performed by Lorna Patterson.
I traveled the banks of the River of Jordan
To find where it flows to the sea.
I looked in the eyes of the cold and the hungry
And I saw that I was looking at me.
And I wanted to know if life had a purpose
And what it all means in the end.
In the silence I listened to voices inside me
And they told me again and again.
There is only one river. There is only one sea.
And it flows through you, and it flows through me.
There is only one people. We are one and the same.
We are all one spirit, one name.
We are the father, we are one.
We are one, we are one.

Wyrmshadow, Absolutely Lorna Patterson can sing... Back in the early 1980's, I drove a Limousine part-time and drove for her a couple of times.... She would always sing to the songs on the radio and she had a beautiful voice... She especially loved singing that song "867-5309." But she was an even better person.. None of that snobby movie star shit that many act like.... She even invited me to eat dinner with her, instead of waiting outside like other drivers do... And to come in her house to "party" when I dropped her off... She was a better person than actress and that's rare in Hollywood!

Apparently when the Zucker/Abrahams asked Peter Yarrow for permission to use this song in the movie, he agreed. But he didn't know exactly how it was going to be used. And when Yarrow saw this scene he was angry and said if he knew it was going to be used this way, he never would have given permission. He's never spoken to them since.
@Stu8025
@Stu8025 9 лет назад
Niall Keane apparently peter yarrow was an idiot then...how did he think three writers of slapstick/spoof comedy were going to use it?
@LoneWolf1974
@LoneWolf1974 9 лет назад
Stu8025 Zucker/Abrahams weren't as well known back then and this was their fist feature film. (up until then their only credit was 'Kentucky Fried Theater') So it's entirely possible Peter Yarrow didn't know what kind of writers they were or what kind of a movie they were making. That's just my speculation of course.
@Stu8025
@Stu8025 9 лет назад
Niall Keane that is possible. still think he's an idiot though :p

+Niall Keane I have to agree with the guys above as - for me at least - this is the frist time I have met the name Peter Yarrow...this song had never had the range of audiance as it got with this movie...and just like for some of the guys above, I also think this is by far the best version of this song....

Both the mother and daughter have a connection to Gavin McLeod, who played Murray Slaughter on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" (1970-1977) and Captain Merrill Stubing on "The Love Boat" (1977-1986). The mother, Joyce Bulifant, played McLeod's wife on MTM, and the daughter was Vicki, McLeod's daughter, on Love Boat. :)

All of these years, I've overlooked something: the mother is played by Joyce Bulifant; her daughter is played by Jill Whelan. Bulifant played Gavin MacLeod's wife on "Mary Tyler Moore", Whelan played MacLeod's daughter on "The Love Boat".

Sister Angelina played by Maureen McGovern I think did the singing. It's similar to Airport '75 (the movie) with Helen Reddy (the nun) singing.
