I remember buying the first AirPods in the first month, and for 6months I wore them everywhere. People would look at me thinking what’s wrong with my ears. 5 years later - I see them everywhere in Melbourne and now wired earphones feel like retro tech

AirPods Pro still going strong there’s one purchase I didn’t regret for a second

I really appreciate your videos. Calm, knowledgeable, completely honest talk about exciting new stuff.

I just received my AirPods 3. They are a welcome improvement in the sound quality over the AirPods 2. The sound quality of the AirPods 3 is in line with that of the AirPods Pro. The main reason I upgraded was for the improved sound quality and spatial audio. I like AirPods Pro for use at the gym or whereever I need noise cancellation. The AirPods Pro though are not comfortable to me for long periods, I think because they create too much of a seal. The AirPods 3 now give me the sound quality I’ve come to enjoy with the AirPods Pro while also providing the comfort of the AirPods 2 for long duration listening,

I LOVE the lose fit of the 2nd Gen - makes them the best earphone for phone calls and video conferences, for hours and hours. They suck at playing music, but there are so many other possibilities that I don‘t really mind.

I've owned my Air Pods 2nd generation for two years and love them. I use them most to here the screen reader on mainly my iPhone, as I'm partially blind. Needless to say they've seen some very heavy use. While they still work ok, the batteries are starting to go, and they took an unintended swim one recent morning. I decided then that I'd better line up their replacements. Just as before, I chose the regular current offerings over the Pros for a couple reasons. 1: Being partially blind, my hearing is very important to me, and I like to have the option to hear the environment. I'm ok with ANC for over-the-ear when gaming or watching a movie, but not for everyday phone use. 2: I have small ear canals, prone to wax and ear infections. I'm not a fan of silicon tips, as I feel they just push any gunk up my ear canals. They're also just not comfortable, and I hate when they pop off. 3: A new reason, I got my new 3s majorly on sale, $40 off, plus a $25 gift card I had, so I got them for less than $125 after tax! I'm thrilled with them so far! I'm glad I bought them before my 2s fail me, because they're still an excellent backup/nighttime pair, even if the sound is not as good. With synthesized speech, that doesn't matter quite as much.

Magsafe also works on airpods pro with an updated case. Obviously you won't buy a new pair just for magsafe magnets but if you are planning on getting a pair it's nice to know that they have it now

My reason for choosing non silicone tip earbuds is that I like to be able listen what’s happening around me or leave them in my ears and forget about them. Other than that I prefer ANC when I’m out

Just testing my new 3D gen AirPods with your video. Fit is good enough to not fall out of my ears, and sound is close enough to my Pros with a better clarity, making these the most balanced sounding AirPods yet. I am happy to not having to stuff anything into my ears anymore, comparing the feel of the 3s with the Pros side by side, I am happy to dump my Pros for that light sense on nothing, while containing most of the sound.

Something that needs to addressed is the adaptive EQ. I remember with the old AirPods and even EarPods, as they get loose over time, the sound changes, the bass gets lost, so I have to push them in. With these, they adapt to that, so they sound consistent. You can hear how it changes by putting the AirPods 3 loose in your ears, then quickly pushing them in. You’ll hear extra low frequencies for a quick moment, then it adjusts. And the opposite way, quickly loosen them and you’ll lose all bass, like the old AirPods. But they adjust and make it sound better. I really like this about the AirPods, and I think it’s something people forget about or don’t realize the benefits of

Great video! This is prob the best review I’ve seen, while I do agree I still miss the bass levels. And maybe that’s because the Gen2 fit so snug. These are a little bigger. However some tracks I have heard ouch really hard and really crisp. I had to return mine actually as the left driver was blown. Apple replaced without any issue at all

It's an absolute smash hit product for me. The convenience factor can't be oversold. Used my gen 1s into the ground to the point where the battery life was noticeably limiting, so this gen 3 came at a perfect time for an upgrade.

Great review Quinn, always enjoy your talking points and made me glad for deciding to hold off on getting these until they go on sale.

