We just bought our very first Airstream (used 2023 International 28RBT) and did our shakedown trip about two weeks ago. We had to fill our fresh water tank because I guess the flow rate at the campground wasn't high enough for the hot water heater to kick on. Long story short, we discovered our water pump sputters quite a bit at certain faucets (bathroom sink is the worst). Been scouring the forums trying to find a solution to both the tankless hot water heater and the water pump so this video was just what I needed to see for the water pump. Thanks, as always, Brad. Thanks Brad, I had thought the pulsating noise meant my water pump was going bad. When running a faucet at a trickle it drives the pump crazy. Looks like a great upgrade!
Hey Brad, thank you for making this video and other maintenance or upgrade videos to the airstream. I reached out to IRVWPC about my issue, but I wanted to run my question by you. We have the 2023 27FCFTB with a Girard water heater. Our hot water demand in the shower is a problem because we lose fresh and hot water in our shower after coming off the shower pause. IRVWPC told me this pressure controller would help but not solve my issue. Do you have DIY solution to keep fresh & hot water on demand more efficiently?
Hi! Thanks for watching. There is a solution to this called a shower miser. Im going to install one on my rig soon and make a video but havent done it yet. This issue is with every on-demand water heater. We try to take short enough showers so we dont turn the water off or be prepared when it comes back on. Thanks for the video. Unrelated to your topics... do you pull the knifes off of your magnetic knife holder when moving the trailer? We just upgraded from a basecamp to a 23' and now we have a wall that I we can install something similar.
What does the controller do? I always thought pump noise was caused by vibration or the pipes hitting the surfaces. The controller is electric, so? BTW my pump is quiet, I have to listen for it.
It smooths out the pump motor. Basically, eliminating the pulsing that often happens. The water pipes are another noise that happens when air is in the lines. Our pump was quiet enough when the compartment was closed but this did make a big difference in sound and performance.
We noticed the biggest difference when the faucet is opened a trickle. The IRVWPC runs the pump at a variable speed vs. on/off. great product with excellent customer support.
