@@josieclarke460 There are always people that have issues and others dont. Some have them been going for 3 years, some 6 months. Same goes for Sony, Bose or any tech product.
I think the biggest problem is also that they don't put a noise-cancelling mic which means you are in a call in environment the mic focuses to the outside noise and the person on the call can't hear properly
I’ve had mine since day 1, and I used it a ton! However, I think the headband is just fine. I don’t feel any discomfort or anything. I can’t wait for the AirPods Max 2 to come out though!
I suspect the headband issue that’s described has to do with how you wear the headset. It seems like you wear the headset more pressed against your head than i do. I also have had them since launch, and always wore the headset with the top barely touching the top of my head. As a result, it wears just as it did on day 1. Just my 2¢
6 months old - repaired twice already, they are terrible. If they worked they would be great - but so many problems, they are a nightmare. I'll stick with my Sony XM5s all day long.
Mine just broke down for no reason at all can't connect to anything. Tried reseting nothing, tried charging an so on still nothing. Tried cleaning headband connections nothing. Lasted good 3 years thats it 😢
Totally agree with Sam on this. There are so many things on AirPods Max that don’t make sense, but some things that are great. It’s almost like apple took their hands off a wheel of a ship, and came back a little later to find a different ship.
I didn’t pay attention to my headband until you mentioned it. I have the same issue, however it didn’t make my head hurt. I was just on a flight to and from was about 3 hours and it still feels comfy like it did day 1. I also have very short hair. 😊
I dunno why everyone makes a thing of the dual H1 chips - ALL Airpods have dual chips, one per ear, this one is just slightly different in having a headband connecting the two sides
Here after buying the AirPod max and getting the worst headache of my life, then I had excessive itchiness 😬 and I could actually hear myself IN ANY MODE while walking around wearing them. Even in transparency mode. It was terrible!!!
Oh man. I was literally looking at the AirPod mesh earlier this week. It's totally lost all support. It's funny that we are noticing the failure in about the same time frame.
The issue isn’t the head band it’s the ear cups get insanely skunky. You clean them as instructed and they’re skunky again in a week. It’s too much maintenance
Even with the negative feedback about the headband and the cable, I still have to roll my eyes when I hear praise for the audio. Is the audio experience great, yes, duh? But for the cost the volume is still hella lacking - is this not part of the audio experience? These headphones could use a few more notches in volume.
I don't find any problems with Airpods Max usage what you mentioned. I use airpods max since 2 years, mostly all day & never experienced any of these problems.
I would never understand why anyone would buy these over Sony XM4 or even the latest ones which are selling at almost 1/3 the price and sound wayyy better
I have tried them , and at the same time the B&o H95 the result was mind-blowing. The sound in the AirPod Max are great , but sorry to say the sound in the B&o H95 is absolutely fantastic and unbeatable. Never heard such a detailed sound in any levels, absolutely insane quality, AirPod Max are blushing in the wind
The comments about condensation- do you think the same doesn’t happen in other headphones? Only difference is Apple let you remove the cups. There’s headphones that use leather ear cups..don’t really believe there’s no heat building and causing condensation behind those?
The only Apple product I’ve ever returned. Just too heavy. I’m glad I didn’t persevere given the other issues I’ve heard about them. Form over function
Yes it’s terrible that there are made this way however Apple has been extremely courteous with me when I’ve had issue. They have shipped my AirPods out and replaced them at no charge to me. If your having a problem I recommend going to Apple !
Okay okay. I’ve been using mint mobile for almost 3 months and I am a SIMP. If anyone is thinking of switching, do. It. I came over from Verizon where I was getting awful speeds everywhere in my state. My coverage was great, but my internet speeds whether 4G or 5G were awful, and I never got mmWave speeds. I switched to mint and immediately my speeds were incredible, and using the field test mode as mint doesn’t show mmWave badges next to 5G, I can see that I get consistent mmWave connection and my speed tests and personal anecdotal experience support that. I have the highest data plan and it’s more the my Verizon unlimited was, and I went from $130/month to 30. The option of buying a year at a time is amazing. Mint is absolutely fantastic. My boyfriend has real T-mobile and our experience is indiscernible.
Mine are peeling, stretched out, and disconnect constantly. So disappointing, almost $600 for headphones, and they’re pretty much trash two years later. So f-ing disappointing!
Less than 1yr old and mine had to get sent into apple for repair, cuz they wouldn’t charge passed 70% no matter how long left plugged in and wouldn’t show charge level on battery widgets on the connected computer, iPhone or iPad
Yup. I’ve had so much buyer’s remorse with these. They sound great and their transparency mode is top class. But they’re doomed to break down within 2-3 years. There are simple changes Apple could make to vastly improve them Make it so I can use them as normal headphones when the battery is dead, so that they don’t become e-waste when the non-replaceable battery dies. Make the earcups out of plastic, not aluminum, so they don’t dent and void warranty. Make ear cushions and headbands that are cheap to replace. No more than $30 max. If that’s not feasible, just make durable ear cushions and headbands. Headphones can last for decades, don’t reinvent the wheel and just make a quality product. Fix the moisture/corrosion issues that have been plaguing these headphones. And for Goodness’ sake, switch to USB-C, and let me use the USB-C charging cable that comes in the box to plug into my laptop or whatever and listen to music wired while charging. Oh, and add a 3.5mm headphone jack
The best speakers I have ever heard are old school studio Sennheisers that have awesome sound. Sennheiser has a wireless version for around $300 that I have not tried.
