Enjoyed the video Brad ! Regarding air in the system, I recently sanitized my water system (2023 International 23FB twin) and when complete had air in the system. I hadn’t anticipated this, but remembered watching a short video on the Airstream Support site, regarding a noisy water pump and it being caused by air in the system. I followed the simple steps he outlined and this got my system operating correctly again. Another idea for removing air in the system. Safe travels !
That is a very good video and Ive done the same. Ive also recently recorded but yet to edit a way to quiet down the rattling shower water pipes. Thank you for watching and for your feedback.
@@ThirteenAdventures Joy K asked me if I was able to Link this video - I assume she means open and watch the video or maybe forward the video and see a link, that's probably what she meant..Couldn't figure out how to reply only to Joy K. Answer - yes, I could watch the video.
@@ThirteenAdventures Hey Brad-have you done a video on the Dometic refrigerators that run on power and LP? Our frig runs well on city power but does not want to start/run on LP.
First, Im sorry for my delayed response. Your last comment was in the "held for review" section. I have no idea why but it was not in the normal place I see comments. Anyway, I talked about the fridge briefly in one of my old videos but cant recall which one and it was not detailed like you need. This article is pretty good and may point you in the right direction: roadtrippers.com/magazine/rv-refrigerator-issues-rv-troubleshooting/#:~:text=Troubleshooting%3A%20Your%20Fridge%20Works%20on%20Electric%2C%20But%20Not%20Propane,the%20service%20valve%20is%20open.
I do but do not have a video. I installed it in one of my old trailers but not this one. I have one coming but need to buy the hardware and install it on this rig. Im going to use a standard shower/bath mixing valve and use it instead of the miser. It will do the same thing. I have this planed for a few weeks from now.
I think what airstream is saying is the other components of the water heater will fail requiring a replacement before the chlorine will cause a failure. I have a spare pump just for the day it fails because it will only fail when you need to flush the toilet and don’t have hook-ups. The cost of a rebuild kit wasn’t much less than the whole pump, but I guess the weight difference is. Great video, thanks!
Another great video. Thanks. We found with our hot water in our GT 23 2021. If the hot water screen would show an error code if we ran it over 119. We run it now on 117 and it’s fine and warm enough. Not sure why it would show error code and not work over 119 🤷♀️
Weve never experienced the error code, even with it set to 124. Ive backed it down to 115 and it's plenty hot for us. Id be interested to know what Lippert/Girard says about that.
As always, very informative and helpful video! Would love any advice or insight on why we can’t get the plastic taste out of our fresh tank water. We bought our 2023 International used so the first thing we did was sanitize the system with bleach. Yet we still get the terrible plastic taste in the water. We use an in-line filter and a drinking water approved hose. I did a test on our last trip and drank the water from the hose before I went to fill up the fresh water tank and it tasted perfect, yet the water from the faucets was awful! Please help this newbie understand!!
I assume you cleaned it with the recommended ratio of bleach to water and let it sit in the whole system for the recommended time? You can also do this with distilled vinegar. It would require a couple of gallons for a 35 gallon tank and the procedure would be the same. I also assume you are using a drinking safe hose to fill up the tank. Please reach out to us via the contact us link on our website and we can schedule a call if you'd like.
@@ThirteenAdventures Yep, we watched several videos on what the right bleach ratio would be for the Airstream and of course we flushed it afterward. I had some folks on the Airstream Forums recommend we try sanitizing and flushing it again. Maybe it still had remnants of winterization left over in the system. She’s being serviced right now (we had a little surprise when we got to FL - the bottom door hinge bolts and plate came completely off) so we can’t do anything yet. We will definitely take you up on the offer of a call if we can’t resolve it with another sanitizing.
Sanitizing again was going to be my next recommendation. Yeah, those door bolts must be checked often. Glad you caught it before something bad happened.
@@ThirteenAdventures It was quite a surprise when we got to the campground and I went to open the door to check the leveling and it almost fell out of my hand. 😩 $125 for a mobile tech to come put a bolt in to hold her up until we could get home to take her to the dealership for the fix. I meant to tell you, we can’t wait to see y’all on the road someday. We know your favorite movie is Back to the Future so not only can you and the hubby talk Marine Corp stuff, he can tell you about his decade of being Michael J. Fox’s personal body guard.
Thanks Brad! We have the older tank system and would like to use vinegar. What amount do I add to the fresh water tank? How do I get the water temp up to 130 degrees for it to be effective?
This is the basic outline of how I did it with the older tanked water heater. 1. Set water heater to 130 degrees Fahrenheit. Ensure the heater is off - you don’t need it yet. 2. Drain all water from your RV’s freshwater system. Drain the water from the hot water tank as well. 3. Prepare a 50/50 solution of water and white vinegar. I used at least 15 gallons of the solution 4. Fill your fresh water tank with the white vinegar solution. 5. Open your kitchen faucet. Turn your water pump on and keep it on until the vinegar-water solution comes out of the faucet. 6. Close the faucet and turn the water off. 7. Turn your water heater on. Let the vinegar solution heat to the set temperature. It may take 20-30 minutes for the solution to heat up. 8. Once the vinegar solution has heated up, turn the heater off and turn your water pump on. 9. Run the solution through the hot side of the all faucets until you smell the vinegar. 10. Let the vinegar sit in your RV’s fresh water system overnight. 11. Remove the anode rod (if equipped) from the water heater and then drain and rinse the heater. You may see sediment coming out of the water heater. Place the anode rod back and set the water heater to its default temperature (usually 120 degrees). 12. Hook your fresh water system to a water supply and run water through the entire system until there is no vinegar smell from the fixtures.
Brad, thanks for this video. Quick question. Do you just dump the .13 bleach x your fresh water tank capacity into the fresh water tank and then fill it with filtered water and then run the water pump to disperse the chlorinated water through each of the facets?
