Oh, I didn't know this. Who is offering it at sale prices, and what is the discount? The place I purchased mine here in Canada is $10 more than what I bought it for in 2020 😒

@@FrugalRadio I ordered it as an upgrade from the RTL-SDR I'm presently utilizing. Hopefully it will be an easy replacement....SDR seems tricky on a MAC. Cheers

Strictly a sdrtrunk user here.. How does the airspy mini compare to a $30 rtl-sdr? 75 bucks is still a lot to spend on a sdr for me if there would be no improvement.

In SDRTrunk you can see a larger chunk of spectrum. So if the system you monitor has a spread between 2.4-4.8 MHz between the highest and lowest frequencies, the AirSpy Mini will be able to decode all, without skipping. This is really only useful if you are streaming your audio and don't want to miss any calls.

@@FrugalRadio Thanks for the quick reply! What are your thoughts on mini/r2+spyverter vs the RSP1a? It seems nice on paper that the rsp1a covers all ranges but I have read quite a few negative things about the software for it...Primarily linux user here but i have w10 as well.

Cubic SDR and SDR++ should work with the RSP1A under Linux, but I haven't tested this myself. I also have never used the Spyverter, so don't have any first hand experience to share I'm afraid. If HF is a primary consideration, I'd go with the HF+ Discovery, or possibly spend a little more for the RSPdx (I've heard good reports, but don't own one).

You can still get them at the Black Friday price in the UK. Just order from itead.cc. That's how I scored a couple of bargain units in the UK a couple of years ago.

I was wondering about an R3 myself. The R1 / 2 has been around for a while now.
