AirPod Pro: How To Change Ear Tips Safely 

Thanks for the demonstration! I would just add it felt to me a little bit harder of a pull than just "gently" to remove... it was what I'd call an "almost scary I'll rip it" amount of force on the squeeze/pull for my pair.

For anyone else struggling, it definitely took more than a “gentle” tug for me. I had to exert an uncomfortably firm, but steady, amount of force to pull them off. They did not break or tear, however. I think steady is key. And the unrolling method in this video makes it a lot easier than the ridiculously basic steps on Apple’s site; the only detachment happening there is Apple, from reality-the ear tips themselves stay firmly in place.

I definitely like the small ones exponentially more, when i used the default medium tips they kept falling off of my ear and these small ones are the perfect size, thanks for the help by the way!

The small ear tips feel best in my ears. More comfortable than the medium. Amazing what a difference the sizes make in terms of comfort!

You make this look so easy, but in reality it’s so blooming hard to take it off. It’s easy for you but, not for others.

This man has some incredible grip I couldn’t do it with my fingers they kept slipping every time I was only able to get it with tweezers

anyone else really only watch the video bc they thought their eatbud was going tp rip? The advise I give, pretend your trying to rip it and it will come out! YOU NEED TO PULL VERY HARD!!!

Thank you for the clear demonstration and instruction. Small worked best for me. I was terrified of tearing or ripping the tip while removing the medium tip that it came with, so it was a relief to see how it was done. I also had to tug a little more than gently, and sort of squeezed where the little notches where located as I pulled.

Thanks for the great instructions. Per your request, I switched from medium to small. Small is a far better fit for me.

Thank you so much for this! I was terrified to change these but desperately needed to. The medium tip fit okay in my ear without a daith piercing but I need the small for my ear with the daith ring. The bud kept falling out during workouts and when I spoke. I switched both to the small size and it’s much better!

Strangely enough I use the smalls. In general I am not really a small guy, but the mediums keep slowly pushing out of my ears. I did the “fit test” on both medium and small and both were good. I am glad I played around with the sizes as not only do the smalls stay in place, they also feel “lighter” in my ears. (The medium put some pressure on my ears making it noticeable that I had headphones in).

Great quick how-to! They are Oval! I've had these just a few days and my left outer ear is hurting/sore with the default Medium. I'm switching to Small which definitely fits easier. Still not passing the Ear Tip Fit Test, unless I push them in during the test. Maybe the Medium tip just needs to adjust/form to my ear canal? Funny that Apple doesn't get a quick overview like you -- very important info for these!

From factory they came with medium but left pod kept dropping off. I changed them to large and it worked like a charm. Thank you for the clear demonstration.

just bought them recently and only the right one was popping out. i have a medium on the left and a small and the right and it works great now!

Reading the comments, in addition to the video, was super helpful. Another thing that helped me a lot was pulling the extra tips off the container/plastic sheet they come attached to. It gave me a better feel for the amount of tug needed, and the direction to pull, when exchanging the tips on the earbuds.

I’m glad this video exists because I accidentally ripped the plastic ear tip away from the hard connecting piece and was wondering why I couldn’t get the new ear tips on, you really helped me

Thank you for the quick and straight-to-the point demonstration on how to do this, all while keeping your fingers out of the way of what it is we need to be seeing, which is all too common in RU-vid videos. As others had mentioned, yes, it's more than just a gentle pull. For me, I would describe it as firm, slow, and strong. And a reminder: unroll them, and GRIP AND PULL FROM THE BASE. Someone commented that they ripped theirs apart; I'm guessing they were pulling from the wrong end. Might I also add for anyone else that is having trouble with using the Press Controls to Play, Pause, Skip Forward or Skip Back, I found a fix not on the AirPods themselves, but on my iPhone. At first I thought they were defective; happy to know it was just a small adjustment needed. Here's what I did: 1. Go to "Settings," 2. Then to "Accessibility" 3. Then to "AirPods" 4. Then to "Press and Hold Duration" section I tried all three options options, (Default, Shorter, and Shortest) I settled on on "Shortest." That seemed to be the right speed for the way I press the AirPods. Obviously, you might find another setting that better suits you. I did experiment with the "Press Speed" choices (Default, Slower, and Slowest), but they didn't seem to have any effect on the way I was using them; perhaps it will be different for you. Couldn't be happier with them so far; I am absolutely AMAZED by the noise cancellation quality, unlike anything else I've ever used in the past. I just ordered an aftermarket ear loop specifically for AirPods Pro on Amazon, because I know otherwise that these things are going to fall out of my ears and I'm going to lose them.

Excellent demonstration. So glad I watched; I would have broken SOMETHING! Like the comment from Brian Miller, it felt like I was about to rip the soft rubber. Since you asked to report which size works best, i used Apple's "Ear tip fit test". Amazing! Ended up with medium in left ear; large in right! Our bodies are distinctly asymmetrical.

small without a doubt is best for me. I struggled with the mediums for a year. The mediums kept falling out while doing anything active or non active. Made the change today.Whew.

goattt. i was cleaning the inside of mine w a qtip and it ripped and hasn't been sitting comfortably. now the large ones are in and actually feel better anyways. i was trying to pull of the already ripped one and it ripped as soon as i pulled it tho so i had to use tweezers and ply the bottom clipping part off

Funny thing about my ears is that only the right one used to drop from my ear because it was too big. The left one is perfect as medium. Now they are perfectly balanced😎

OMG!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! The medium size just wouldn't stay seated & was mortified I would lose one or both! Following your video step by step I easily replaced my medium tips to the small tips and they fit so much better. Success!!!!

Medium on the right side just kept falling out of my ear...Switched to large and hey presto - its now as snug as a bug 😉
