just wanna offer a word of advice that was given to me. It's okay to have a specific company as your goal, but don't limit yourself to just that one company or that one route because things happen or don't always work out the way you plan. So for example, if you plan on flying with Envoy until you meet the requirements for Southwest, also consider some of the other regionals such as Endeavor, Skywest, PSA, etc in case Envoy doesn't work out. I absolutely LOVE your videos. I'm a 56 hour student living in Surprise AZ based out of Glendale (KGEU) Even though I'm in my 40's, I'm still pursuing a career as a professional pilot. Love the videos! Im currently a locomotive engineer and considering a career change at 45. Ill be starting from the beginning since i haven't flown in 13 years and only have 50 hours. I know im not to late to make such a move. My question is what can i realistically expect out of this career at my age? What is the best way other than building hours to make myself a competitive candidate in the industry?

I've flown enough times when the door is shut & locked but you missed the point, as wonderful as it may be, with all that goes on & it does to me it just screams come on in.
