I just bought my first pair of AirPods Pro 2 and love them compared to my old Micky Mouse BT headphones and inexpensive BT head phones neither of which had Noise Canceling, which I love so far. My picky friend said the phone quality is excellent as well and he throws compliments around like man hole covers. Good review and I learned a lot.

Got these on Saturday.. noise cancellation upgrade from my Pro 1 is noticeable. Used on the train for commute today and they did a fantastic job with train and other passenger noise. Sound is really opening up after a couple of days use and it’s a fuller more balanced sound supported by good levels of base.. I tried it out on Hans Zimmers Dune soundtrack and it was really good.

Thanks for the review, Mark. I fully agree with you on the improvement in sound. I have the 1st gen Airpods Pro since release and was satisfied with them for almost a year. Mostly listened to podcast, audiobooks and audioplays and had phone calls or WebEx meetings with them. They were fine for me ... unless I dared to buy different TWS and tried listening to music on them. The Oppo Enco X, mentioned by you, beat the Airpods Pro first gen in sound quality. More bass, better heights and mids. Than I started to buy more and more TWS from different manufactures, including 1More, Soundcore, EarFun and Edifier - even TWS like the Nothing Ear (1) or the Pixel Buds A sounded much better than the AirPods Pro 1st gen and I couldn't figure out, why there were so many enthusiasts for the AirPods Pro. Now, the AirPods pro 2nd gen seems to have a similar "issue". There a people who say there is no or just a slight difference and others that say there is a way better sound quality then on the first gen. I just got mine today and I am impressed. As you said in your review: More bass, more space, crisp heights. Than might bring me to a conclusion that Apple's AirPods Pro 1st gen are not all the same. Maybe there were some batches that had issues and no one talked about them? Maybe all who state the first gen sounds superb and they hear no difference to the second gen have gotten a good batch of the first gen while all who are complaing about bad sound on the first gen did get a bad batch? I don't know. Just an assumption. I am glad, I upgraded. In the meantime I collected a nice little arsenal of around 28 different TWS, but I am sure the new AirPods Pro will be the ones I will listen to mostly (besides to the 1More EVO, the Edifier Neo Buds Pro, the Lypertek PurePlay Z5 and the Soundcore Space A40 ... oh my, there are a lot more that I really, really like - and I have just two ears ...) :-)

I’m finally upgrading from my gen 2 AirPods. I don’t generally like in-ear silicone tips but with reviews like yours and Max Tech’s saying the uncomfortable seal is just non existent, I’m finally pulling the trigger on a product I think will be so good and future proof for their entire lifespan.

Be interesting to see you compare sound quality and noise cancellation between AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Max. I have the AirPods Pro 1 and use these for listening to podcasts and RU-vid and the Max for phone calls (due to better transparency mode and other upgrades you cover) and music/movie consumption. Could it be that Pro 2 are all someone would need or am I comparing apples with oranges?

The most surprising thing to me is they changed the shape of them. The original AirPods Pro would fall out my ears running while sweating or laying on a bench. These are more rounded and larger at the bottom to hold in my ears. These fit sooo much better! They literally slot in and point the right way way different than my Pros. Plus they sound incredible at the Apple store I bought them immediately.

@@chronictown4330 yes! The weight is distributed differently where it’s balancing in my ear instead of being top heavy. I went for a workout today and had zero problem at all 🤯. No one is talking about this

I’m totally in love with my AirPods Pro 2. The smaller tips make them fit my ears much better than before (previously, they would always slip out of my ears). Apple’s website says that the ear tips for the gen 2 aren’t compatible with the gen 1, but my new ear tips fit my old Pros just fine. I think maybe Apple just doesn’t want people buying the extra small tips for the old ones instead of buying the new Pros. But they shouldn’t worry; I think the new Pros sound noticeably better than the originals and are worth the upgrade. I think the feature that I am most in love with is the new volume controls.

When I tried these next to my AirPods Pro 1, it was night and day. They sound so much better. I have a small issue with the Adaptive noise cancellation where it lets through external singing thinking it’s chat. I’m sure it will get smarter at detecting real chat from a radio or other music over time though. What would be next level is if it used the bionic processor on iPhone to learn & recognise external sounds and then let you pick and choose which sounds you want to hear.

