I like the second GoPro in this video. Never been much into tent camping so, the tiny one with the outside galley isn't for me. I like being able to move around some and not run into myself. 😄 Thanks for sharing JD and a special thanks to Terry Town.
the advantage of the 2nd one is the lack of cooking smells getting stuck inside but yeah, i get ya. I imagine with some tent sides that could work amazingly.
If I had the money I'd buy one of the Retro style trailers that are on the market; something that would look period correct behing my 86 GMC K2500 and my 85 Chevy C30.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that first, small one, looks like you could easily put in a water tank with a shower head attached to it yourself post-marked, in the roof of the kitchen area or something? And maybe screw a toilet seat to the side of the wall or something Top Gear-style, and you can fix the no bathroom-problem B^)
Subscribed. Really enjoy the channel. I like that you review many small rv's campers/trailers within a more realistic price range as well as the higher end stuff. Just did my first rv trip and have the bug!
Great video. Thank you so much. There's only two of us so this is something that I've been looking for. Small easy to tow lots of features. I'll check out their websites for Price details. Please keep up the good work.
Well hell I don't know what my father in law did to his Airstream, but his was trash after 10 years. I couldn't believe it and he was in his 70's 80's when he owned it!...Bought it for about 85K and sold it for about 10K
Great content. I am currently looking for my first travel trailer that can sleep six BUT i do want to keep it compact and have lots of storage. So i am searching.
This guy don’t know that most half tons can pull over 8k. With that being said, shouldn’t tow anything over the payload capacity regularly with out a transmission cooler.
2:05. Oh man, Someone moving up from camping, in a tent, they hiked five miles to set up, on the ground, outside, in the rain. That person, you think is suddenly going to move up to this Air Conditioned, Heated, Refrigerator, Dual Battery Box, Solar capable, propane cooktop, microwave insult to nature, and all of humanity, do you? No, it’s the geeks who always WISHED they had. They might. And ya.... I looked up the price. So what.
I am 61 years old and have had them all. I currently have a 40 ft. fifth wheel, a 32 ft. class c, and a slide in truck camper with two slideouts. Trust me on this, get the smallest camper you need, not the biggest one you want.
Yes, this is so true. My wife and I have a 19ft travel trailer, single axle. Included is a twin bed, set of bunks bathroom. We also have two cats and a dog. We would have gone smaller, but we wanted the cats to have the bunk area so they have their own space, away from the dog. They all get along, but they like their space. We are thinking about getting a sprinter van or smaller camper when the cats pass on.
If this is going to be your first camper I would definitely buy that second one fully self-contained I would buy it myself if I didn't have my two campers!!!
So many reviews on massive campers the size of houses it's nice to see see something basic. Camping is about getting out in the outdoors and a camper is just a place to keep your stuff and sleep 👍
Something you can do both in isn't bad though. Hell, for someone like me, that 2nd one is *almost* big enough to live in. With a different floorplan, maybe it even could be enough space.
I work as an RV tech. Listen to me when I tell you that smaller RVs will last longer per dollar invested than the larger ones, especially those with slide outs. Slide out motors fail all the time. Gas: You will save untold amounts in gas with a smaller RV than a larger one. Price: You are camping. You will be outside 50% of the time if not more. The RV is there for a place to eat, sleep, and number 2. Why spend 80k when 20k meets your needs? Maintenance: Fixing things is expensive. Its really nice when the most expensive item on the trailer is the fridge. It really sucks to spend 2300 bucks just to replace the black tank on a 28 foot behemoth. Thats my going rate. Longetivity: All RVs die. Its life. 20k for 20 years is much better than 80k for 20 years.
kickinthebucketofmilk good comment. I’m not a camper at all but enjoy these videos. However, I think the little ones would suit weekend trips whereas the big ones are made for whole summer type trips.
There’s no reason to put persons in your video, proves change all the time and within a few months of him putting out the video he would get nonstop complaining about how his prices are wrong. If you’re watching this video then that means you have access to the internet, it takes literally 30 seconds for you to open a new tab, check the price and move on.
@Ms. Tal I disagree. People can live in the bedroom or kitchen or dining rooms or living rooms and if they have a garage.. can live in there. Some might live in their bathrooms if they are so inclined. ;)
No one ever seems to notice or mention the extremely short and vertical back rests that provide absolutely no upper back support and will kill a back after an hour or so sitting like that. So impractical. Also, no one mentions the fact that as you lean back, all the window and blind hardware jabs you in the back. What good are amenities if you can't sit comfortably waiting out an 8 hour thunder storm system. It took us 10 years and 11 campers to learn this stuff :-)
I have the GeoPro 19QB and looove it, perfect for me and the wife. Pull it with a Ram 1500 Hemi, 6spd, 3.92 gears and a B&W adjustable hitch and it's great.
A friend of mine has one of these and he has had a lot of issues. Unfortunately he has not had a lot of support from his dealer. Forest River has been helpful but the dealer has been slow and no responsive.
