Great video! Unfortunately, instructions didn't work for me. I had given an AirTag to my husband. He decided he didn't want to use it any more, so he gave it back to me. We thought we had removed it from his AppleID but even though we couldn't see it any more and we did the factory reset, the AirTag failed to pair with my iPhone. So I ended up pairing it with his iPhone again, then removing it from his iPhone, and I could pair it with mine immediately afterwards. It took me last night and today to figure out that this was the solution. Hope it helps someone here! Keep up the great work gentlemen!

I had 3 that needed to be reset, 2 of them took closer to 10 battery inserts and another took 20 or more to get it to play a different sound to reset. But all are reset now. Thanks for the help.

Before you toss away the little hockey pucks out of frustration, remember they show up under ITEMS not devices on the Find My App on iPhone. However still trying to find them on my iMac iCloud.

Thanks for this as I had an AirTag that was working okay for months, but then some strange reason it stopped updating accurate locations (AT said it was at home). I went thru all steps, but I think deleted the AT outright from FindMy and did the battery in out 5x and added the AT from scratch again.

Update: In addition to everything in the video, we wanted to mention a couple more things to check: 1. Two-Factor Authentication needs to be turned on for your Apple ID for AirTags to work. To turn on Two-Factor Authentication on your iPhone, go to Settings -> (Your Name) -> Password & Security, and tap "Turn On Two-Factor Authentication". 2. Location Services also needs to be turned on for the "Find My" app. To check that, go to Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services -> Find My, and make sure "While Using This App" is selected. Turn on the "Precise Location" switch, too! Thanks this was very helpful. I was trying with a Duracell battery so when I changed to a different make it worked. However I had to take the battery in and out about 9 times as opposed to 5 to get the different sound. All works fine now. Are there any other battery makes that don’t work ?

i discovered this fix . How to reset AirTag if pairing does not work? You might need to rest AirTag if pairing doesn’t work or if it has been connected to someone else’s Apple ID. It goes like this: Press the metal battery cover and turn it counter-clockwise to remove it Remove the battery Insert the battery and press on it until you hear a sound Repeat the second and third steps four times. When you hear a different sound, AirTag is ready to pair. Put the metal battery cover back on and rotate it clockwise to close it.

I have a question. I got a air tag for my sons backpack. And because he’s only five and new to riding the bus. I wanted to watch the bud route. And his location wasn’t loading at first it was loading every five minutes. Then it got up to 12 minutes. What should I do?

One issue I had was in the Find My app, I was looking under Devices and it never appeared, then I realized it was under Items. Simple thing I should have noticed, but didn't.

Will this work if the message saids to your Apple ID cannot add another AirTag until one or more have been removed? I’ve never actually synced one before so I’m not sure where this is coming from and this device is fresh out the box

Guys, have you got a video explaining how to remove a device? Somehow, I have multiple instances of a laptop installed. I've actually never tried connecting an Air Tag to my MacBook Air, and I have no idea how several MacBook Pros are set up. I have no problem using an Air Tag to find other things. If I get a clean slate, maybe I'll be able to set a new tag to my Air. THANKS

Do you know why it is that the airtag doesn't refresh to the proper location all the time. I want to put it on my dog but in testing it out in a vehicle i find that it isn't accurate or there is quite alot of lag between refresh. I've had it say it is the same location for days and I know it wasn't.

I was able to buy and use a Panasonic CR 2032 from Amazon and it works in the air tag

I had trouble with my airtag and my airpod pro 2 for precision finding. These two are working if connected to my friend's phone, but the precision finding does not work when connected to my device. Also, if I log in on my device with a different apple id, its precision location works fine.

My Airtag is new it stopped connecting I removed the battery and placed it back in but it doesn’t make any sound 😢

I can confirm Duracell batteries do not connect, what the heck ?! They look identical, so I guess the round lip is just a bit different.

you didn't mention it only works with iOS 14.5 and up, bought 4 packs taking them back my iPhones were jailbroken on 14.1 not going to update them for these stupid tags

I can’t fix my “AirTag no reachable” issue since I can’t find the airtag itself. Find my is telling me it’s in the house but I can’t play the sound to locate it since it’s not reachable. I hope there’s a fix for this also 😢😢

Thank you so much, I had purchased a package of Duracells because I was getting “Low Battery “ warnings , tried two of them and the Air Tags did not work, watched your video, followed your suggestion and purchased Energizer Lithiums and they worked great.

Good Video - Duracell battery in mine was the issue; tried to wipe the child proof bitter coating off with scotch pad, it beeped finally but still didn't connect. So trying another battery manufacturer next ... CR2032 lithium 3V coin battery

I thought I would add my issue after a year all of the issues, won't connect, three different mfgs, reset, nothing. Called apple and they say too bad out of warranty but you can send them in and pay for the repair! So this is really a bad deal. I have an iphone 12 pro max, latest 16.x os and everything you said to do. I'm out a hundred bucks an switching to android!! This is just theft if they wont fix their own issues

Sucks. Got a new phone and it’s weird because I was getting notifications that an AirTag is moving with me. Which would be the one I put on my keys. But I’m trying to set up a new AirTag, and it says it’s setting up and gives me an error saying it cannot set up and to make sure I login under Apple ID. But I’m already logged in. I wish it Apple was easier to set up. It’s my one gripe, the hassle of setting things up, and the constant updates.

Hi, if the location is not updating for airtag try following - Settings -> Location services -> system services -> find my iPhone. Make sure to also turn on all other location-based services.

My Airtag can't be found by my iPhone. I've tried to reset it but the cover will not twist counterclockwise so I can remove the battery 5 times. Any suggestions on how to move a "sticky" cover? Thank you.

So I just figured out how to fix my issue. In addition to the no bitter taste ones I couldn’t get it to stay engaged, it would ding but when I put the back on it wouldn’t register. The clips of the back need to be bend forward just a bit more to fix this issue. I would recommend this rather than shoving anything in there.

Removing and replacing the battery five times to force reset the airtag and starting over is what fixed it for me. I was only 7 seconds into this video and discovered this by accident. So I didn't even watch the rest of the video. So there you go, for those who can't get resolution for accurate finding it's that.

Doesn’t make sense to have to reset network settings and risk potentially messing with your other devices functionality. Just to get one AirTag to re-pair.

Is it possible to reset an AirTag linked to an Apple ID after returning the phone with that Apple ID, especially if I changed employers?

Total crap, I bought it yesterday and it worked, today it doesn't, taking out the battery 5 times did nothing (I have i phone 8 with latest updates)

so my air tag is connecting and everything but my siri feature dont work it find the my airtag with my watch but still says "something gone wrong plz try again". with my phone it says the same thing but doesnt make the sound at all to find my aritag, i got another air tag and it does the same thing i dont know what's happening

Don't use Duracell battery's with the bitter coating as they do not work. I was able to lightly clean off the bitter coating(so it tastes bad to children) by scrubbing the battery.

Why do I need to be on wifi? Well I figured out it was paired the whole time. The issue was I was looking for it under devices. It wasn’t there. It’s under “items”

I have two of these and the chirping alarm goes off automatically even when I’m not looking for these items why is that and how do I stop it?????

The software update put my AirTag under “items” when it used to be grouped under “Devices” which I just found out.

why need to locate a tag to obvious on a clean desk. try to hide it in a pocket, bag with laptop, keys, drinking bottle.

No matter how many times I remove and replace the battery that came with the device I cannot get the final reset sound :(