Honestly, I prefer the Airpods 3 most of the time - I can eat without hearing myself chewing, I can hear properly myself talk on calls, I don't have to use pass-thru (which for some reason is massively over-bright) to listen for the doorbell, and they're great to listen to podcasts while playing video games - I can hear the non-cranked surround and the podcast. BUT - I also have times that I actually want to block noise - lawn care, anything with loud running water, over-riding boring music at the skating rink... these use cases REALLY require the Pros. So yeah, I got the 3's with the intention of deciding to keep them or the Pros... and ended up keeping both.

I use AirPods 3 a lot at home, even though I have the pros. This is mostly due to the fact that I don't love having canal buds stufffed in my ear for long periods of time, and I appreciate the ability to hear some of my surroundings through them. When I'm traveling, I either want to be extra-conscious of my surroundings or I don't want to hear them at all, so I use the pros and flip between ANC and transparency (with custom accommodations set up.) The AirPods 3 actually sound almost as good as the pros to me, so I don't find the listening experience to be worse. If I had to pick just one, I'd probably go with the pros; but so many people watching this are probably tech collectors like me, so this is something to consider.

I really liked you review and it had much value! I would say that there are those of us out there who do not like wireless ear tips in our ears - I’m one of them. Also, some like to still be aware of sound around them, of which noise cancellation would eliminate. And, some of us find a more relaxed fit from and earbud setting in our ear instead of our earlobe and partially in the canal. I just purchased the AirPods 3 - found a way to get a brand new set at $125. Been testing them, walking with them, moving my head around to see if they’ll loosen. I totally love the sound, but I also have always benefitted from the secure fit in the 1st generation version. Well, I’m getting used to it and I’m truly into the sound. I never use buds like this for workout, so the AirPods three are seemingly gonna be perfect for me at this point. Thank you for a great review!

I got mine yesterday and i think they are excellent. Great audio and i love the spatial audio. Really love them.

I enjoyed the 1st Gen AirPods until they were stolen. They were so comfortable I often forgot they were in my ears. Best of all, I could fall asleep with them in my ears while listening to a podcast or the sounds of rain and waves. I know you don’t recommend these but this video just convinced me to purchase the Gen 3 AIRPODS! 😀

I wish iPhones had DTX X. My LG V40 has that, and I almost always have it on. It makes things sound a bit more crisp and gives any headphones a better soundstage. I never thought I'd use or appreciate something like that in the way I do now. I listen to music to have fun, and sometimes the original stereo mixes (as the artist intended) isn't the most fun way to listen. I say this as someone who would be "audiophile" if it didn't come with the stereotypes it does.

I've always stuck with non pro airpods because I've never had a pair or tipped headphones that didn't drive me crazy after 15 minutes of use. So i'm very glad to see a non tipped airpod update :)

I love my AirPod 3s. I have a single AirPod in my ear throughout a good chunk of the day for Zoom calls, RU-vid videos, podcasts etc. I don’t want a seal or ANC so the Pros were not for me. These are exactly what I wanted. All the features of the Pros (button on the stems, better in-ear detection, spatial audio, better Find My, and way better battery life) without the tips and ANC. The fact that the Pros can be had for only $20 more kinda stings, but these are what I want/need.

What do you think of the Spatialize Stereo feature in iOS 15? For music the head tracking is more of a gimmick, but when fixed it does add a bit of soundstaging to stereo tracks.

I just bought these, my first ever AirPods, not used them much but I noticed then breaking up a bit when connected to my M1 iMac. Also is there any way to adjust the audio?

So I had the second gen AirPods and they fit my ears absolutely perfectly but after years of use they broke so I upgrade to the Sennheiser momentum II sounds great but fall out of my ears all the time and the I have very tiny earholes any earwax on them they slip out. So should I get these or just stay with my sennheiser.

Don’t like silicone earbuds and don’t care about ANC. I think the AirPod’s 3 is perfect.