@Stephen Koppe Like every camper. Built fast and furious and cheap as possible. Throw a flyer of pamphlet out with a river view campsite that is damn near impossible to hit unless you boondock and boom. Suckers buy. PS: I'm a sucker ;)
Yeah, it is pretty greedy of you not to sit through a few short adds when they help fund the ability to do these videos in the first place. Ah well, someday you may value the content enough to not be greedy and skip the short ads. Have a wonderful day watching ad free videos my friend!
LOVE ❤️ , THE IDEA 💡 .!!!! . JUST ( ATTACH ) TO YOUR , TRUCK &. GO .!!!! . AT A ( REASONABLE 💰💰 , PRICE !!!. !!!! . GREAT FOR : SCHOOL , COLLEGE , WORK , OR BEACH 🏖 .!!!!!! . ( NO MORE , RENT) .!!!!! . SAVE !!! .😎💰💰💰💰💰🤣😂😎👍.....
The second one is great. Love the fact the table can come out of the trailer and be used outside. So many of these trailers just have booth style table set ups. The only problem I'd have with this model is no real cabinets above the kitchen area and the small fridge. I personally prefer a little bit bigger fridge that has a freezer that you can put some frozen items into. Great video over all but next time open more of the cabinets doors and the fridge doors. 👍👍👍👍
I like features on both, I’d like to be able to incorporate the outdoor cooking part of the smaller on into the larger one and get top and bottom bunks out of the switch.
Do these trailers have a spare tire? Must be mounted underneath these days. Nice looking trailers but not seeing a spare is the first thing that jumped out at me.
I'm looking at this review of the smallest Geopros and I immediately thought of their great, full featured popup. Rockwood must have some really talented and thoughtful designers because once again we are treated to examples that at first glance makes one think, "Ah....more minimalist small RVs." But Mr. BTBRV shows us all that minimalist is more a state of mind than reality when it comes to what Rockwood can accomplish with tiny RVs.
That first one, would be better with the kitchen access inside. If a rain storm hits and lingers for the 3rd day of a 5 day camping trip and you have to get dressed, go outside, open the kitchen getting everything soaking wet, including the food and drinks you are getting?
That first one is a joke. Hey let's put the kitchen on the outside that way when it cold and rainy you get to go out in the rain to get to your kitchen.
I just bought a small trailer (Lance 1475). Three things I needed: a REAL bed that wasn’t doubling as a dinette table or a couch, a dry bath, and a real kitchen. Otherwise, why not just camp in a tent?
I like these compact trailers but was surprised the 16' weighed 3800#'s. I have a 20 Keystone Passport Ultra Lite that weighs 3400#'s and it is fully self contained. Has full rear bath, slide out sofa/bed, full fridge/freezer, oven and 4 burner stove top and a microwave. Has a rv queen bed (5" shorter than regular queen). It is all aluminum frame construction on a steel frame. Has winter pkg and fiberglass sides with foam insulation. For the price difference I would check this model out. My F150 2WD pulls this RV with ease.
I was looking at some RV trailers at a motorcycle show last year and they had some small ones for around $16k and they were super nice don’t know the brand names because I’m not into them but I’ve been shopping for one for about a year now and I can’t believe the prices on the smaller trailers, you can get alittle bit bigger for a lot less money, which I don’t understand
I like to winter camp what would you recommend as far as RV or travel trailer , I need a well insulated. In the past travel trailers that was never a possibility, is there a such thing as in Arctic travel trailer or RV I have 06 Jeep lj it would only sleep two ppl & two dogs Thank you you do Awesome work
I love camping but as I can no longer get up off the ground due to mobility issues I had to give it up. The little one you showed first would be perfect for me as it has a bed and kitchen which I now need but could still enjoy the wilderness. Thank you for this video.
I have quite a bit of experience towing with 1/2ton, 3/4ton, and 1ton+ trucks. When it comes to compact or mid size trucks I don't have the experience to fully qualify how one tows at or near it's max capacity. I do think a mid size truck with the highest tow capacity option (Ranger 7k, or Canyon Colorado at 7800 or 7k) "should" have no issues though when paired to a properly setup WDH.
geo pro s are great little trailers the G15TB would be even more awesome if the kitchen was a slide out kitchen for outdoor cooking on sunny days and a slide in kitchen for indoor cooking when the weather is not so great, give the engineers something to think about
Nice video but unless I missed it you never mentioned how these might be Airstream killers. What about these units made you think they were competing with Airstream ?
Could you review the 25' Bigfoot trailer, both the one door and two door model. I'm looking for a better house is cold weather camper living in Alaska.
I'm liking these smaller trailers the first couple looks like they Tow real well behind my Honda Ridgeline and yes I'm one of those types that I used to love camping in a tent but sleeping on hard ground and getting up now that I'm over 50 is getting a little rougher thanks for your videos again awesome