I’m so thankful I returned mine I loved the profile on the sides of these but just plane hated the weight, headband , no water resistance , no power button , stupid case. Just no
I literally had to switch to my WXM4 & connect them to my TV because I use Bluetooth noise canceling headphones for my TV & overtime. I started realizing that my pair of AirPods maxes that I got back in 2022 were starting to feel a little uncomfortable where all I could feel was the metal headband
I’ve said this before… so one more time, everyone. Please stop buying tech items that touch your body in white. I love the Apple bright white color, but I don’t buy it… EVER, and this is exactly why. Buy for longevity, and that means darker colors.
I bought AirPods Max when they first came out, I didn’t buy AppleCare, a similar issue happened to me and I got them replaced. Apple might replace those for you. Have you tried asking? That would technically be considered a design defect and part of Apple‘s quality program which means it would be replaced. I hope this helps. Have a great day.
Agree with your point. I have been demoing the Max…and in some stores where the headphones are a bit older, they actually hurt my head as the mesh worn, and actually rest on my head. No issues with newer headphones. But I am not sure I agree that Apple originally planned for the headphones to be modular. Apple has never made anything modular. Ever. You cannot even upgrade the RAM so your MacBook. I doubt they intended for you to be able to upgrade the AirPods Max…
It’s the carrying case and price for me. I’d buy them in a heart beat if they were $300-350. They’re extremely uncompetitive for their price and don’t have the best sound quality. Not to mention the issue you mentioned on build quality.
Iv been using them since they came out, the headband issue is real on every airpods max but that is not even the worst. My first airpods max died a few months after the warranty expired . Completely dead . They were kind so they repaired for free with no warranty ( they gave me a new because it was totaly dead. ) . But i think they issue was the condensation water getting into the earcups. If you place the cold metal housing on your warm head water droplets will appear on the inside and since it does not have any IP rating i think it slowly kills the headset.
@@poti732 it has no ip rating?thats news to me😳 Smth costing that much these days without being able to survive under a lil bit of water/sweat is a crime
@@back_lukmaa i meannn iv used them in light rain , nothing happened but if the condensation water appears because of the temrature difference between your head the the metal housing ( it will appear ) that will get in into the earcups because it appears the earcushins and the metal part of the headphone . You can hear it that it messes with the sound so im 100% sure that it does no good for the headphones and as iv stated eariler one airpods max that i had died , not sure that this was the reason.. but it i think it could have been.
I returned mine after 2 weeks. Mine would have the condensation issue. Where the ear cups would sweat after listening for around 30min while in a car ride(not even working out). After an hour or two. I started to feel the weight on them. Having to pay extra on an actual case for $500+ headphones. Hopefully they release a newer version. For a budget friendly version that’s plastic
Not sure if this would work, but have you tried taking a hair dryer and seeing if it would shrink it up a little bit if it has any plastic or rubber qualities, it should shrink just fine. I don’t have one, so I couldn’t test it on it and I hear it’s cloth but who knows if it’s some sort of synthetic it may shrink and be tight again.
The weight is not an issue for me since I only use them in the house. The case is cringe. My issue is the connection issues that never happened until 1.5 years in. At least three times a week I have to restart them by holding the two buttons for about 10 seconds until an amber light flashes because they will not detect my head and turn on. It isn't very pleasant.
Same with my Max. First this issue with the headband then the ear cushion literally break apart into pieces, it's glue lost adhesion. Now whenever I turn on the transparency and the active noise cancellation it has this static sound. I can't really use anymore, the price of this thing is not really worth it. It's not really durable and I'm not going to buy another Apple headphones in the future after this kind of experience. It's just an expensive failure. 👎🏼
I had AirPods Max and I sold them after a few months of usage because the material in the earcups that touched my skin is very coarse and gave me a serious itch. Now I have Sony WH-1000XM5.
I bought mine about 2 years ago. I used it very little during that time. Yet I had exactly the same problem! Apple should fix this design flaw for free.
I have a pair of white ones. I've had them since launch day. I wear them 2+ hours per day. My mesh is as bouncy as the day I bought them! Maybe if you brought them to the Genius Bar 😂they might be able to do something for you. I brought in a pair of 2 year old Airpods pro and they replaced them for free because they had a known issue.
I switched back to my Bose qc 35s. sound quality is awesome, very comfortable and much lighter. Also noise canceling is better, in my opinion, than apple.
I knew this would be an issue from the beginning. „Thankfully“ my AirPods Max broke after 1.5 years and I was given a new pair. Although after 1.5 years I noticed the mesh not really supporting the weight anymore. Also the AirPods Max are one of the very view wireless headphones in that price range. And contrary to what most people think they are not overpriced for what they sound like. The overall sound and stereo field and comport (ignoring the headband) as portable makes me look over the downsides. Again, if there would be proper alternative I would maybe get different ones but there aren’t any.
I stopped using them bc they were the most uncomfortable headphones I had , my headband is unusable as urs, its yellow , and my ears are just sweating really fast , also they slipping from my head. All in all I regret buying them
bro I have to craziest problems with the Maxx.. I don't wanna buy new ones because im waiting for a new generation but it takes forever! I usually don't write comments on the internet but im so mad at apple!
I was so excited to get these and wish I never did. It hurts my head after just an hour. My studio beats were better. I’ve thought about selling them and buying the beats again but I got these as a present from my wife. Also they are so heavy that when you workout with them. Any movement outside of straight up and down….. and they fall off. So disappointed
Never noticed I don’t think the band touches my head but it’s definitely gross colour and saggy. I came here as people say they wear them around the neck but they chock me.
Idk if there are wires running through the headband but if not they could of made them so you could just pop the headphone part and put it on a new headband
I have these too. They advertised it as being a modular 'forever' product, with ear pads that you can replace for instance. The band yellowed on me too. And when the connection died and I had to get them serviced, they couldn't just replace the part. They needed to replace THE ENTIRE SET. So buyer beware. The build quality is poor AND these headphones aren't nearly as modular as you'd expect. Break anything and you'll need to replace the entire set.