I'm a film editor and I can tell you that spatial audio virtualization on Apple TV is very very good. So good that I've been noticing that I prefer using it than my surround system, and it's all due to head tracking, the way the LCR are so well presented, it has already tricked several times into believing my Kefs Ls50 were on on surround. Very good imagining. Atmos for music tho' feels like a gimmick but who cares if there are tons tons of surround mixed films on almost all streaming platforms.

I bought them and I'm torn between liking them and disliking them. The Gen 2 fit really well and the Gen 3 hurt my hearts after a while and I keep fiddling with the fit. Unfortunately I've tried different other buds and they all have fit problems -- maybe my ear shape is weird but I'll live with the Gen 3 for now

My old airpods just stopped working yesterday, guess its time to upgrade. Im glad apple kept one pair without rubber tips. Can't use the pros because of this

I have exatcly both of the problems of the Airpods pro. They fall out because of the silicone tips and I get lightheaded and dizzy from the noise cancellation. So I got the airpods 3 (Upgraded from gen1) and love them, the fit is great for my ears.

Thanks for an honest review. Would like hear how you feel about the EarPod Pro 2. Good sound with noise cancellation is a must for me. I also use BOSE QuietComfort and Soundcore X10 earbuds. Both of which I feel have better sound, but I prefer the noise cancellation and ease of use that the EarPod Pro has.

Love these better than my PROS which fall out all the time at the gym. I’ve tried all the inserts and not a fan of anything in my ear canal

Hey Quinn, great video. Just wanted to ask if your audio is meant to sound as echoey as it is? It’s a little distracting to my ears. Maybe if it’s a shotgun mic it could be positioned closer to you? Idk just my observation. But otherwise a really outstanding review.

Copped a pair of pros and they could not stay in my ear despite which tips I used. I opted for the 3’s and despite the missing features they stay in my ears and sound great.

I am really impressed by Apple's spatial audio. I watched the new 3D Netflix He-Man cartoon on my iPad and I *swear* that I'd accidentally left the iPad's speakers on instead of using my AirPod Pros. The head tracking really sold the illusion, convincing my ears that the sound was being emitted from the iPad itself. And to be clear, this was an iPad Pro. So being comparable to the build-in speakers is quite impressive!

I want the tap feature. It’s so much more easier to quickly double tap your ear, you also don’t have to precise with grabbing the stem. I also like the open-ness of the non pros, because you can hear your surrounding and people greeting you without the need to pause the music. Guess I’ll be stock piling airpod 2 whenever they drop to $100

Really want to know if these are nearly perfectly waterproof like the Airpods 1 and 2 have been. I wear mind in the shower, in the pool, and have washed them, and the case, but they've never had a problem.

I bought the pros for their noise cancellation which I need at work but had to return them because they don't fit well in my ears, and the air pods 3 fit very well, I go to the gym and use them at work painlessly. I miss the noise cancellation feature but I can enjoy the sound qulity of the 3.

If you only want a headphones that has best audio possible and you won't listen on the go, does it make sense to get standard AirPods if you gonna focus to spend on only one best sound AirPods Max headphone? Do they sound close tho, if yes then not make sense to spend more on bigger AirPods Max right?

You summed up my thoughts perfectly at the end. I just don't see a reason to get the 3s over the Pro unless you hate silicon tips or ANC. Maybe if the extra hour of battery life appeals to you, but I think the battery life would have needed a bigger boost to make these more of a recommend over the Pro.

After going from 1st gen to 3rd I’m not a fan of the fit on these also feel like a lot of bass is gone. Maybe just me.

I agree with him about the convertibility. My ears don’t catch any fatigue or soreness from wearing these. They’re also not inside of my ear canal like the pro’s.

Hey, I just bought the AirPods Gen 3. Love them. I had the gen 2 before but I misplaced them. I didn’t go for the pro because of the silicone tip. They tire me out. Also I don’t need noise cancelling headphones. And noise cancelling does make me a bit sick. Hope the batteries are good.

I want to be able to use the AirPod 3’s with my pc for day to day zoom and TEAMS calls, so not looking for ANC or something that will drive deep into my ear and most of all something comfortable which I can wear for hours on end but still deliver great sound for music and my favorite shows???
