Fun facts: the The two airport announcers at the start of the film were real LAX announcers, and actually married. The guy in the taxi was Howard Jarvis, a Californian politician and an advocate of fiscal responsibility: him waiting patiently in a taxi racking up a large bill was the in joke.

For pure silliness, this set the standard. The only joke that may be lost by people viewing this now is the casting: Leslie Nielsen (the doctor), Peter Graves (Captain Over), Lloyd Bridges (the airport manager), and Robert Stack (Captain Kramer) were all familiar performers who had been playing just these types of roles in serious TV dramas for the past 20+ years. Having them give the same solemn performances here just makes the silliness that much sillier.

Generational slang: the woman in bed with a horse refers to an expression of the day. When a married woman had a man on the side, it was common to say she had a stud on the side. The horse in bed with her was a stud.

They weren't laminating his ID! 🤣 That's how they used to run your credit card. They would put a piece of paper that had a carbon copy under it. When they ran it across; the ink would make an impression of the card. I love your channel! 🥰

The thing with this movie is while you’re laughing and thinking about a joke you miss out on another three. I have watched this loads of times and still notice something new everytime 😀🇬🇧

Full of dark humor, blue (naughty) humor, slapstick, word play, and sight gags. This is theater of the absurd, at its finest! Snippets of commercials of the time, and movies!! This movie is just fantastic! Love your reaction!!

There was once a B disaster movie called Zero Hour. They bought the rights and took the script and added lots of jokes. The rest is hilarious history.

Most of the actors in this film had never done comedy before and were better known as serious actors which makes the film even funnier. Leslie Nielsen who played the doctor went on to appear in many comedies after that including the Naked Gun trilogy. Incidentally the man who thought he was Ethel Merman was actually played by Ethel Merman a well-known Broadway and movie star.

The guy wasn't laminating his ID. He was taking a credit card impression. That's how credit cards worked before they had chips and magnetic stripes. And before that, the guy was checking the oil (as if there was a car engine under the hood). That used to be a regular thing in the old days of full-service gas stations.

This really shows how society has changed today: When 1980 audiences heard the pilot's "Grown man naked" question, we howled in laughter. I saw the movie three times in the theatre with different friends with me and it's such an out-of-left-field moment, we laughed. Watching today's youtube reactions, that line is treated with shock and confusion. Times change.

Actor Robert Hays who played Ted Striker is a pilot in real life and actually is qualified to fly multi-engine aircraft.. :) --- Lorna Patterson who played Randi sung "River of Jordan". That's her voice.