I totally agree, I ordered the AirPods Pro 2 just to try them out and I was pleasantly surprised at the improvements. With my original AirPods Pro, I had stopped using them in favor of the Beats Fit Pro, but they cause ear fatigue relatively quickly. Though they look the same, I’m able to get a better fit and seal with the AirPods Pro 2, even with the same size ear tips. I’m not sure why, but it’s a welcome change 😊

I thought the same 😂 on my first gen AirPods Pro’s I used the small ear tip, and with the 2nd gen I also use the same size but they feel like they fit much better, even though their physical shape and size hasn’t seemed to change at all

I totally agree I couldn’t believe it! I could never wear the original AirPods Pro they hurt my ears. On a fluke I ordered AirPods Pro 2 just to try them out and I can’t believe how comfortable they are versus the originals and I am wearing the same size ear tips plus the sound quality is quite a bit better to me

The new AirPods Pro 2 sound incredible. Every component of it sounds great. The spatial audio. The adaptive equalizer. Even spatialize stereo makes songs so lively. But most importantly, they’ve got a great quality DAC/AMP and driver design. Incredible quality for the comfort and size.

7:05 That “pressure” build up in the ear canal was the first thing I noticed about the noise canceling mode on my new Gen 2 air pods pro. I definitely like these over my Gen 1 pros but the pressure is something I’m going to have to get accustomed to. Besides that, they are great earphones.

Mark, if you were in a position where you had the original AirPods Pro, and a nice pair of headphones for your desk, but were looking for something noise canceling primarily for around the house/general use, as well as for planes, what would you pick, AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods Max? For reference, I recently got the Bose QC45s on a deal, but have been a bit disappointed by their comfort (though that seems to be slowly getting better) and connectivity, as audio cuts in and out when they connect to more than one device, which unfortunately is automatic.

One year ago, I left my airpods pro in my sports trousers and put them in the washing machine. Not only have they survived the complete sport washing program, they are still performing well! I wouldn‘t recommend doing that, of course, but they are still awesome!

Got mine on Friday.Unfortunately have had issues with them all weekend.They keep randomly disconnecting when listening to music and more so when watching RU-vid videos,even with the iPhone close by.Have seen a post on MacRumours forums that lots of other users are experiencing the same thing so hopefully it’s only software/firmware related and can be fixed with an update.Have made an appointment at the Genius Bar tomorrow to get the hardware checked out.They’ve disconnected whilst watching this video! Super annoying.

Hi, thanks for the review. One other reviewer talks of tunnelling being improved or when walking/running that thudding noise in your ear is now gone or significantly reduced. I wonder as a runner you would agree to this?

I wore out two pairs of regular AirPods so it was time to get a new pair when the Pro 2 arrived. I've never been a fan of: ANC, rubber tips. But I bit the bullet anyway and wow. I am so hooked. My daily commuter train is now a naturally noiseless environment where I can just enjoy my podcasts, the pressure thing you talked about is spot on, whenever I tried ANY sort of ANCs in the past I always got that feeling. The fit of the rubber tips after changing them around and testing is great. I have a pair of Beats that are fine I guess but have a habit of wiggling out of my ears after 15 or 20 minutes. There's none of that with the Pro 2's. They feel fit and snug as you put them in and then they sort of disappear...? I hesitate to call the feeling magical but yeah. My verdict is that they are expensive but very much worthwhile. And I haven't even gotten around to: listening to music, test them with the Apple TV. I suspect See season 3 will sound amazing though!

I was really surprised at the sound quality difference. I was always extremely unhappy with the sound quality of the first generation as music always sounded very flat and you had to increase the volume half way to get any proper sound, with these there's more punch to the music and it requires half the volume for the same sound. It almost sounds like you're using premium earbuds with AptX support as it takes the audio to a new level. Thr volume control is also a major reason to upgrade. I sold my first gen that I had for only 7 months to Cex and lost only 60 pounds so it's worth upgrading if you can sell on your AirPods Pro 1st green and recoup some of the money.

Transparency mode on these new ones are a HUGE step forward and music quality is noticeably better. I couldn't tell much of a difference with noise cancellation until I started listening to music and in a loud gym, with the old ones, I can still hear the plates clanking and stuff but with the new ones, I can't hear ANYTHING outside of the music. What I really hope they fixed is the internal mic failure that the first gen units suffered from. Any moderate to hard impacts would damage the internal mic resulting in a scratchy sound every time you take a step. Apple replaced 3 of mine even once the warranty expired, all 3 were the left ear bud.

