I was a Mesa Pilot till about 12 months ago.. I quite, 30K gross and horribly expensive benefits.. really, loved my job, loved my coworkers.. but had to move on, pay… as simple as that pay…. NO PILOT SHORTAGE!!! Pilot PAY shortage!!!
There is definitely a pilot shortage. Airlines can’t afford to pay all pilots high pay and benefits (no business can do that). If less hours (250) were required (as they used to), lower wages for the start of a career would make sense because training and hours are less expensive. Abolish the 1,500 rule, fix the problem.
@@charlesnicholson7539 Can't afford? Mind you they're posting record profits and CEO's at these airlines are getting millions of dollars in pay increases. Lower wages, for a career that costs a quarter million dollars in some cases to enter, doesn't deserve starting wages that put you on food stamps.
Pay pilots what they are worth, along with investing in quality customer services, instead of just focusing on exec bonuses. Or maybe the government should break up the airline oligopolies to improve competition.
That is not a sustainable solution. What pilots at different stages of their careers are paid today is “what they are worth.” Airlines cannot afford to pay every pilot high wages and benefits. Abolishing the silly 1,500 hour rule, and thus making training less expensive, would solve this whole issue.
American, the one that forces Boeing to do the MCAST system on the MAX? they probably just don't want to pay contract firms to compete with their in-house offers to pilots