So I purchased AirPods Pro 2 on Saturday and I notice when I use the air hose at work I hear a static / crackling sound when it changes to noise cancellation it’s annoying. I unpaired it a few times and checked the firmware. The firmware is up to date. I put on my AirPods Pro 1 generation and I have no issues.

When it is totally silent and you put noise cancelling on, do you also hear a sort of wind noise? It Is really minimum but without music on you can hear it.

Great vid! Two quick comments: The tips are claimed by Apple to not be compatible (probably for warranty issues) but they do in fact fit the previous gen just fine. Also, the x-small tips are a life saver for me and many others. With the previous gen often times when I’d smile, talk a lot or chew, my ears woulds squeeze at the tips to the point of pushing the buds out, so they were barely usable. IJustine mentioned the same thing, she had some trouble with the previous gen fit, the the x-small tips let her wear them just fine now.

I've upgraded to the AirPods Pro from the OG AirPods since their battery couldn't last my usual hiking anymore. I must say wow, the audio quality is incredible tbf. They might even make me want to retire my Sony 1000xm3's

The airpods 1 tips do work with 2nd gen but the mesh is slightly less dense. Apple don’t recommend it if you want to optimise the hearing experience. I can’t believe that it makes much of a difference.

A big thing I’ve noticed with the 1st Gen AirPods Pro is that the transparency mode fails in windy conditions, or when riding a bike at a fast pace. The fast moving air kind of just cancels everything out. Can anyone tell me if this is improved on Gen 2?

They are great and everything but can someone else confirm if they have the same issue as I do. My Airpods Pro 2 and the case are constantly appearing on my iPhone 14 PM battery widget even when they are in the case.. I've reset them a few times but no change.. this doesn't seem to be an issue with my iPad tho.. could it be iOS 16?

Cool video mate, as I have the Air Pods Pro and in the Apple ecosystem I will probably pick up a pair sometime in the future but from Colorware in the USA and will probably get them in matt black. If you want better tips checkout Dekoni and Sedna Earfit Xelastec, I use both on my Air Pods Pro. Also try and checkout out the Noble Fokus TWS H-ANC it’s a hybrid two driver and also their passive noise cancelling TWS the Fokus Pro, that’s a hybrid three driver, two BA and one Dynamic from Noble Audio and tuned by the Wizard himself. Bot have set EQ and 10 band EQ to play around with. Via the App you can do a hearing test of the frequencies you can hear and it will adjust accordingly based on your results. I myself have the Fokus Pro.

I have the gen 1s and they worked really good but I decided to purchase the gen 2s and to me they are better sounding. Louder, and the bass is better to me. I also like the sound it makes when charging and that comes in handy.

A killer feature for me, since I have slight hearing loss, is the ability to do an autogram using the free MiMi app, the phone then uses the data to modify the sound profile of the Airpods to make listening to music more pleasurable and, using the transparency mode, turns them into hearing aids.

Wow, I had no idea such an app existed. You’re saying that it can take your hearing test results and implement adjustments to the sound output in iOS to make up for hearing loss? How does that work? Is there a partnership between apple and the app developer? I have worse hearing in my left ear compared to my right ear, so I’ve always been looking for a solution that can boost the sound of certain frequencies that are too low in my left ear. It’s not as simple as just adjusting the L/R balance to be louder in my left ear because only certain frequencies are lacking.

@@ryanw8664 hi yes, the app, mimi, measures your hearing and then the EQ is boosted in the phone/AirPods to boost the frequencies that are reduced by the hearing loss. The effect is quite amazing.

I've got a set, and although I think they're great, mine have this weird glitch that occasionally the two earphones get out of sync with each other on certain apps which is incredibly annoying. Hopefully it'll be fixed with a software upgrade 🤞

It doesn’t improve sound quality. They still take the same 256kbps AAC signal like always. Bluetooth 5.3 has a new codec but it’s not as high quality as AAC anyway.

Thanks for the review Mark. I’m having big issues with battery drain on the Pro 2s - getting nowhere near the claimed battery life. The AirPods appear to be draining a lot of power from the case constantly - even when fully charged. I don’t recall this happening from the gen 1s. I also rarely had to charged my Bose QC case. Maybe I’ve got a dodgy unit, but I’ve been very disappointed in them. Be interested to hear if you’ve had this issue?

I had original AirPods pro for a few days and returned them. I couldn't stand the silicone ear tips. None of the sizes fit my ear and they were super uncomfortable.

klipsch, sennheiser (both wired) and flare pro (wireless & wired) are all excellent for noise isolation in their original state - no software required for ANC since isolation itself is sufficient. the original airpods pro have never matched any of them in this regard so it’s an area that i do not focus on. what i really appreciate is the seamless connection with the rest of the eco system & convenience. interestingly the original wired airpods are my preferred choice for calls when at home - no battery issues & call clarity is better than the airpods. i stick to my airpods pro while in the office & commuting as it’s way more convenient but always carry my flare pro for just in case situations. i have heightened sensitivity in my ears & always wear earbuds outdoors to minimise noise. with the latest improvements on the airpods pro 2 (volume adjustment!) i’m very keen to see how they compare, & have also been thinking of a 2nd pair anyway for office use to make up for the short battery life of the originals.

I have a set of custom fit in-ears that isolate more than anything (about 30 dB). Still, these AirPods isolate much more in the bothersome low register. While my custom ones may isolate as much or more of the very high frequencies, they don't get rid of the rumble. With these AirPods it's all gone. Loving it 🙂

I listen to a lot of music that has sub-frequencies in it. Consequentially I'm quite demanding of speakers and headphones. I already have 1More Triple and Quad driver 'in-ear' buds and a pair of Sony over ear cans (not the ones you review, but the range below - they sound amazing) The Sony's claim to have a type of 360 degree audio - but it means buying music from Sony, on top of Apple Music, so that's not happening. The bass is very nice and they pick up and play all the low bass notes. Last time I tried Apple headphones was when they came with every iPhone free, had cables, and were appalling. How do these new ones deal with low frequencies? Any drum & bass fans out there that use these?

Wow just wow! Made the purchase yesterday and I just can’t get over the improvements especially to noise cancelling and transparency, far far more of an upgrade than I expected. Sound is better too although I’ll still turn to my trusty mx4 for proper music listening.

Using air pods pro 2 since last Friday and yes they nicer, however I don’t think that noise cancelling is that much better, also there is a TINY delay when I want to switch my song (headphones think I want to change volume I think), also don’t think they will last more than 4 hours as my old AirPods Pro 1st gen…

Great video. I've never had any AirPods. But, I might now. The transparency, noise cancelling and call quality improvements sound impressive. I use android and IOS devices so I like things that support aptx adaptive and LDAC. However, the AirPods Pro 2 look impressive. Apple music hires lossless and lossless audio and great, in ios and especially on my android LG v60 which has a quad dac and 3.5mm socket for wired use. Aptx lossless is starting to appear on devices so it would be great if Apple supports that or something similar. Lightning is an advantage for me as the family have lightning devices and there are cables dotted around. Also, there are 6 main categories of USB c cable and use the wrong one and things don't work as you might want. Lightning I've found easier to insert and more reliable.

100% right when you spoke on the pressure of the pro 1. with. the ANC. I referred to it as "sonic boom" type of feeling in the ears. I always stated that the airpod pros would be by far the best earbuds ever made if they just got at LEAST 6-7hours hours. I also own the the SONY WF2-1000xm4. Excellent battery life, great sound. I still prefer the look, sound and ANC of Airpod pro. Biggest con was the rapid battery decline after 4 months you would get 3 hours with ANC on. That got annoying. The Airpod Pro 2nd gen is now IMO the king. Who cares about the design, people are always tryin to show off, NO-ONE cares and they kept that design because a smaller stem would not be user friendly and probably looked odd. I personally am glad they did not go stemless. After you wear the pros for a while you realize how stupid and long the original Airpod stems look on you and how lousy they sound. Yes huge win. The spatial audio Is a fun underrated feature too. When you enable it and watch a video on your phone, it t makes you ask... how the hell did they do that? Facing the phone, you turn your head and it is like you'r turning your head on a tv and the sound shifts naturally to the other side. If you turn your back to your phone? You are convinced the audio is playing behind you. Apple is overpriced but their products work and especially the iMaC, Macbook Pro and iPad's literally LAST forever. Never got a virus On any MAC ever. These are what they should be. If you love the airpod pro this cleaned up any of the quirks. Good review bro, I agree totally.

Why are the ear tips not compatible? Because it’s a different type of rubber which is grippier inside your ear. So they don’t want to confuse the rubber. As opposed to confusing human being.

And if you use these from Windows, they sound absolutely amazing as well. It must be the new upgraded bluetooth which finally allows proper 48000hz audio.
